    She seemed the epitome of relaxed, casual chic. For me, I think all bags are meant to carried and used. Life is too short. ❤

    Hermés honestly owes a lot to Jane in my opinion… She’s a legend and her simple idea spawned their biggest success. I think the way she wears her Birkins is effortlessly cool… I’m a bit of a condition freak with my bags too lol but she inspires me to care less and just use them. At the end of the day they’re just bags, albeit pricey ones.

    You looked so lovely!! 💙 I know that you feel out of your comfort zone, however, the blue shadow and purple-y pink lip are beautiful💙🩷 This is a lovely tribute video to Jane! I had no idea that she was so instrumental in the design of the bag! I thought Hermes created the bag and just named it after her, not that she wanted a really large bag that she could use as she wanted. There is something lovely about her not being careful with the bag and just living her life. It did show how sturdy it was❤ “she valued beautiful moments in her life” well said Jess!🥰

    Crocodiles are grown for their meat in excellent conditions. If you are vegan, yes leather is not for you. But you have to understand that in any case, animals will be killed for consumptions. Using their skin, is a good thing.

    @@walideg5304 Vegans think that NO animals should be killed for consumption, and that using their skin after they've been killed and eaten is just further exploitation of their body. Wearing skin isn't a good thing

    What's the point in getting any Hermes bag at all if their animals are treated poorly? Why would I pay $10k+ for that? I thought they use their own farms in France or something to source their leathers? Wouldn't they be treated to a different standard there? Plus, most raw materials for leather production comes from the meat industry. And like it or not, animal protein is a necessity for omnivores like humans to survive. (And vegan "burgers" are not a healthy alternative. Do people realize how many pesticides are not washed off properly and preservatives are added just process the fake meat in the first place?! A mountain dew and hot dog diet would be just as "healthy" with all those chemicals lol). The least most people can do is stop buying mass market meat and go to your local butcher or farmer where the cattle can be free range and treated much better. But no one wants to do that either. Instead they complain on the internet for tikktok clout. At least I know where my meat comes from.

    Hermès has its own farms. Precious Leathers farms like Crocodiles, ostriches, are audited and controlled and their meat sold. They only questionable leather for me is lizard. They are only grown for leather purpose not for their meat. They should stop it.

    Great video Jessie! To me, a bag is supposed to be worn and enjoyed, whether it is a Birkin or any other bag, and a Birkin is a tote bag so it is meant to be open and full of stuff! I am lucky to have a Birkin 35 and I've taken it with me in planes, trains and in the subway (Paris). It is not a fragile bag at all! And when needed, I bring it to the Hermes spa.

    I wouldn't be able to treat a birkin bag this way but I definitely treat my older LV canvas bags like this! They're trashed, covered in water marks, I let my cats sit on them and inside them. My Keepall gets thrown around and it's also treated as a gym bag as well as my travel bag. I always adored Jane's style and her basket bag. I felt sad when I heard the news this morning

  • @babycakes1402
    @babycakes14023 ай бұрын

    Well, technically that bag was made FOR HER, so really, she was basically given a license to do whatever she wanted with it, & clearly she did... This was a woman who, before this bag, used baskets because she could never seem to find a bag that worked as well, that's why the bag was designed on a napkin during a flight. I also heard on a video about Caroline Bassette Kennedy that she had the 40 & used hers for 'everything but the kitchen sink'. I do like Jane Berkin's style though & she said she only had a few of those bags because they wore so well, as much as she 'real life' used her bag, it lasted for so long that she didn't need to get as many.

    They did, but the vast majority of the luxury community doesn't know that, and if Hermes doesn't do anything, then many people will complain against them for not honoring her. Personally, I think that even with their falling out, Hermes still owes a lot to her for making that bag happen, so they should still be respectful and honor her in some way.

    She went through 5 birkins her lifetime wearing them to the ground which makes you think… the quality of the bag is only as good as you take care of it. These bags don’t last a lifetime unless you make it so. It was high quality in the sense that there were no imperfections on the bag from the store… otherwise leather and hardware will all ware out, some faster than others but again depending on the user. Nothing wrong with having a trophy bag! But I wonder which purse is truely the one to last through it all!? Does such a thing exist?

    I'm sorry but I don't find this carelessness with material possesions, expensive or cheap, admirable. As someone who grew up in Soviet Union scarcity followed by post Soviet poverty, who heard the stories of starvation during WW2 from the grandparents, I don't take anything I own for granted and take meticulous care of it. Jane's attitude to material things (that most people don't dream of ever affording) makes her look spoiled and entitled.

    True. Especially when you pay $10k+ for that item! I have some Dooney & Bourke bags that have been used seasonally for almost a decade but they still look brand new. It's not hard to clean and condition and care for our leather items a couple times a year. That's really all it takes for any item.

    Growing up relatively poor, this mindset is definitely ingrained in me too! Being “anti-materialistic” is definitely a privilege for those whose resources are so abundant, they don’t have to consider them. However, those with abundant resources who still place high value on material things - that’s tacky and gross.
