Riga Greenhouse Assembly

We finished the assembly of our Riga IVs in 2023. Now a year later I'm getting around to a few comments that might help new owners. The whole process was actually much easier than I imagined because of some excellent engineering of the kit and good web-based and printed instructional materials. The base (foundation) was by far the most difficult part. Whatever kind of base you decide on it MUST be LEVEL, SQUARE and the dimensions prescribed by your kit instructions. The window, vents and door was assembled in our garage as were the end walls (very easy, follow the instructions and KZread videos). The ribs and base were assembled on-site. Once the foundation and end walls were done it took my wife and I only two days to put everything together (at the time we were both 69 with very little construction experience). The greenhouse itself is VERY well insulted which is both good and sometimes "not-so-good". Last winter for example we were able to maintain inside temps above freezing when outsides temp was dipped below 20 deg F with two small 250w heat lamps. On the other hand anytime outside temp approaches 90 deg F the inside temp can soar to 110 deg F even with all the doors, windows and vents open. As such we have in place a 60% sun shade AND I've installed a misting system that we can use when temps approach 90 deg F or hotter. Without these cooling additions the greenhouse would be unusable in July and August here in Western Oregon. In hotter climates it would be even more difficult to grow during hot months. With these cautions said overall we are extremely happy with our new greenhouse.

How did you attach the shade cloth?

@@user-ip6hd7kh4m The shade cloth has grommets at the corners and long sides. I use paracord rope to secure the shade cloth to eye-bolts at the base (foundation). I wanted the shade cloth to be easily removable so there's a plastic clip between the rope and eye-bolt for each grommet. It takes only about 5 minutes for two people to cover or uncover the greenhouse (you might need a step stool on each end).

Just got our kit (Riga IVs) and this video will be very helpful. The printed instruction manual is excellent but seeing it actually done is better. Very securely shipped, in fact the shipping container for the poly was probably even heavier-duty than it needed to be. Very happy so far. The whole process seems to be pretty straight-forward.

I just had my kit delivered yesterday and there is NO INDICATION of which side of the polycarbonate panels are UV coated. There is no lettering, there are no markings at all. How am I to move forward with the assembly if I can’t determine the outside of the glazing? Very frustrating, and since it’s Thanksgiving, there is no one at the help desk!

These instructions, while helpful, did not accurately reflect the actually assembly experience. An updated video would have been greatly appreciated.
