When I was 9 years old I played this at a little concert. My father has a video of that. I think a month after that recording I stopped learning violin after 4 years. Now (5 years later) I want to start again. I didn’t know how this piece was called but then this video was recommended for me. I am so glad you uploaded it. Sorry for my bad english. @Lynne Platte, you're awesome and your English was nearly flawless. In English we would say we didn't know "what this piece was called." Other than that you have it exactly right. Now on to other things: we are living in Germany (BW) and my 13yo is going to start learning this piece. So you are on the path together! PS Your English is waaaaay better than our Deutsche. :)

@@TheTwiolins You're welcome ! I'm an adult beginner and I'm currently working on it. I love the 1st movement very much. With a slow tempo I think it sounds much more majestic (the last bars for example), so I really like your interpretation. Also, I was not a fan of the 2nd movement, but I realised I was playing it too loud, it sounds much better slower and softer.

@@portraitbyelise2309 Thanks for your kind words! Yes, the 2nd movement is not so strong, most of the teachers don´t teach it anyway and move forward to another concert. But yes, softer and slower is the right way to approach it.

Quicker is bettter, otherwise you will have two Andantes on this Concerto, out of character. I love how Perlman plays it. But nonetheless personal taste, this is very beautifully played.

@@LordCarmesimXXVII Thank you for your comment. I'm myself a beginner so I don't know so much about classical music. I had started to play this piece some months ago. I've listened to different versions of it so far. It sounds very different slower or quicker. To me - so 100 % just my personal taste - slower it sounds majestic, gives me the chills and quicker it sounds "childish" and forgetable, very different vibe to my ears, it sounds like 2 different pieces. That's why I do love this interpretation very much. I'm now curious to hear Perlman's however.

To me, it's a narrow vibrato. Look at Jennifer Jeon's vibrato. For arm vibrato, it's pretty wide and beautifully controlled.

I took a small vibrato and used it very sensitive to stay in a pupil´s world, who can´t use vibrato at the time he learns that concert (usually) ;)

+TheTwiolins hmm. That's nice to know. It prevents that urge to try to go ahead too fast. It's like when you see you instructor do cool things and you miserable fail in your attempts and have fallen behind because you haven't focused on things you were supposed to.

Ich spiele seit 2,5 Jahren Geige und habe in einer Woche mit diesem Stück ein schulinternes Konzert. Ich bin froh, wenn ich alle Töne einigermassen treffe und mein Geigenlehrer bei der Begleitung auf dem Klavier nicht total verzweifelt.... Es ist ein soooooo schönes Stück und ich hoffe, dass ich es dann in 10 Jahren auch mal so schön hinkriege.

Es ist ein wahres Vergnügen, mit SchülerInnenkonzerten von Oscar Rieding bei Kindern, Jugendlichen und auch Erwachsenen eine musikalische geigerische Grundlage zu legen. Sie sind herzlich, musikalisch, immer mit schaffbaren Hürden, also rücksichtsvoll komponiert. Wer allerdings sein schwierigstes op.7 in e-Moll mühelos spielen kann, kann sich längst an höhere Aufgaben wagen.
