Rig Rundown - Halestorm's Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger

Музыка

Article and photos: bit.ly/HalestormRR
Halestorm invited Premier Guitar to their secret rehearsal lair in Nashville, where, surrounded by walls of speakers and drenched in seizure-inspiring lights, Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger took a break to geek out over some spectacular gear. Hale with white-on-white Gibsons and Marshalls, Hottinger covering every sonic combination, the Grammy-winning rockers dished the dirt on their two-guitar assault.
Lzzy Hale’s Gear
Guitars
Undoubtedly, Hale’s No. 1 is her 2014 Lzzy Hale Signature Explorer with Gibson ’57 Classic pickups, an ebony fretboard featuring big block inlays, and a bound body. This sexy spaceship of a guitar is cloud white with gold hardware and is tuned to dropped-D. Perhaps equally cool is her 2014 Gibson EDS-1275 doubleneck, also with ’57 Classics. This 12-string combines a standard SG neck up top with a baritone to bring the thunder down under. Lastly is a stock 2009 Joan Jett Signature Melody Maker. All are strung with Dunlop Nickel Wound Light/Heavy.
Amps
Hale is a no-nonsense woman, happy with the simple things, like a 2013 Marshall JCM800 special made for Lzzy in her signature white and gold. The Marshall drives two matching white 1960 Vintage 4x12 cabs. As a backup she keeps a 2013 Marshall JCM800 at the ready.

Hilarious how much people complain about lzzy having a signature model. She earned it. She's brand loyal. I've seen these guys live, she switched between her explorer and a les Paul supreme. Besides fender gave avril lavigne and Courtney love signature guitars. I can say from seeing them live lzzy is more than deserving. Joe is not brand loyal lol. I've seen him with everything from a Gibson v to a fender John 5 Tele. This band is humble in person and play 300+ shows per year.

Some Rig Rundowns I'd like to see - Iron Maiden - Gorillaz (I don't care, they have a new album coming out in 2016) - Jack White - Van Halen - Megadeth - AC/DC - Metallica - Coldplay (they have a new album out, and they're also fairly underrated as a modern Alternative Rock band - also they have some cool songs)

Andrew Pappas I agree that people should be entitled to their own opinions about what they like, but I'm trying to say that there should be definite genres. I'm not trying to say they aren't good. I'm trying to say that they don't really fall into any subgenres of Rock. I think that Coldplay makes very good music, and I understand why a lot of people like them even though they're not really my cup of tea.

The Gibson Explorer is such an iconic guitar. I couldn't easily afford one so I bought a Jackson Kelly. It's quite ok! The Jackson Kelly is the next best guitar. I remember a friend of mine had one and tried to sell me it for $600. I loved the guitar but wasn't paying 600 for it. Then this year I decided I was going to buy the best guitar and amp I could get for under $1000. I got a Marshall Origin which sounds fantastic with a Jackson Kelly and a few pedals Ibanez Tube Screamer and a Chromatic Tuner. Very happy! I will probably buy either a new guitar or REVV G3 or one or two modeling amps. Boss Katana or the new Peavy?

When I think of one guitar and the importance of this guitar it has to be Queen's Brian May. How cool is it that him and his father created that guitar and it's still his number one. 25:43 Touring with a 20,000 dollar guitar is crazy? Look at Joe Bonamassa, he tours with more than 3 original bursts and like 20 vintage Strats, Teles and 335's!!!

I think explorers are such underrated guitars and I put the blame on Gibson. Almost every explorer I see is so plain especially for how exotic the shape is. When you see an explorer that has any sort of vibrantish colour, (basically any colour other than brown or gray) you think, 'Wow. That's a crazy coloured explorer', but it's not. Just every other one is so plain and boring.

Joe, the 335 might be one of your favorite guitars but it looks out of place for a METAL band. Maybe the chicks like it though?

Toxic Potato Except that the 335 gets super noisy with distortion. Yet, you can use whatever guitar you want for metal
