What is kind of chisel you was using in making prong around diamond seat ? Thanks
Thank you for the tutorial. One question, do you hold your round bur in an angle or it is held at a 90-degree vertical line? I want to know if that makes a difference in the sitting of the stones with round burs.
@jewellerymadebyhand

45 or 90 degree it is depending of the situation. Working, you just feel what to do. 90 degree I not use almost never. Coly

Knight Enlightened it's palladium.. Very similar to platinum.. Did u mean what the ring was made from? 🤔 or the steel the gravers were? They are high speed steel usually
Great job

Hey, i have a question: on the end part do you bend the tiny "arms" to support the diamond from falling out and is this enough support?
@jewellerymadebyhand
6 жыл бұрын
It is white gold alloy mixed by me, rich in palladium, mechanical hardened. This alloy it is hard but not brittle, like some casting alloys. It is very similar to platinum. If one stone mounted by me will "fly" this stone would be the first. Thank you for asking. Coly
Amazing.

Hi! Are you using a pneumatic engraver? What machine do you use for engraving?
@jewellerymadebyhand
5 жыл бұрын
Pneumatic graver, yes! Which brand is not important. Whatever you buy will serve you.
When you switched over to the graver is that a whole new flex shaft you have to use or is there a way to use the graver head on a flex shaft that takes burs?
@jewellerymadebyhand

I think I do not understand your question well. Please, reformulate the question. Thank you! Coly
@Tdontworry
5 жыл бұрын
The engraver he used Was done by hand I think (correct me if I'm wrong) not electric or air assisted I suppose you may be able to run a sharpened old burr to a sharp needle point and run it at High rpm and "draw" with it that's maybe though I've never tried it. Hope this helps answer your question.
@Ken_Dalton
5 жыл бұрын
gilera runner it's an air assisted graver man. It don't work in a flex shaft.. There's an easy way to make an air powered graver using an electric compressor for inflating tires.. Check out Shawn Hughes, he goes through how to make one if u are good with your hands. Or u can pick up one of these for like 200 or so
@Ken_Dalton

Saturdays R 4 The Boys no man, it's a whole different system. Pneumatic, air assisted.. Like a powered hammer... Check out my previous comment above. There's a few vids on how to make one by slightly modifying a small compressor you'd have in your car for inflating wheels. It's not crazy difficult.. An they are alot if fun! Hope this helps answer your question
I always get the spacing wrong. If I want to set 2.5mm stones, how far away should each pilot hole be?
@jewellerymadebyhand
5 жыл бұрын
This is always depending of what do you want to do. Stone 2.5mm, distance minimum 2.5mm. Stone 2.5mm is the stone what can by fitted in hole made with 2.5mm burr. 2.5mm stone in reality is 2.45mm to 2.49mm. Coly

Jos Haddow man.. U need 100s of little burs, n bits of every size and gravers or many sizes.. It's not really a question u can answer easily.. Start small an build up your collection of tools! Make some basket settings first to gain experience that's how I started.

@jewellerymadebyhand

Long distance it is 30cm and you have place to work under microscope. Last lens group it is interchangeable. Search for Leica Objective Lens 10422563 for Leica M, MZ, MS5, MZ6 etc Depending of this lens you can change the working distance and the amplitude. I use exactly this objective in M3Z. Coly
