Not only is Rik an incredible musician, but just one of the most kind and generous people you could ever meet. As a young guitar player in the 80s, I went to every show I could in the Pittsburgh Pa./Wheeling Wva area and waited outside the venues (often in the rain & snow) after the shows just hoping to get a glimpse or autograph from the guitarists/musicians that inspired me to pick up a guitar. A friend and I got tickets to see Triumph (one of my favorite bands) on the Allied Forces Tour in 1981, after the show we waited outside the stage door hoping to get a handshake or maybe autograph. The limousine pulled up and the band came out, we thanked them for such a great show… Rik, Gil and Mike came right over to us ( both 17 years old) and started talking to us, asking about our favorite parts of the show, favorite songs and joking with us like regular people… us, two 17 year olds who skipped school to get great seats for the show. My friend blurted out that I was a guitar player too… Rik then started asking me about what I played and my influences. I was stunned, since Rik was one of my favorite guitarists (posters on my walls) and he seemed genuinely interested in talking with a “fellow guitarist.” A member of the crew reminded them that the limousine was waiting, Gil waved them off and said that they were busy talking to friends. They kindly autographed our concert tickets and talked with us for 15 or 20 minutes and joked about us skipping school. They didn’t have to do anything, but they took a few minutes to talk with two 17 year old fans and gave both of us a memory to last a lifetime. Over the years I’ve met many of my favorite musicians and as the saying goes - “never meet your idols.” There have been memorable exceptions and great experiences, but nothing compares to Triumph taking a few minutes to talk with to us.

That would have been a thrill.
No autotune and backing tracks. Just pure talent and passion. That is old school music. The best music is older music.
He still sounds unbelievable! Such a magical song.

I don't think he's underrated among other musicians, but I get you point. The man is a stellar musician

You said it...
It's amazing, that at his age he can still hit the high notes so well. Many people struggle to even hit the notes that he can hit. He is one of the most talented singers, songwriters, and guitar players I've ever seen. Certainly he deserves to be put up with the top 10. Not only that, he has amazing knowing of music. The history of music, the writing of music and musical instruments. I've seen him on other shows or commentaries and he has amazing knowledge. Definitely a talented individual. I have loved Triumph from day one. And I still watch their videos on KZread and listen to their music! Rick is a rare breed today. And I wish more musicians would come forward with the uniqueness that these '70s and '80s bands had. It seems like the songwriting. The musicianship. The arrangements were so much better yesterday than today. I miss Triumph.

The 80s were magical! I caught Triumph at the US FESTIVAL IN 83... went to a party in Norwalk in 1980 or 81 and the band that was playing at that party was none other than Metallica! I went to Downey High school with James! ✌️ Eric Underwood Class of 81 Downey High school CA ✌️
Voice still sounds good, nice video. Triumph was such a hard working band
It has to make him feel so good that this many years later, so many people can still sing along with him!!
Man is voice is incredible so crisp and powerful one of the best. Guys like mick jagger and Robert plant have gritty voices but his is on another level
Takes me back to the best time and place to be young, wild and free.
Man that's amazing Rik still got that voice..👃
Rik Emmett still sound incredible. Triumph’s music was all about positive vibes. I saw Rik Emmett’s power trio, Triumph in concert, in the 80’s. it was the Allied Forces tour, (actually Triumph and UFO tour) What a show.
He still has it .Rock On
Rik was awesome at the US Festival....fact !!!

Rik IS Simple the BEST! Great Vocals and Awesome Guitarist!
Wish he would go on tour again!!!
I've met Rik a few times, I've gotta say, he gives so much of himself to help other musicians along the way.
This is song Triumph played when I saw them perform at concert. I threw my fist up in the air in excitement, and Rik Emmett saw me and did the same thing! My friends saw that he reacted to me and they were blown away too! You know it's not everyday that something like that happens! And it was during the chorus:"I'm young! I'm wild and I'm free!" A great time!

I wept, the song just moved me so much. Rik noticed me crying. I was next to the stage and at the end of the song he threw a pick at me but the wind blew it in front of another person and I missed it...so disappointing

@@darrinsadventures But to know he meant to throw it to you should count the most. But it's cool that we both were greeted by him! And with a great song! Wow!
♥♥♥♥ I so loved Triumph! What an incredible voice and guitarist! I wish I had seen them in concert. Emmett is incredibly talented 🎯🙌♥♥♥
Comes from a time when singers could actually sing....Great video!!
Rik is the best singer/guitar player ever! I had the honor to meet him at the Duck room in St. Louis, Chuck Berry’s venue ! Very cool
incredible musician
so great song♪
When I walked into a Muntz music store in 1976 in Toronto and their first album was playing I bought it right then and there. Wore it out in the ole' Pioneer cassette car player. Or did it eat the tape? Good times.
Rick is fantastic. I must admit, I really miss seeing Triumph live. I still regularly listen to their stuff. Along with Rush, Max Webster, Kim Mitchell, Goddo, Coney Hatch. My teenage years saw some awesome Ontario bands!
This song has become iconic. Takes you instantly right back to that time.
CLASSIC!!
Got to see them 2 times years ago. One of my all time favorite bands. Unbelievably in concert. Rik awesome singer and guitar player.
Saw Triumph at Oakland Day on the Green in …. Maybe 1978… I remember they were the best band all day. Love the music. Rik Emmett a Maestro truly a genius. What a monster musician.
Rik Emmett is the best lead man EVER 💪
This came up in my feed and seen the most amazing artist I have ever seen in concert in the early 80s, and you have my subscription locked in.

He Still sounds SO GOOD!!! I LOVE Trimph to this day...they take me back to better days every single time i listen to them (which is often) 🔥 🔥 🔥 🥳 ❤
RiK is sounding better then ever must be a new heart felt effort to get out back on stage. Yes in deed a rejuvenated soul.
Triumph always had a nice following in Chicago. Saw these guys many times over the years. Always a killer show !
Had the privilege of seeing Triumph in 86 in Detroit. Insane talent then and now.
I miss them, just like Rush
Rik still rock on..
One of my most favorite rock songs.
My goodness at his age and he still sings great!
I am glad that he is still playing, excellent guitarslinger!
Certain stars never dull… he has kept it all. Voice and playing ability. The other band members are really good too. He picked really good ones.
best guitarist, singer & songwriter!
Missed a chance to see him a few years ago in Annapolis Maryland he rocks.
A True Rock Legend !!!!
The most underrated musician on Earth.
Still an incredible voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went over the barricade at the US Festival during Triumph's set. I had been in front for 3 bands. They will always be special to me. One of the best weekends of my life.
After all these years he's still amazing 👏
Very Good Band back in the ‘80’s. Rik was unreal!
Awesome ❤!
Thunder 7. One of the greatest rock albums of all time. The guitar solo in "Time goes by" is second to none.
Still sounds great!

Triumph... one of the best Canadian power trio bands of all time... up there right behind RUSH. Also the first to produce a laser light show during their concert at Maple Leaf Gardens.
