RING OF BEARA - What To See If You ONLY Have 1 Day (Ireland Travel Tips)

The Ring of Beara is hands down one of the best things to do in Ireland. Top of the list for my Ireland travel tips, it is more isolated and less touristy than the Ring of Kerry. The Ring of Beara takes you on small roads, into forgotten valleys and into 'ancient' Ireland. The Ring of Beara is an absolute must for your visit, and I hope that this video will inspire you to get the most out of your Ireland roadtrip.

🍀 REMINDERS: 🍀
Three reminders for all our videos:
1 - See a place you like? Comment with the specific timestamp (for example 2:23 or 9:07) and I'll try to get back to you with the coordinates of that exact spot as best I can. Ireland is too beautiful not to share it with as many people as possible, so if you see a nice shot in any of my videos, let me know by commenting the timestamp!
2 - All our videos are mainly focused on tourists who want to get the most out of their Ireland visit (although please enjoy even if you are not in this category!). As such, they are 'beginner level', as there is so much to share about Irish history, nature and culture. Keep in mind that the intent of all the videos is to be at an introductory level so that visitors can get the most out of their trip and start to get familiar with what they will see when they visit Ireland.
2 - Take responsibility for your own travels. These videos are meant to share my own love as an immigrant to Ireland, and as an inspiration for future visitors. They are not intended to tell you what to do or how to do it. Travelling has an inherent danger to it. Ireland is not a 'curated' playground. It is a real country, with its own beauty and shortcomings. The roads are small and windy. There are seldom fences at cliffs. The mountains are slippery, and the bogs soggy. Prepare yourself accordingly when you visit. Be smart, don't take unnecessary risks, and take responsibility for your own travels. Through being well-prepared and making smart decisions, I hope you will have a great stay and that our videos have played a small role in your enjoyment.

As I plan my 2 Day trip to Beara, this is probably the most comprehensive video I've seen and covers all the key sites, as well as lesser known sites, if time allows. Thanks. It looks like you would need 4 or 5 days to take in everything and fully appreciate it, without rushing.

I'm Irish but haven't been to Beara 😮 I'll soon be visiting, so I'll be following your lovely video route! Thanks for sharing it! I agree with previous comment regarding Loop Head's beauty. If you haven't already been there, do visit it's Little Ark an ingenious little Mass boat built to evade the penal laws applying at the time.

The Ballycrovane Ogham Stone reads "MAQI-DECCEDDAS AVI TURANIAS" - son of Deich, descendant of Torainn" Maq is an early form of the Irish word Mac meaning son used in Irish surnames.

In my opinion Beara has a totally different feeling than Iveragh or Dingle. Much more rugged and rural. Perhaps you wil notice it while on the peninsula. On a late October mid-week day like you will be travelling on, you will have the place to yourself. Not a tourist in sight! Let us know how the trip went!

@@AdventuresInQuietPlaces have to say out of all the drives I’ve done on my trip, Beara Peninsula is the best of the 3 drives. Dingle and Ring Of Kerry are fantastic but Beara wins for me. Loved the fact I had most of the sites to myself. It had everything. Wild, rugged, mountain passes, amazing coastline’s, waterfalls, rainbows and beautiful autumn colours ❤️🇮🇪

I'm honored to read that you think my skin is so good that I must know a good spa around here.😂 A whole video would be perhaps too much for this one subject, but I can definitely already give you an idea for eating on the Ring of Kerry: Check out Kells Bay Gardens B&B: goo.gl/maps/dzvhob4t3D1KPG6g6 Great tip for both eating and staying on your Ring of Kerry drive. Really nice people, great gardens and their cooking is really, really nice. Just overall an unforgettable place that you won't want to miss, but is not well known with tourists. As for spa's and eating options near Kenmare, shoot me a DM on Instagram or contact me directly down below, and I can definitely give you some more pointers. - instagram.com/adventures_in_quiet_places/ - adventuresinquietplaces.com/pages/contact

Hello Neils! Thank you so much for these extremely informative and inspiring videos. I originally planned my trip from Dublin to be based around Giant's Causeway. Since watching your videos I am now planning my trip around the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara. What are your thoughts on this? Daniel, can't believe I missed your comment. Wow - no pressure there - changing your travel plans around because of our videos ;) In my mind, the best part of the North, other than its coast line and Giant's Causeway, are its ruined castles. Other than Ross Castle in Killarney and Three Castle Head on Mizen, South West Ireland can't really compete with the castles they have up north. So, I just want to caution you that if you are more into castles, up North is better. If you are more into small abandoned churches, graveyards, mountains and old, old stuff, this neck of the woods is the place to be. Tips - well, two things actually: 1) Take time to go into forgotten valleys. On both Beara and Iveragh you have those options. Sheep's Head is basically forgotten completely, so that will work nicely too. But just sit and relax. I alluded to this during this video, that there is a feeling to this place that is just... different. Powerful. Ancient. Distinct. I hope that makes any sense. 2) If you are a good driver and **not afraid** I will leave you with a name: Priest Leap. Note that this is dangerous driving, so what you do with this information after this point I will leave completely in your capable hands.

I have yet to meet some not dissapointed by giants causeway's small size. There are other spots for game of thrones fans but there are many sectarian flags about to make many tourists uncomfortable. They don't do themselves any favours as you keep trying to make judgments on food stops etc. Beautiful place though.

Landowner lives right next to the access gate! This past few months they've put a sign up, basically waving you through to show you the way and go and visit, but it is always good form to ask permission.

For every notorious tourist spot in Ireland there is a quieter more beautiful (better value sometimes) experience. Beara way better than the beautiful ring of kerry. Loop head is a better cliff experience than Moher - not as tall, but you can walk drive or cycle the quiet route and feel more connected. Lough crew or nowth over newgrange. The former is less impressive but the (smaller) toombs haven't been "restored" inis mean over the other 2 busier aran islands.. Realy enjoying your postings
