2024 : RIHANNA still got 14 #1 Hot 100 and Beyonce Just got her 09th. Rihanna is the richest female artist in the world. The second female best selling artist of all time. She is on her way to BE LEENDERY IN 50YO.

I agree with Wendy's general sentiment that sales and awards don't equate with impact but saying Rihanna won't be a legend is a real affront to her achievements in music. I too would rather go to a Beyoncé concert even though I prefer Rihanna's music, but legend status can be earned in different ways. It's easy to downplay or disregard Rihanna's ability as a recording artist but people don't realize how difficult it is to have staying power in the music industry. Both Rihanna and Beyoncé have beaten the odds and are both worthy of being called legends.

You kinda forget that the bulk of Rihanna's success is within the U.S. Now I'm not saying that she isn't successful globally but she doesn't have the global audience like Taylor or Beyonce anymore and she isn't considered a legend. Plus no one wants new music from her after 8 years, we wanna hear the hits.

Rihanna in 2011 broke the record for most attendees in a Europe concert I think like 200k or 300k ppl showed up. And broke more for biggest international shows the following years. Rihanna is literally the most impactful and famous global artist for the past 2007-now.

Hmmm I have different definitions for “Legend” like, there’s legends that continue to perform and draw excited crowds until they die like Michael and Aretha, I definitely think that will be Beyonce and Adele, but then there’s legends like Madonna who continues to work but no one takes seriously anymore, BUT she’s still a legend because of the amazing things she accomplished in pop music in her past, and I think Rihanna will fall into that category. Like Madonna will always have Material Girl, Rihanna will always have Umbrella.
