It was so sweet to see Simone smiling at Sanne when she was kissing her gold medal. These women are competitors but they’re also the only ones that can understand what each other goes through to get to the Olympics. Such a nice moment of happiness all around.

No, I think the other gymnasts are fully aware what they all go through to get to the Olympics at the top of their game. It’s no secret what they have to sacrifice to get to the top and stay there.

What's actually sad is that Simone recently revealed how hard it was for her that ppl weren't happy with her bronze. She was actually really happy w/her bronze and was okay with the fact that someone else performed better. She's not perfect, and she wishes the world wouldn't hold her to that unfair standard. Placing 3rd is still an outstanding accomplishment to be proud of, and she's also proud of Sanne. One of many reasons to love Simone.

Mine was Olesia Dudnik at the 89 worlds.

this routine was amazing it was NOT about hard tumbling lines it was about grace and beauty on the balance beam

yes, please bring back the 'artistry' into women's artistic gymnastics. The tumbling obsession is ruining the sport imo.

What works perfectly is that the commentator is a former gymnastics coach, he has a lot of knowledge and passion for the sport and the athletes in it.

sometimes he has to much passion. i met that guy in reallife bc he was commentator in a performance we (me and the rest of my sportsclub which is rather large with all different kinds of sports/gymnastics) did. that man couldn't stop fucking talking even if he had no idea what the fuck we were doing. i do proffesional trampoline gymnastics and that man was telling all kinds of bullshit which was incorrect lmfao

There’s very little artistry in beam routines with the current code of points, its become too technical, this was so unique and graceful

I am a non-Dutch American, and I was SO proud of Sanne. Her routine was not only refreshingly different from the hard tumbling of modern day, but it was unbelievably beautiful in the countless turns she displayed. It was so original and more challenging than ppl may realize. A single turn can cause a bobble or fall from even the most seasoned champs, and Sanne does multiples in different directions in combination! Rooting for her in Tokyo! Let's go, Sanne---Spin Queen!

Ballerina on the beam!

Honestly she was the most fascinating to look at and she didn't miss a thing. 6,7 in difficulty that must be her turns, but also the aerials are beautiful! She also brought some classic moves which I loved (her last move was 👌) and had a silver lining through her whole performance! The definition of artistic and she brought that to life in this sport. I hope she does even higher in difficulty in Tokyo👌

Yes her turns are very high in difficulty. Just a normal double turn with bent leg is worth the same as a free walkover

She blew everyone out of the water with that cool routine. Super Power old school skills. My favorite beam routine ever, and I have been watching gymnastics since 1964 Olympics.

I just love her turn series. She's so graceful. It's like she's on clouds.

I remember as soon as she landed her dismount, I said outloud, "Sorry USA, she just won the Gold." She was so beautiful on that routine. It's one I enjoy watching over and over.

He was talking about the double L spin that got named after her in 2010 and then talking about each skill as she did it and complimenting her ballerina style and the Dutch flag.

One of the nicest beam routines I have ever seen. Flowing, graceful and athletic.

She has such beautiful lines. Happy she won 😁

doedelzak In this final, Sanne was better than Simone. Simone makes a big mistake, Sanne didn't. Also Sanne didn't do her full difficulty because it wasn't necessary, due Simone's mistake. If Simone didn't made her mistake but Sanne did her 7.0 difficulty, there was also big chance that Sanne would win the gold.

doedelzak Actually, Simone misses 0.5 because of her fall, so 14.733+ 0.5= 15.233, and Sanne scores a 15.466. They are both great gymnasts but Sanne was better at the beam final in Rio, get over it, it happened this way and you can't change it anymore. Simone will be back and then she rock 2020 i guess.

doedelzak Yeah, but what's the problem? Sanne IS Olympic Champion, because she was the BEST in the Final! So what if... and but simone.... the qualification.... Simone made a mistake, Sanne was amazing and only have one error, please, accept that she was the best at that moment and she deserves it.
