Tentions heat up in Granada as a Castilian officer abuses a woman who insulted Archbishop Cisneros. The fights become a riot but Archbishop Talavera believe the conflict can be solved peacefully.

I really like the performance of Eusebio Poncela in that last scene. Cisneros is such a fascinating character.

would most of the Muslims here have been descendants of the native Romanised Iberians who converted to Islam, or Moors (who themselves converted before conquering Spain?), or ethnic mixes?

It is like here in India also. Majority of Muslims are of Hindu background and rest were of Turk, Arab Background and came with invadors.

All these things you mention existed in Hispania due to the Roman culture.
Very ugly. The costumes look really cheap and it's made worse by the cinematography. Terrible lightning and color gradiation
