Remember that Lew was not only a superb actor, but also someone who did more for handicapped children than most. He learned sign language just so he could teach Drama and Movement to deaf children ; and that - amongst other things - marched from London to Liverpool (about 250 miles) in army gear - including 50lb backpack - along with John Conteh and 3 paratroopers, to raise money. He didn't just talk about it. He DID it. He was a wonderful man, as well as being handsome, good-looking, attractive, and a genuine tough guy! I wonder if he ever realised just how loved and admired he was? Well, at least his wife and sons now know...

As has been said so many times, Lewis would have made an incredible Bond. He had the looks, the physique and the acting chops to have been one of the best I think. Connery played Bond in a way that made you believe he could kill you, and I think Lewis would have brought that same energy, if not even more so than Sean. He would also have been physically capable of doing the stunts, giving Bond the realism that it lacked for many years. What a shame we never got to see Lewis being given the chance to shine, as I think he certainly would have. You're missed Lewis.

Encantador.

My dad was "The Professionals" fanatic, but I was too young on its first run. I managed to watch it years later, on a re-run (I should have been around 14?15? at the time). What a great man - they both, him and Martin Shaw were great in that show. Lewis would have been a great Bond, (I actually couldnt; stand any other except Moore and Craig. Not even Connery) and rejecting him for "being too violent"? what sort of excuse is that - movies outcome depends strictly on what the script and direction is, not the actor! Really! I have read about Lewis and he was indeed a great man, a balanced, steady personality, gorgeous and as we see extremely talented. A rare gem of a man. That scene he's ruffling Martin;s hair? Precious!!! I was very content when I learned that whatever differences there were between them were resolved. May he rest in peace and may all his loved ones and his fans remember him always with affection.

Paola T Thanks :) People were always telling me I had to be either a BB or a DD, but I've always been In Love With Both ;)
I'm 56 yrs old now and Lewis will always be my ultimate crush I was devastated when he died I didn't even know he was ill
Lewis was an incredibly handsome man and was an excellent actor. Although he was very good in the tough guy roles, it was a pity he did not do more light-hearted comedies as his timing was very good. Who can forget him in the Professionals, I cant as that is when I fell a little bit in love with him. Always remembered.
R.I.P you would have made a good James bond. I'm sure .very good actor.sadly missed.
Loved him loved what he stood for massive part of my youth God Bless you and your family we will never forget you always in our heart M

Martin shaw played the tough guy but lew WAS a tough guy and a great bloke would have loved to buy him a drink, RIP lewis.
Great. The perfect ending; Desiderata from 'Discovered in a Graveyard'. An underrated and undervalued actor.
A hero of mine, and his niece was in my class at school!
Loved him in all he did..from lecherous Gavin in The Cuckoo Waltz to the professionals to Who Dares Wins.. could play comedy action and romance
Love him ,love the professionals xxxxx RIP Lewis Collins xxxxx

Agree with all the comments below, might have been the best bond that never was, also met him at the hotel in Birmingham where they stayed during the charity walk with John Conteh, great guy, grew up on Cuckoo Waltz and the Professionals, and still watched his excellent SAS film, RIP..

He was born in Birkenhead ! Dohhhhhhhhhhhhh
One of the best.
THE BOND THAT NEVER WAS LOVED HIM AS BODIE R I P LEWIS 🙏🥀🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

His voice was amazing xxx
He was a big part of my growing up
NEVER HEARD OF LEWIS, UNTIL I FELL IN LOVE WITH MARTIN SHAW! then I found Mr. Collins. what a beauty!
Love this thankyou he was my childhood x
WHAT A BEAUTY!
So many pictures I didn't know. Thanks

I remember Lewis Collins being in a band called The Mojos back in the mid (ish) 60’s, their best single was Everything’s Alright, which my older sister had in her record collection for a long time.

Beautiful tribute made me emotional but lovely memories. ❤️❤️❤️
