Appereantly there were people crying in the theaters as well, something about the theme of motherhood and familial love hit people really hard. And yes I did eventually watch it, about 2hrs ago actually :)

yeah, This movie is about the unconditional love of a parent toward his child which, honestly, above your normal romance.

This sad story reminds me of myself. My mother died when I was 1 year old and I don't have any memory of her... After my father was taking care of my all by himself He married a woman who then she became my mother. She is my Maquia she loved very much and raised me with love and care and never made me feel the loss of a mother And when I reached 17 my father passed away and I wanted to escape everything and even leave mother alone but she was even sadder than me and never wanted me to leave Even now I traveled far from her and miss her... ah how life can be beautiful when you are with a loving family

I saw this in theaters with my mom and I've gotta tell you, we ended up sobbing right there in that damn theater. It was just absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking throughout. If you ever get the opportunity to see Maquia, take it. Its truly an unforgettable experience.

i watched this movie with my cousin thinking this was going to be a minorly sad movie but boy was i wrong. this was the most i may have cried in my entire life. i cried at least 2/3 of the movie. It's sad and you cry but it adds on to the sadness. I don't know but this movie has broke me. after watching this at 8 PM one night, I had many sudden random breakdowns for the next week or so. by the end of the movie I was crying so hard. like legit no joke. normally i exaggerate but no. this movie REALLY shook me hard. what made it 10 times worse was the song at the end with the credits. They had found the best singer possible that had fit the ending song. i full on sobbed for the next hour while reflecting on life. I think the reason i cried so much was because some days, i'm just depressed and think about how fast time is flying. i sometimes look over at my mom and think that soon she's going to be 45 then 50 then 55 and soon 60. I think about how fast days go by during weeks and how there are only 4 weeks in a month, only 12 months in a year and then its January. Thinking about it makes me tear up sometimes because i realize how short our lives are. when I was younger, one of my all time wishes if i ever got one would be to love forever but after watching this movie i don't really want to anymore. sure you get to see you great great grandchildren but you will also experience your own loved, cherished family members also die as time wears them off. Since quarantine, i have realized how much faster time flies. it felt like just yesterday when our school in march when my school announced that we would now transition to online learning. it seemed like it was just yesterday but here I am, currently at the end of june. If it wasn't for my cousin, i would have never known a movie so great existed. I never right this much but it all kind of came out when I started typing.

Just saw this film and I can say that this is easily the best anime film of 2018. The main theme of the love between mother and child really made the film refreshing and unique with the over saturation of romances between adolescences. It has a well-balanced mix of emotional moments, intense action and everyday life enhanced by it's gorgeous visuals and ost. Also, that ending, I haven't cried so much since Clannad After Story :,(

リアルタイムで見た勢だったけど良かったで(小並感)映画館でウィアトールが流れた際には目うるうるなってたわ。 近場の映画館で上映されてなかったから仕方なく電車で約15分の映画館行ったおもひで。

寂しくなった夜に聴きに来ます。 (現在5時。ギリギリ朝の模様。)

「綺麗なままで」って凄く刺さる。マキアのことだろうね。ていうか「ママ」とかかってるし。

不安な時や悲しいことがあった日に聴きに来ています。優しい歌声や、温かな曲の雰囲気が、そっと心に寄り添ってくれて、「大丈夫だよ」と言われている気がして涙が出てきます。

ついさっきNetflixで、さよ朝観てきたけど、本当に泣きっぱなしだった。 元々気になってた作品だったけど、ここまでボロ泣きで、温かい気持ちになるって思ってなかったな。

この曲すごい好きなのに映画は見たことなかったから再上映されるの本当に嬉しい

Damn, the feels man. The ending part of this movie is still making me cry up to this day. The way Ariel aged up and the last conversation he had to his mother. And the way she said lastly on how she would break her promise to his son as she cried alone.

Yes. Wen she got to see him before he died. Then maquia even brought the blanket ariel burned. Then the flashbacks. Boy this movie mad me cry soo hard

seeing Maquia say her final goodbye hit me the hardest, the thought of knowing that is the end of Ariel's life. i just hold back those tears, congrats PA works

Hey i'm two year late to this movie but i know how you feel, that's exactly what i'm feeling right now... the emptiness

I still remember going through this anime thinking " Oh, this is a happy story about a girl and her adopted son ", boy was I wrong. I was a mess at the end, tearing up like crazy and emotionally distraught. If you haven't watched it yet, please do, you won't regret it!

2016, we got Kimi no Na Wa. 2017, we got Koe No Katachi. And on this century we got Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana o Kazarou for the best tearjerking anime ever.

Nabiel Setiawan hai desu i have quite a few animes left on my list and i probably watch 12-18 episodes a day until my computer get fixed or decided to buy a new one but i think i have a few weeks free so... Maybe i might finish 30 animes in a month

I'm very happy that many fans of the world love this movie.

This movie is so beautiful. I cried so much. I saw some negative reviews about this movie i honestly don't understand why. Like how can you say this movie wasn't good? It's so beautiful and meaningful. I feel sorry for the people who couldn't enjoy this masterpiece.

This story takes the somewhat common concept of “immortality (long lifespan) being a curse” and made a story SO SAD AND BEAUTIFUL….

映画見てから2年経つのにこの歌を聞くだけで涙腺がぶっ壊れる。 もはやトラウマ級で心に刺さってるわ

これ聴くとなんで生まれてきたんだろうとか、なんで地球ができたんだろうとか考えて頭が追いつかなくなる。

何千本のアニメを見てきたわけではないけれど。さよ朝は僕が今まで見てきたアニメの中で、1番見終わった後の余韻がすごかった。最後の方はずっと泣いてた。最近この作品を見る機会があって、久々に見たけれど(4回目)、やっぱり泣いた。本当に。語り尽くせないほどのものすごい”愛”というものを感じさせてくれる作品だと思う。前にこんなことを言っている人がいた。この作品はみんなに知って欲しくない。って。確かにこの作品は最高で、僕自身、もっといろんな人に見てもらいたい、そんな気持ちもあるよ。でもなんていうのかな、独占？多くの人に知って欲しい一方で、あまり大々的には知られないで欲しいっていう葛藤がある。偶然この作品に出会えた人だけに、見てほしい。僕のワガママだけどさ。長くなってしまったけど、こんなに立派な作品を世に出したスタッフに感謝します。ありがとう。

After finishing the movie, i went for a night stroll outside, listening to this song on repeat while gazing upon the night sky...... Never have I ever felt so empty on the inside after watching a movie. Truly a masterpiece this one.

この曲を知ったのが2年ほど前で最近初めてさよ朝を見ました。中盤から終盤にかけ涙が止まりませんでしたが、最後ウィアートルが流れた瞬間鳥肌とともに涙腺崩壊しました。歌詞の意味もやっと理解でき手良かったです。

The anime builds up to a single huge cry in the end.

一応これは「さよならの朝に約束の花を飾ろう」という単発映画の曲です。私も見ましたが感想は、「THE・隠れた名作」。この一言です。

Never thought a song could convey so much emotions at once. Loved it.

この作品ガチで涙腺ぶっ壊しに来てた。 マジで皆見た方がええ作品だと思います。

Cried for a few minutes, Had an Heavy feeling in my Heart for weeks and can't bring myself to watch this again for the pain it caused me. I love it but the story pains me too much that i cannot handle it well at all.

映画で涙が止まらなかったのは、さよならの朝に約束の花をかざろうが初めてでした。この映画を見ている時は、優しくあれる気がして、定期的に見てます。毎度目腫れます。 是非多くの人に見てもらいたい映画です。

存在は知ってましたが、今まで観て来ませんでした。今は、なぜもっと早く観ていなかったのかと思っています😭号泣しました！出会って良かったです。またふと思い出した時、観たい作品です。この曲も透明感が凄くて大好きです。

自分が嫌になった時、この曲を聴くと世界の誰からも忘れられているような、でも大切な誰かが覚えてくれているような気分になる。結局、それだけで充分。

日曜アニメ劇場から来ました。 岡田麿里さんの脚本はどれも好きです。 川井憲次さんの音楽も素晴らしい そしてこの曲が作品の余韻となっていてさらに素晴らしい

Her voice is so soothing and calm. This is both sad and relaxing to listen to.

この作品はなんと言っても透きとおるような美しい作画。東地さんの絵の表現法にはとても惹き込まれます。

映画見た後余韻がやばかった ほんと名作！ 何回見ても泣ける

さよ朝って深い...エリアルもそうだけどラングとかも、どんな気持ちで旅立ってったのかとか本当に色々深く考えてしまう、 マキアも計り知れないほど辛かったろうな...
