Over a hundred years ago the little finger rings were commonly used by people who were displaying their disinterest in marriage/relationships. Something that could be useful to ward off unwanted flirting or encounters.

What makes you a truly great person isn't how closely you follow some random fashion styles. Because this is all just random fashion that is likely not followed in many other parts of the world.

+ Andy C In olden days a gentleman used to wear his signet ring with his seal/family crest on on the pinkie finger of his non-dominant hand. It was always on the little finger so he could use it to impress the seal on documents or whatever without having to take the ring off (because with the longer fingers, there's more risk of catching the wax).

I wear an engagement ring. I bought it to fit my ring finger, then I lost weight and my fingers got slimmer so I moved it from one finger to the next to the next to the next. Mystery solved ^^

Well, it's like this. I shoot for 80% I had a friend who worked at FedEx as a sorter. he would work like crazy for an hour throwing boxes/packages according to codes. 10-15% error rates were very common. When he asked the manager why they didn't worker slower so he could be 100% accurate, the manager revealed that when they did that their output was 25% of what they normally would be. +FroopieLoopies Answer: none! I'm a Czechman and we wear both an engagement and wedding ring on our left hand, but if we're divorced we wear both of them on our right hand. Then again, here in Europe you got thousands of cultures condensed into one small space and nobody is really an authority. If you're unhappy with your marriage there's many things you can do. I can only tell you what I did: I let her go and she did the nasty with 2 other guys but she came back to me. That was after 21 years, and we've been together for 28 years now and we love each other even more than before. If it was a good relationship before the problems started occuring, it will survive. I'm just talking about my own experience and I hope it helps you out.

My boyfriend and I got each other promise rings recently. I wear mine on my left ring finger because of the old wives tale that it is the only finger with a vein directly to the heart (not true but still) and he is close to my heart. He wears his ring from me on his left hand and he has a similar one for his right hand. His mom thought it was weird for him to have a promise ring but it means a lot to me that he wanted one.

Hi Antonio, great video. I loved all the background and history information about this topic. I do have a question. I recently found my old USMC graduation ring. Imagined my surprise when I saw it, I thought I had lost it. I have always liked wearing some type of jewelry as a way to add detail and diversity into my daily wear. As per your video abd infografic this type of affiliation rings should be worn on your index finger. That was the case and how I wore my ring 17 years ago. Now that Im a little older it can only fit on my pinky finger. Being a Marine like myself you could probably understand the sentimental value of that ring. My question is: would it be awkward or out of place to wear that ring on my pinky finger? Like I said earlier, I like paying close attention to all the details I wear and also like to make sure they are sending the right message. Hey JC, Army vet here. Take it to a jeweler and have it enlarged to fit your current index finger size. It's not horribly expensive. Might even go a size up and get a silicone spacer so you can continue wearing it into your later years, without worrying about inflammation, arthritis, etc., too much. I wear rings on three fingers. My class ring is on the right ring finger, medium large in size with traditional shape. My first degree is for an AAS, I never saw anything nearly as nice so I chose not to order a ring for my BAS or my MAS. Birth month is October so I chose rose / zircon for the color. My first degree was for aircraft maintenance. We are taught that stress is associated with sharp corners, both my high school ring and a trade school ring suffered cracks resulting from the sharp corners of the facets. With this ring I had the option of having the facets face downward thereby offering the same affect without the stress. I also ordered the ring in jewelers stainless for durability. I have worn the ring now for 27 years with no visible wear to the ring itself and no damage to the stone. My father for the most part rarely wore a ring having worked as a mechanic most of his life. In later years my mother bought him a new gold wedding band of decent size. When he passed away in disgust mom thought of getting rid of it, I asked for it, took it to a local jeweler and he "rolled" it down to the size of my right pinkie finger. I wear a silver religious cross on my left pinkie and behind it a very small silver ring that belonged to my mother who passed 12 years after dad. There is major symbolism for all three fingers. .

I have a question. I wear 4 rings on my right hand. The rings I wear are Green Lantern logo ring on my index finger, Superman logo ring on my middle finger, Batman ring on my ring finger and a Star Wars logo ring on my pinky finger. I wear 2 rings on my left hand. My Flash ring on my ring finger and Legion of Superheroes ring on my middle finger. I'm planning on getting 2 more superhero rings for my index and pinky finger on my left hand. My question is is since for the most part they are superhero rings except for the Star Wars one as I mentioned is it ok to wear all those stainless steel rings since they are special rings?

PermanentHigh I recieved my Deadpool ring that i'm wearing on my left pinky and MY Spider-Man ring on my left index finger. Now I have 4 rings on my right hand and 4 on my left hand for a total of 8 rings.

If you like wearing all of them like that then do it. Do what the fuck you want and forget what other people think. If someone is bothered by what someone else wears then they're too ridiculous for me to deal with anyways. I wear my wedding ring on my left hand and on my right I have a stack of four engraved thin silver bands on my middle finger (my daughter's name, 2 Timothy 1:7, coordinates to my favorite place, and part of the lyrics to a song). Some people don't like it but I don't wear it for them. Personally, even though I'm not into those things, I like your idea. Not that it matters. Just do you, you'll be much happier that way.

Not according to every English dictionary, and Wikipedia. Actually, a thumb is QUITE different from a finger. The proper way (according to Oxford, Webster, and Stackexchange) is to say that the hand is made up of five DIGITS, not fingers.

i wear mine to make married women jealous because i had mine before marriage and still have them after. my diamonds are stacked on my right index . just because i'm divorced doesn't mean i am going to get rid of my birthday and anniversary rings from 2013. i shrunk my anniversary ring on my right pinkie my name ring is on my left because i belong to me now!!! i have my infinity on my left pinkie because of the divorce . i got rid on my last marriage ring freely. i don't wear a ring on my left because it " fucked up" so its naked. pointers are free on my hand .

TheAPC360 It sends signals of dominance and authority. Usually class and family rings are worn on the thumb. Also, there was a thumb ring designed for archers designed to make drawing the bow simpler, faster, and more accurate.

if a woman ,sad to say usually a widow, if on her left hand plus her rings are on her left and right split. because she has accepted it but still grieving she will not get rid of her marriage rings " thus the death do you part" in vows mean.if she loves him those marriage stay on. if her love isn't her marriage and engagement or anniversary rings along with his unless sh has sons disappear. if a father has passed of its on her right.the right hand is the family's and self hand and divorced hand on a woman. if a man it's on his left pinkie. the thumb ring also means she still loves ...the emotion is the authority. if she's wearing a man's wedding ring on her thumb that means she is still belonging to him. that doesn't apply. it only means she's not available. that's one ring that never comes off.if it's on a chain because she is in a uniform.
