Erm... Susan, weren't we already pretty sunk by virtue of having a monarchy in the first place? Okay, sure in terms of politicians and government, maybe not press because the British press have always been this way, and definitely not the monarchy. The existence of the monarchy is a constant drag on us as a country and they've been for over a thousand years, so in that sense, I think we can't ever use the monarchy as an example of the current degradation of the UK.

He's part of that family. He's still refused to admit that his position in life is unwarranted and unfairly given. He's even claimed that his family are the real victims by being "trapped" in the institution. In reality even if they are held in place by the inertia of cultural propaganda spouted by the media that a core part of British identity is the monarchy, they're still beneficiaries and they deserve nothing that they've currently got in terms of fame, inherited wealth, social reach and mobility. Really- then please reflect on this. One of my relatives at age 6 watched as his mother father and all his siblings shot before his very eyes. They were buried in a mass grave. He is now in his early 40's has a family and has moved on. He did not have the benefit of going to Eton, living in castles with 4 holidays a year. Pain is definately subjective but honestly young children across the world are traumatized every single day and many grow up to become responsible adults and don't have the luxury of hanging on to their past traumas because food needs to be put on the table and life must move on.

There is no comparison between them. Harry is a flawed individual, as are we all, who has been through unimaginable trauma. Whether you like Harry and Megan or not is irrelevant, he is doing nothing wrong, and in a sane society would be applauded for defending his wife (which is more than his father ever did). Andrew is a disgrace to the country and imo should be exiled - except that it wouldn't be fair to inflict him on anyone else. Maybe he should join a monastery, preferably one with a vow of silence.

He's literally just like any of the rest of the veterans. He served this country, as Did Andrew, despite how disgusting he is as a human being. Don't "support" him, because that's literally part of the problem. Maybe you mean in the sense of showing the comraderie and family feeling that a lot of veterans feel with each other, but even so, him getting the platform he does doesn't always necessarily mean the advocacy he does for veterans excuses the position he is in, in life purely because of being born into an outdated regime of monarchy. He might have just been an ordinary soldier or not even a soldier at all (being a royal clearly influenced his path in life to the point of expectation of service) if he didn't have the privilege which ultimately we as a society continue to tolerate due to seeing these people as way more important than they really are.

@chatham43 I taught my kids that actions have consequences. I learnt firsthand that not all parents react the same way when their darlings get into serious trouble. My son fessed up and took the punishment and thankfully came out of it favourably, but he was the only one of his friends who did. The other parents wouldn't "allow" it! If the Queen had led with the right example, it might have had a positive knock-on effect for the rest of the nations families, the Royalist ones at least. What is the point of this monarchy malarkey!

@redfog42. Remember that the Queen was close to death, distraught over the husband she adored, and knew that she had untreatable cancer. She had pushed herself too far and wouldn’t give up. She clung to Andrew in desperation, and defied the others. Only on her death-bed did she agree that it would be Queen Camilla - not Queen Consort as planned. Andrew’s squalid life and his hideous case came to light at the worst possible time. But why Charles is allowing this is absolutely beyond me. Andrew should have been hidden away in shame, forever. If only to save the Institution.

@belindamay8063 I concede she wasn't in her best health at the time. She had many advisors, so she wasn't shouldering all of the responsibilities herself. Maybe they, whoever "they" were, advised her badly. What Camilla has to do with anything baffles my brain! I just had an opinion on the subject that not all parents would've done the same by sheltering their children from the consequences of their children's bad choices.

James, that's why I love you. You always hit the ball straight into the court, knocking the nail on the head, so to speak. All Harry did, was stand up against the disgusting, vile onslaught on his wife. A disgusting and vile onslaught perpetrated by Harry's own family! Do I respect those in the palace... Absolutely not!

Its not his mums money, it is taxpayers money. While people are struggling to put food on their table or pay for heating. But its absolutely fine, according to British media.

The British tabloid press relentlessly uses Harry for profit - click bait - similar to how they used his mother, both of them attractive, charismatic figures. A certain percentage of the British public plays along but, as you can see from comments on this board, many Brits oppose the tabloids’ assault on Harry. And, as James commented, many also appreciate his courage in military service and in protecting his wife and children.

Real damage is being done to the reputation of the UK and RF in the US by the nasty, relentless assault against Harry and his wife and children. (Remember when Archie was pictured as a chimp - an image that went around the world?) That reputational damage won’t be papered over by William pointing to some poll saying he’s the most popular figure in the US. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ (I’d bet many Americans couldn’t even pick him out of a photo lineup.) The British media will report, if Meghan Markel sneezes, you think they wouldn't report, if she had done something to Charlotte. As for the bullying against staff, the palace did a so call investigation, and then, all of a sudden, decided not to release it. Why? To protect themselves. They knew, the bullying claims against Meghan were made up. That's why they didn't release the report. If there had been the smallest amount of evidence, that Meghan bullied someone, that Monarchy and the British tabloid media, would have crucified her. I still don't understand about the uniform how is it possible that you serve your country for a decade upto rank of captain and you get that removed because of differences with your family.

In answer to the question you put i.e. why is Andrew being rehabilitated, I speculate that he (Andrew) was prepared to spill a large cupboard full of skeletons unless he was welcomed back into the fold.
