Korea's never stopped gold medal streak in archery starts from 1984 LA olympic games for more than 30 years. IOC has changed the archery rules so many times since Korea has been too much strong. It is said that it is harder to win the Korean qualification round than winning Olympic medals.

You know what....It is harder to be a national representative of Korea than to win a gold medal at the Olympics..and also Korea 's archery is public and transparent without being affected by any kind of alumni connection or regional relation. No matter how you change your archery rules, you will never be able to defeat Korea.

Jack Shin I don’t think that they are invincible, it’s just that the way they think about archery is different. In most countries, archers focus on the target and to land on the bullseye while training, unlike Korean archers which focus more on the form and their spiritual self.

Korea was never small in the past and it isnt small now either. Being a huge country isnt always determined by land size, it is determined by influence, power, and wealth, something Korea is very huge at. This is why Korea is often perceived as way more huge than its actual size. Korea also has not only used its archery skill to defend, but also to attack and expand. You seem to forget that expansionist Korean dynasties which invaded Northeast China and Inner Mongolia existed. Goguryeo is an example. Its territory expanded to Northeast China, Manchuria, Inner Mongolia, and modern day Far East Russia. There are even Korean fortresses found in Eastern Mongolia.

Archery is very inexpensive and fun if you go with a basic recurve bow. I picked up a Bear Titan bow for US$60 and some aluminium arrows for US$10 each. And it's a serious bit of kit, I started with cardboard targets but my arrows went straight through it so I upgraded to foam panels. With a bit of skill and practice, you can even be accurate.

Late reply, but from what I've heard strength does matter since you can pull back further for a faster arrow that travels better against wind.

  • @HaNguyen-zk5gf

sharktamer irrelevant. The distance of the target is the same for both sexes which means you need just enough strength to make it through (both females and males can) and also practice to make your shoot powerful and stable. A man can shoot 10 and a woman can shoot 10, too. Not like they r shooting against each other. So this sport better not be separated. It’d be more competitive and fun to watch. Just that society is not ready for some hardcore logic real no Hollywood life but asleep on talents because they hold boring excuses.

Greetings to another peenoise in the comment section! There are many archery club in the philippines problem is most of them are in NCR if you live in this region then you are fine. If you are familiar with decathlon many of their branches offer free archery lessons. You don't to buy equipment to get started, try the sport first then decide if you want to pursue it because good equipment costs an arm and a leg.

Since ancient times Koreans including women used bows and arrows as their most important weapon in the mountainous country hunting the worlds biggest siberian tigers.. Our ancestors made bows with unbeatable quality and Koreans still make the best archery equipment. The Olympic team even trained on a remote island against sea wind to be prepared to wind gold in a typhoon.
