Ringmasters - The Bells Of Notre Dame Medley with a Symphony Orchestra
Музыка
Performed together with The Heilbronn Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Prof. Alois Seidlmeier in Konzert- und Kongresszentrum Harmonie Heilbronn, Theodor-Heuss-Saal 2022-12-18.
This was a highlight of 2022. An unforgettable experience. As we hit the big notes on Out There it felt like we were soaring over the Paris roof tops!

The original video of Notre Dame was what got me into barbershop in the first place, and hearing this feels like a culmination of my journey into the genre, almost like a reward for sticking with it this long

Almost doesn't even look like an accident, it even hits on the beat. It has to be an accident though because there's no way you would risk that move just as a flourish. Insane save.

It's actually intentional. The performer chokes up on the stick before releasing the stick to bounce on beat. Another viewer explained it in better detail, as they have expertise on the matter. It's in a comment about the same moment by Lukas-jq4vw.
This is beyond fabulous, but the remarkable nature of the voices is lost. When it was just four voices I was overwhelmed by the sound and the texture. In fact, I was amazed there were NO instruments because they were an orchestra unto themselves. DA
The "Out There" portion was just so uplifting and sweet to listen to. If it had a single version, ugh, it'll be on repeat for a looong time.
Love that the orchestra cut out during the crescendo at 5:15 to hear just the voices

Could be wrong but I think only the strings dropped out? Looks like the woodwinds in the back could still be playing (flutes and clarinets looked like they were playing). Still an effective musical decision to drop out the strings though!
Simply unbelievable! The arrangement only enhances the vocals, it's a triumph. This'll be on repeat for a while.
6:09 timpani player goes absolutely nuts also, absolutely stunning arrangement and performance!

Yeah. I could't believe it when I saw. kkkkkkkk. Glad it didn't go unnoticed.
I'm really glad that the orchestra doesn't replace the vocals, but truly enhances the experience. There are many things that can't be done easily by human voice (the runs in the flutes and violins at several climaxes), and they really make the whole piece feel that much bigger and more gorgeous.
Am I the only one who noticed the Timpani player at 6:10?! Well recovered, good sir! If that was intentional, then an attempt to steal the spotlight was made...!
I'm not saying I cried because Hunchback is my favourite Disney movie of all time and one of the first soundtracks I learnt all the words to, front and back, even the French words before I even started learning French and you 4 gents freaking nailed this. But I am saying that if anyone else shred a happy tear at this, then I did in fact cry at this.
THAT OCTAVE LOCK AT 1:42 WOWWW amazing work!! Still improving after all these years :)
The smile on the conductor says it all. I cant help every time I hear this by you guys brings the same smile to my face!
That moment when the orchestra cut out and they were just sending it gave me all kindsa chills up and down and all the goosebumps and every hair on edge… that shit was awesome
Absolutely incredible. The original performance from 2017 is genuinely my favourite video on all of KZread. What I would give to hear a rendition live!

I just heard it live last night in Alexandria, Virginia, the Ringmasters came to the United States to celebrate the Alexandria Harmonizers 75th Anniversary and performed this number as an encore.
This is what it feels like when a book is made into a movie and it’s done right. It felt cinematic!
everyone just calm down, its happening, no need to panic (yall im screaming).
Awesome as a cappella, and awesome with the full orchestra.
the sequel i never knew i needed
This must be a dream come true! I started listening to barbershop because of you guys (Martin included) and this was such a thrill to watch. Congratulations.
Shoutout to Colonel Sanders for taking time out of his schedule to conduct the orchestra 💯
This may be the future of barbershop. Incredible work, guys!
Return of the Kings
Okay, lead has at least two sustained notes that go for about 20sec each. Holy mother of pearl!
I just wanted to say thank you. To the four of you and to Martin. I keep going back to your original Notre Dame video. I'm so grateful you shared that and that you keep sharing your music with us. You're great! Thank you!
This should have a billion views
i’ve probably listened to ringmasters iv around 100 times. this is absolutely phenomenal in every way and gives me chills like crazy
ringmaster's bells arrangement is still my favourite barbershop performance of all time, the a capella one they uploaded some years ago I still visit regularly, blows me away every time. Glad to see you guys still doing so well!
Amazing Performance, still can't believe that i was able to see this live...just breathtaking😍
The baritone part was just the icing on the cake!
I discovered the original performance a few weeks back, and no song has ever made me as emotional as that. This rendition is even more powerful and just as stunningly beautiful as the original. I've truly become a fan of this group and their incredible vocal powers.

Definitely. This was the first performance/piece truly brought me to tears because of the sheer beauty of... Well, everything!
The guy on the timps loses his stick at 6:20 and recovers like the pro he is.
Shoutout to the timp player who chucks his stick in the air at 6:10! As a fellow percussionist we've all been there some *cough* more than others *cough* 👀

Yet here again, am I. Still the same, holy moly! Chills
I am speechless. You have left me this way before but truly, this performance is perfection. There are not enough adjectives to give proper kudos to each and every one of you. Thank you one and all. Blessings from Kansas~
I love that in theory this should've been done with more singers to get that majestic sound, but these guys by themselves already sound as powerful as a full choir. It could just be due to the mixing, but still...
So… you’ve got one of the most epic medleys in barbershop nailed by perfection, and then you guys go and do it again, but with a fantastic orchestra (great arrangement too). Beau-ti-ful!
i've listened to this song and sang it with my buddies numerous times, but i have never, in my entire life, cried over an arrangement like this before. watching this was truly a turning point for me musically and i'm so excited to grow up and be a musician :)
WOW! The original performance of this medley is easily my favorite barbershop performance of all time, and hearing this with a full booming and beautiful orchestra was phenomenal. I was grinning like an idiot throughout this whole video, absolute music to my ears.
Take a bow, gentlemen. Incredible.
the directors energy is amazing
This is astonishing. The Ringmasters continue to thrill. A World class performance like no other. Thank you gentlemen and the orchestration was superb too.
Born soon enough to witness Ringmasters! ♥
That was fully sick.
YAS!!!!! HE HIT THAT NOTE AT THE END 🎉
Not gonna lie, tears were shed
It was so nice to see how excited the conductor and orchestra were at the end there, what a labor of love!
I'm going to cry. I needed this. Truly. Thank you so much, Ringmasters.
when there are multiple goosebump moments, you know it's the good stuff
I must admit, even though I love orchestral pieces, I sometimes feel a bit weary of orchestral arrangements added to pieces to minimal or no accompaniment because I sometimes feel they miss the point of what makes it so magical, but the ending of this did give me chills :) it was pretty great, also good to hear the ringmasters’ voices have improved so much, i noticed a new clarity and placement to the lead's note at the end which I am always impressed by
This kind of lets me appreciate how bright tone the previous bass had for that low register. Still everything's great. ;)
I love the original video. But this... this honestly feel truly magical. This is one of those rare moments in music where everything falls together so well that it embodies what perfection is.
Doing it with an orchestra was a really cool idea! I love this!
Nur begeisterte und strahlende Gesichter bei den Musikern. Alle hatten Spaß.
OMG THAT LAST CHORD!!! I’ve got tears running down my face.
This is so beautiful. I love the original just the same, but this performance has a very different feel to it. The first performance was beautiful for the impressive complexity of the vocal arrangement that gave the medley a deeper texture than you would think possible for an a capella quartet, making the performance far more powerful because it relied entirely on the talent of the vocalists and the arrangement itself. While this one is beautiful because it also feels powerful, but in a calmer and more peaceful way, because it's the same arrangement but with a full orchestra, which takes just enough focus off of the vocals to enhance the song itself without taking too much away from them, which gives the overall performance an impressive yet calm feel. Well done, and thank you!
Absolute legend on the timpani with the stick toss at 6:10.
I've watched the recording on barbershop harmony societ at least 100 times. This performance genuinely brought a tear to my eye. An incredible arrangement and orchestration
First time I heard this (a capella) was a Ringmasters gig in Germany. Very poetic to have my soul leave my body again by Ringmasters singing this, in Germany, and with an orchestra.
I didn't know it, but I have been waiting for this.
I've gotta be honest. If I had never heard the original, I would have thought this version was great. But I'm not entirely sure it actually enhances Aaron Dale's vocal arrangement. I would almost prefer to hear this with a soloist or two instead of the barbershop voicing. There are so many wonderful bits of vocal harmony that are simply drowned out with the full orchestra.
That was the greatest seven minutes of my life I have ever spent. My two all time favorite things combined.
I have been unbelievably surprised about this 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I LOVE THE OROGINAL THIS IS PERFECT
I don't know wich i like the most, acapella or this one. Unbelievable!
Literally brings me to tears it's so epic.
A lot of magical moments in that performance...outstanding!!
I happened upon the original around a month ago and have come back to it multiple times since-seeing this while searching for the first was a treat!!
This is so beautiful my heart aches
Another 3 months, another multitude of views, another few chills down my spine.
This got me so emotional and it caught me so off guard. I found myself singing along and crying tears of joy! With the voices I’ve memorized and the beautiful orchestration, this was as magical as the first time I listened to the original. Bravo!
That must've been an awesome experience for that conductor to work with you guys. You can see the excitement in his face. Awesome job as always.
The Ringmasters are truly The SINGmasters! Absolutely brilliant performance! Bravo!!!
This is so wonderful. The vocal performance is even better than the original (no surprise) and the orchestral arrangement is a perfect mix of supporting the existing vocal lines, adding embellishments at the right moments, and getting out of the way at others. Bravo!
Absolutely beautiful. Normally quartet and choir stuff isn't my lot, I'm more a metalhead than anything, but god, this was stunning. You guys are fantastic.
Absolutely, positively beautiful. I don't know how many times I've listened to the original performance of this, but this just sends me over the moon. Fantastic job, everyone involved!
I think I've been changed as a person.
Absolutely beautiful. I discovered the original only a few years ago & this just takes it to another level.
What an absolutely top class performance
My God, so amazed by this song an singing. Thanks, Ringmasters!
aaaaaaa with orchestra!
Ohhh! A new video of the best musical arrangement of all time? Yes please!
I can't help but love this one a bit more than their performance for the BHS just because of the power all of them have at the tag. It was already amazing but they all have such a different sound! The leads note at 6:04 in the sustained note is just so good, and sounds so much more supported in this performance. Plus the orchestra did such a good job! They could have really overshadowed the Ringmasters with everything going on at the end( and through the whole thing, tis a lot of instruments) but they really just added to it all. One of the best performances ive seen and you can really hear the improvement for everyone, just so good!
This is absolutely INSANE! Not that you guys need it but the orchestra adds so much!! True gold medalists right there! 💈
This rendition of the hunchback of notre dame has been my favorite for a long time. This just made it so much more amazing. Nothing but goosebumps
Omg...the Out There section is just...amazing. So much barbershop overdoes the little sharpening of the tone...but the lead is above the sharpening and it is just...perfectly amazing!
Props to the timpani player threw it on the upstroke and managed to catch it lmao
YYEYEEEEESSS YEEES YES YESSSS MANNN YEEEEAAAAGHHH
It was such a thrill for me and my friend to be there to hear this song live on stage for the first time! After listening to it way too many times on KZread, the experience that evening was just beyond anything our minds could comprehend. Loved it!
the smile on the concertmasters face at the end. priceless. collaboration is beautiful
I’m glad this arrangement is finally getting the recognition it deserves
wow!
I like this but I wish the orchestra was a bit more muted. You lose quite a bit of the vocal nuances that you can hear in the original version.
MAJESTIC
Just as goosebump inducing as the original soundtrack - hearing these guys with the orchestral backing of their flawless arrangement moved me to tears!
What an absolutely wonderful collaboration! Another delicious flavor of this wonderful dish to enjoy.
Epic, just so epic. If you guys come to Belgium I'm sure to buy a ticket
The acapella arrangement is way more captivating. It puts you right into the movie in your mind.
I’m so glad about this upload! Sounds beautiful, never stop singing.
