    Ngl, episode 6 has been far beyond the best in the series. Had me on the edge of my seat for most of the episode. The previous 5 have been pretty boring, in terms of pacing and even dialogue. Found myself looking at my phone or daydreaming. The saving grace for the series is the visual effects.

  • @JohnReedy07163

    @JohnReedy07163

    @@markmata2671 Honestly, the first five episodes were all needed for the background in this episode. The Elves and humans built the tunnel system that destroyed the Southlands. Isildur being the most reckless and yet the best soldier Numenor has. Elendil is the leader Numenoreans look to and with a volcano that probably just set him up as King of Gondor, that's highly necessary. Adar is just a vessel that Sauron abused to take power and his creations will fuel Sauron's rise. Arondir and Bronwyn helped the violence have a point and made you care think there were real stakes. Theo is ultimately responsible for the destruction of his home and the death of those around him. Galadriel was right all along. Gil-Galad made a mistake by not listening to Galadriel. Durin and Elrond' mithril mission is now a 1000 times more important. Celebrimbor's tower is about to become the most important set piece in the show. Shits about to go down.

    0:47: I think a romanticized view of war was upheld back then even when they realize how bloody and gritty it is. Mongols and Vikings survived and united around war. Without it, they were divided and weak. Spartans lived and died by the sword. Roman people fully witnesssed gladiatorial combat at the arena. Monarchs through most of European history could only gain the will and support of the people through war and conquest, and it always worked. Being warriors wAs seen by many as the most manly and important thing to do

    Werewolves killed Finrod. No idea if they'll change that. He was not "hunting Sauron" but protecting Beren during the first Age and Sauron captured them (Finrod's death was unintentional, he was an important prisoner). Werewolves were one of Sauron's favorite shape back in the day, and he was lord of them. Sauron is a Maia, and one who likes to shapeshift into different beings, as flesh is malleable to angelic spirits like him (he only gets stuck in one form after second age ends). So is very possible Adar killed his vessel at the time and the experiments temporaly weakened him, so............ Adar and Halbrand: 1. He has a grudge. But never said what he did to him. 2. Adar doesn't recognize him... or if he did in the end, he taunts him with that knowledge (who are you?). He can remember names of random humans (as you know with Walfrid) so why he doesn't recopognize Halbrand, heir of Southlands? 3. Nobody in the Southlands, his "supposed" home even recognizes him, but they take his word for granted. Also he knew exactly where they were heading (he pointed at the Tower). How did he know? Because he knows something is there, which not even elves knew. 4. Promised King of Southlands...Southlands became Mordor. He's the promised King to Mordor. 5. Mairon (the one selves called Sauron) was a master blacksmith, as a disciple of the Vala Aule (creator of dwarves). Isn't a tad suspicious this random low man of the southland is more skilled in forging than peak of civilization smiths in Numeror? 6. He implies he has many names in Numeror. Juuust like Sauron.

    I think Helbrand could be sauron because had Galadriel not jumped off and got him to numenor he would have never got back to middle earth the way he did, and king Gil Galaxy and Elrond saw in a vision that her remaining is what triggers the return of the darkness. So why did Helbrand want to stay? Why was he so concerned with crafting? Maybe he wants to learn techniques that can make stronger crafted items, items like a ring? Also what could cause a tsunami to destroy numenor? A water dragon? Who was seen around a water dragon?

    Can't really outrun the eruption there with the ash and clouds. Galadriel sort of just accepting that they just lost the Southlands. I mean she probably could have turned away or something, but it's just the symbolism really of standing there that seems more impactful

    I'm going to go out on a limb .... Halbrand followed Sauron, he hates Adar because of what he thinks Adar did. Away from Sauron's influence, Halbrand forges a different life for himself and regrets what he did under Sauron's influence/command. That's why he won't tell Galadriel what he did, because he thinks she wouldn't forgive that.

    True. In the fantasy world of LotR true evil exists, unlike real life, and since I have no reference point for true evil, I can't help but have the reaction of "damn, Galadriel sounds racist to the core in here", and only intellectually understanding the rules of their world, without feeling it on a gut level.

    Somewhat exciting episode. However the writing is still very bad. Why did no one confirm that Halbrand is king? You would think such a position of power requires some kind of evidence or process, not just asking the person and them saying yes. Why did no one check what was inside the wrapped parcel after retrieving it? Not opening it, not questioning it, what it was or what could it be used for, and then giving it back to a kid????.... It makes 0 sense. They had an entire day before the orcs came to the village, and yet they hid the very important sword that the orcs wanted right under the tavern, in the village they're defending. Why didn't they go and hide it somewhere far away? I am trying to enjoy this show but its so hard when scene after scene is just nonsensical.

    We all knew the hilt was the wrapped object that was switched out...but you who didn't know that? Galadriel. Let's say she opened it (she may have)...as far as she knows, the axe was the object they wanted back. Do you really think she'd go on a side quest to figure out why they cared about an axe? "I was going to question Adar about Sauron because I've spent hundreds of years trying to find him, but I wanted to learn the story behind some scuffed heirloom axe first." Regarding the hiding spot - why would the guy who's leading the defense/preparation take the day off to go hide the hilt somewhere far away? Besides, hiding it under old folks and kids was good strategy. It's the last place the bad guys would think to look. Note - if you try to claim that you'd look there first, we'll all know you're lying in an effort to rescue your silly complaint.

Sauron does have some good intentions in him, as stated by Tolkien himself reminding that he is, also, a Maia and thus has relics of the good nature he shares with them. So it could be possible that Halbrand is Sauron pre or post discussion with Eonwe, trying to hide who he is and what he did... Before relapsing again into his dark habits.
