One thing that really made this song hit super hard is how there’s no “I wanna be kissed” but instead there’s “I wanna be hugged” which make the emotion behind this feels more like genuine love rather than the pop-culture picture of love.

This song to me does not feel like a failed romance song if anything it reminds me of how mundane and boring my adult life has been for the past 3 years. I wake up I go to school, I go home, I go to sleep and the phase "Nothing's New" makes me sad cause it feels like I am growing older not growing up, I still feel like the scared 18-year-old I was when I graduated high school. I have no character development no new experiences I just live the same robotic style I have been living for the past few years. Sometimes I just feel like a scared little child trapped in a man's body scared to change. The part when @ 2:25 reminds me of a conversation I had with my older brother (Millennial) and my father (Boomer) how I just want them to understand that my generation is growing up slower and that I feel like nowadays life is harder to adapting to adulthood then they were my age, and it also reminds me of how my older brother had called said that he feels like I act like a manchild, but he does not understand how me at 20 years old had lived less than him while at 20 years old he was already somewhat independent he was traveling across the country by himself, while I am 20 years old and the thought of independence scares me.
