I love the bassist's finger picking techniques. Very unorthodox, but really helps him get the right kind of accent on each note.

I will watch any Rig Rundown that starts with bass.
Finally John Bohlinger doing a rig run down!! John, you need to do more of these
Napoleon Dynamite went to the gym and started playing bass.
What a couple of lovely gents! Another awesome interview/Rig Rundown, John!
Rich is so cool, very down to earth but also a guitar nerd
Glad to hear the Stonewall reference. I had him build me a set with a Tele style bridge and a humbucker in the neck, and they are one of the most balanced pickup sets I have ever tried. Not to mention the sound; they are incredible!
More Bass Rigs!!! Also thank you for doing a rig rundown of these guys!
Wasn't expecting this rundown, but great one!

I saw them live a few days before this video was published. Johnny was wearing that jacket...same time of year...it almost looks like this video was shot inside marathon music works in Nashville. Very similar iron work on the ceilings and the columns out on the floor. Cool.
YES
I would call that guitar “Altered States”.
I would DEFINITELY buy that second guitar if he ever decided to produce and sell them.

Scatter wound pickups, wound by hand do produce more clarity. "lowered distributed capacitance allows for more high end to come through while increasing clarity. It also increases the resonant peak and extends the frequency response (which is part and parcel of the clarity and dynamics). The pickup sounds more complex, more open and clear, and louder by the nature of these combined characteristics."
Call it.. The Supadopah
Lucky bass player. Got with the right singer. He's ok, uses a lot of effects. I'd like to hear him stripped down on a fender and one amp. Can he play that and be legit?

@@Astral_Wave Cleopatrick is a big one if you've never listened to them. Also Dead Poet Society, Badflower's Temper EP, and Rival Sons.
Those guitars sound pretty nice, but I have to objectively say ,- purely from a design perspective,-they look effed up, especially that god awful headstock.Don't want to discourage, so, - by all means,- keep trying.Fender definitely dosen't have anything to worry about there. Same "secrets" as about 20,000 other guitarists.

That is the ugliest head stock I've ever seen! But I really like the rest of the bass especially the finish on the body! He, Rich, seems very nervous..... Is anyone else noticing that?

I love this band, but idk why, I find that bass player really annoying. Like he tries to tell the dude what he’s gonna show him before he even asks, then whenever he’s asked a question about something interesting, he’s just like “yeah...” and all the boring shit he goes pretty far into
