The idea that the writers were playing a trick on us making us think Halbrand is a Sauron while in fact he isn't was actually something I briefly thought about aswell. He says (and it's amazing he gets away with it), 'Please allow us to stay here for three days, to consider our request.' And Miriel agrees. This is a fantastic switcheroo... Not to mention he straight up tells Galadriel; "I'm sorry for what happened to your brother." In this continuity, Sauron killed her brother, meaning this line more or less cements him as Sauron. @@malfy8369 Yh, it seems to be both our opinions. Sauron had a direct hand in making the nine and seven while Celebrimbor made the three alone, negating any negative effects from Sauron (without the one ring). But (as you said) once the elves sensed the creation of the one ring, they took their rings off until Sauron had lost the one ring, where they were free to use them (still wearing the rings while the one ring was being worn could damage their minds and give the bearer looks into the three bearers minds). Unknowing to Sauron, he intended all 16 to be given to the remaining elves of middle-earth and was furious when he learned of the creation of three for the elves (Celebrimbor intended to make more I think but was attacked in Eregion before he could). Sauron took 15 of the 16 (one had been given to the dwarves in Khazad-Dum already by the elves) and gave them to men and dwarves while the elves hid the three. Also, Celebrimbor was able to give each elven ring specific powers because he made them independently of Sauron (water, fire and air).

When the Valar asked for his Silmarils he said he couldn't part with them because "it would break his heart". Literally, Feanor would have died if he parted with them potentially. Good theory, and very possible, he did suddenly become "King of the Southlands" in the last episode. I think the Stragner is also possibly Saruman. However ROP takes place in the middle of the second age and the books canon indicates Saruman, and later Gandalf, came around 1,000 year mark of the third age. The blue wizards were sent to Middle Earth during the second age. So I have a feeling that the Stranger is one of the three blue wizards, or the shows writers want to write Saruman in somehow and maybe go that route. I also think the three white clothed beings following him are necessarily bad, even though they burned the Harfoots wagons (keep in mind the Harfoots came after them with fire and threatened them first).

I was reading how Sauron can shapeshift into and appear as anyone to the different races and men. I guess we won't get his "Annatar" disguise which was what I was thinking they were going to go with. Very cool. But, this does raise some questions about how he ended up on that ship. Was it just a fluke it sank and he and Galadriel met. Is he just taking the opportunity as it comes.

I think they are setting up that Galadriel returns with Halbrand (Sauron) to the Elves after they defeated Adar and there he helps them forge the rings and then there is some kind of betrayal or they find out he's Sauron and he flees to Mount Doom (which was activated by Adar) and he forges the ring there to get the upper hand again, by that making Galadriel the one to bring about the new fight with Sauron ...

@@buchbummelant8980 Idk I'm pretty much in the camp that the sauron stuff is a red herring and he'll end up becoming a servant of sauron I.E the witch king and Galadriel will blame herself because how she got lost in trying to get vengeance and acting brash and will begin her character arc to what we know her as by the time we see her In lotr. I mean I know alot of ppl shit on the writing but what they want to do with her character arc is pretty clear and having halbrand be sauron wouldn't really accomplish anything. Like the writers make enough allusions and references to super obscure Tolkien shit that makes me think they are well versed enough in the lore that they know what they're doing with halbrand. Again while entirely possible I'm still leaning towards they didn't really foresee the backlash coming and thought book readers would embrace the show and their thinking most likely was we need to make a twist for book readers so we'll make it seem like he's sauron making references only the readers will pick up on.

The causal audience, the millions Amazon needs for the show to be profitable, would've watched either way, because they don't really care, and don't really understand what's going on anyway. After that, we get the the founding of Arnor & Gondor (a couple pisodes of refugee drama), and the Battle of Dagorlad (two or three episodes maybe), and that's it, all in all maybe one whole season, if it will be as slowly paced as S1. So if Sauron is reveiled at the end of season 1, and Ar-Pharazôn is already an old man (who will be willing to challenge the Valar), how do they plan to stretch this show out over 5 whole season? It would certainly be more logical and credible if Halbrand became a Nazgul. The question is whether or not Sauron has already promised Halbrand one of the nine rings, or if he's been in touch with Sauron. I mean, after all, the real Sauron can make his own tools, and would never share a raft with a bunch of humans.

Well, the writers certainly don't have any ability to write. It's been so forced, contrived, and expository that it's hard to imagine the writers not being on meth or cocaine. Forget about "credible motivation" for some of the characters (Sauron, Galadriel come straight from Leone westerns, and no one can claim there is any motivation in those movies). Elenil acts like he's speaking on stage and to a camera. Is it the actor, or did the director force him to deliver like an amateur? The "deep" lines are goofy, as though they were written by the Bundy family. The attempt at iconic lines is totally uninspired. Can anyone even remember a line from this that isn't straight from LOTR? I sit through it because I grew up on Tolkien, and I will try to sit through the next ones, but I certainly won't go out of my way to do so. It's too uninspired. I'm still sure Isildur's surviving friend is the only one that will irk Isildur in the future enough to curse him and his people to be the dead army under the mountain. That much is obvious. I'm hoping the stranger is Gandalf and not Saruman. I think "blue wizard" is a long shot now. The evil three, when they saw he wasn't Sauron, said "he's the other one", which kind of leads me to think the leader, Saruman, but of course, they could be just as mistaken about that.
@mish375

@@johnnymatheis1018 The wizard is Gandalf. They actually had him say the same line to Nori that he did to Frodo in Moria. That was intentional. The interactions between her and Gandalf, Elrond and Durin, and Adar and the heroes had weight. I disagree with your opinion on Elendil's actor. There are many scenes that show he has range, most notably in episodes 7 and 8 when he thinks his son is dead and he realizes Miriel was blinded and has to care for her. It's likely a directorial decision to have him act a certain way. I figured it was obvious that Halbrand would be a Nazgul but they're going with Sauron so an interesting switch. Begs the question of why he was on a random raft at the beginning with people. Would have thought he'd be in Numenor. Also it's obvious he'll kill (or will kill) Adar to get his Orc army. Possibility once the Balrog begins terrorizing Moria, he may appear and "offer" to make the dwarven rings as "help".

You're good. You picked up a lot more clues than I did. I wasn't shocked, especially with the heavy clues in the final episode, but I hadn't realized it as early as you did!
The fact that the literal first thing Halbrand says in the show is "looks can be deceiving" confirmed it for me (plus the fact that he's held prisoner in Numenor in the lore and later causes its fall).
He also forges the sword which cuts Galadriel’s shirt and gets that one kid promoted.
It's also interesting that, as soon as we meet him, he basically throws his other boatmates to the wyrm in order to save himself. Galadriel mentions that he seems awfully cold and calculating to do something like that. Though, I will also note, that he does save Galadriel in that same sequence, jumping overboard and diving deep in order to rescue her from a certain death. Hard to imagine that, so shortly after meeting her, that Sauron would have foreseen a use for the woman who was certainly his most dangerous and devoted enemy. So, overall, it's a mixed bag. Is he not who he appears? Probably. Is he Sauron himself? It's not a certainty yet.

I believe this could of been possible, but not anymore. The series is off, Galadriel never had these adventures in any Tolkien book. Sauron came back as an elf during this timeline, corrupted Numenor, dies during the wave that destroys that island. Comes back (? human) befriending the elf's, corrupts the 3 rings made, is found out and flees.
So Galadriel provoked Sauron's return with his own hands? Good job Galadriel! If it turns out that Helbrand is not Sauron we are in front of a badwriting's masterpiece

It is him, when he talks about bad things he did and because of it he cannot return, what he did was revealed by Oren leader of the orcs how he sacrificed his children for Sauron to find the dark knowledge or key to it but it was not enough, so he got bored or felt guilty of fruitless sacrifice of his loyal fallowers and their children yet not achieved his goal now the object was found and activation happened he can start his work of creating the ring after all he is blacksmith. How would galadriel react when she finds out her fanaticism of defeating her enemy has unknowingly rekindled the fire in Sauron to fight again 😂😂😂😂😂

That sentence in jail makes sense for someone who makes the ring wraiths. I could not understand how sauron got the elves to make the rings. I always wondered how his powers of seduction worked on the Elves. It would be a great arc for Gadriel, just maybe this interaction sets her free from her brothers death.

Sadoc is Sauron. Lenny Henry deserves a part he can really run with, and, hey, going from hobbit nerd to master of Mordor would be just ridiculously fun to watch.
Actually in this Galadriel is a control freak and really kind of mean and a bit vain, maybe Sauron replaced her and is seeking power, then the real Galadriel will arrive and be the awesome warrior elf with a touch of grace...one can only hope... :D
Sauron and Numenor have an interesting theory. That's all I'm saying. Go and read up on Sauron's history as a shapeshifter. He took on many "fair" or "good" forms after the fall of Morgoth, then became the Sauron we know once Numenor fell.
Good job!
I think the biggest hint was when he pulled out his morpher and yelled it's saur'n time.
Damn bro you were right 😂🔥🔥
Saurons crafting ability comes from the fact he can infuse his will, heart and soul into his work. Only other person to have that gift in abundance was Feanor. When the Valar asked for his Silmarils he said he couldn't part with them because "it would break his heart". Literally, Feanor would have died if he parted with them potentially. No matter how good a person is, imprinting your very signature into your work is something which is part of you or it's not.
Just ask the sea. It’s always right apparently.
The golden text around his shirt reminds me of the words written along the band of a certain ring...

Dangit! I was on my way to figuring this out on my own after just refreshing myself on the lore of Sauron. Wanted to find the lectures on Tolkien by a professor I heard decades ago.

After Morgoth's banishment, Sauron was brought before the Valar and was forgiven, if I remember correctly. For a time, he was or pretended to be changed, but then he ran away from Valinor to conquer Middle-Earth. Maybe she jumped him at the door.
I honestly think the writers thought that we’d never see Halbrand coming. They haven’t exactly been humble throughout the making of this show.

That's probably a big reason why the whole show is so poorly written, off-pace, copy/pasting scenes and settings from the LotR movies. The causal audience, the millions Amazon needs for the show to be profitable, would've watched either way, because they don't really care, and don't really understand what's going on anyway. @@Wendy420T I wonder how they're planning to pull the Sauron thing off. I mean, the Downfall of Númenor is almost marking the end of the 2nd age.
