Ringo knew, but the audience may have not. Craig needed to make that clear as an intro to the little story so it would make sense. It's called a transition.

Ringo, quite obviously, doesn't want to talk about Paul because he kept changing the subject.

@mercurymay Thanks man. Most people love the Beatles music so much that they try to make the band into saints. They were human beings just like us. I can't "defend" John but there was a lot of good in the man. He had a very sad childhood, a lot of pain. For years he could not go back to England due to an immigration battle. He loved Julian and the two were becoming very close and then John was murdered. It was a life interrupted. Sean was a 2nd chance at being a dad, hence the song.

@mercurymay Says you...what makes you think George was such a saint, because he sang "here comes the sun?" He screwed Ringo's wife Maureen and broke up their marriage. He may have been the worst of the bunch.

That's the worst interview I've ever seen of any Beatle. Interviewer 101. Shut up and let the guest talk. It's no wonder Craig Ferguson no longer has a "talk show"!

@@emergencyCALL911 any host that cuts off and speaks over his guest shouldn't have a show. Oh, wait, he doesn't anymore.

It seemed to me like the guest was the one cutting him off but I guess your perspective changes based on whether you clicked on the video to watch Craig Ferguson talk to some Beatles guy or whether you clicked on the video to see a Ringo Starr interview. In Craig's defense, he'd only been doing the show for about six months at this point and I don't think he had any experience interviewing people before that, so he hasn't entirely figured out how to do it here. And this Ringo guy came back three more times after this, so he can't have minded Craig's unorthodox interview style too much. P.S. Craig Ferguson left the Late Late Show because he _wanted_ to. Nobody took it away from him.

He's more a chatty drunk than an interviewer.
