As a writer, teacher, and librarian, the last segment killed me. I'm listening to an audiobook and reading another. I'm usually reading multiple books at one time. Reading creates empathy, which enhances listening and critical thinking skills. This country needs it.

So few random people read a book? I suppose that is why we are doomed, heading towards complete and total stupidity!

I love to read. The last several years I've had difficulty focusing to read. I think stress and over stimulation have much to do with it. I've found audiobooks to be a savior. I receive the full text and story as well as some theatrical emphasis from the reader. It allows me to listen while I cook, do chores and especially on long quiet drives. It can also relax me at bedtime. The only problem is that when someone asks the name of the book I forget because it's not in front of me every time I engage. I remember the stories though.

Yeah, I used to be a voracious reader but suffering from major depression has made it very difficult to concentrate and sapped the joy out of it. These days it’s just too much mental effort. Curse you, depression. 😔

@@clothilde1623 I'm so sorry that has been taken from you. Please try the audiobooks. They have helped me greatly. If you enjoy historical fiction I recently listened to one called "The giver of Stars". It was very uplifting and empowering for Women. The historical aspect was really interesting. What ever you enjoy that can distract from negative thoughts and hopefully give you some encouragement. I'll be thinking about you! 💖📖📚

I adore history so I will definitely check that out; thank you for the recommendation. To return the favour, the last book I managed to finish was called Fingersmith, by Sarah Waters. It’s set in Victorian Britain and is a twisty cracker - as evidenced by the fact I actually read it all! I hope you can get back to reading more too. Getting into in a good book is such a pure pleasure, and it’s horrible to be robbed of that. Stress and depression go hand-in-hand and they definitely impacts one’s ability to concentrate and invest, so I truly empathise. Thank you for thinking of me, and I will think of you too. The last book I read was "The Stones of Summer" by Dow Mossman! Good book and this is the second time I read it...

The last book I read was 'The Founding Myth' by constitutional attorney Andrew Seidel. It was excellent. Highly recommend.
