Can't believe Ridley is 80 years old. He in no way acts or looks it. I hope I'm as full of life and creativity at this age.

Yeahh, Legend, Some Watch Over Me, Black Rain, 1492 Conquest Of Paradise, White Squall, G.I.Jane, Robin Hood, Prometheus....

Such an amazing director! Full of experience, creativity and skill. He’s not braggadocious, but not completely modest either ... and rightfully so. Let’s all appreciate his presence, his knowledge and his legacy!

Say what you will about some of his films, the guy is a machine.

That is because he pretty much NEVER composes alone.. I can't believe he took the glory and made it sound like he composed the theme to pirates of the caribbean himself. It was Klaus Badelt who composed the main theme; and that's how it is for almost all movies... Hans Zimmer is not a person, but a company that hires a lot of composers and orchestrators. Hans Zimmer the person formidable businessman, but actually pretty crappy composer

Also, he has a private studio. PRIVATE. He doesn't rent it out to 3rd party engineers or composers. This proves he is a composer. If you still want to be ignorant about the issue check out his Masterclass set of videos.

He needs his own documentary, like how Spielberg did with HBO.

Ridley you gave me my favorite movie of all time, Blade Runner, I will always be grateful for this masterpiece and I'm saddened by Rutger's death as he was an excellent person in real life and that translated into the role that gave the soul in that movie, his role.

The fact that he didn't get the Best Director Oscar nomination for All The Money In The World AFTER he pulled off the impossible feat of replacing one of the 3 lead actors at the last minute still stuns me

THIS is a director. a master class. Thank you, Ridley!!!

The Xenomorph is easily the greatest movie created monster of all time. The design is just completely unique and terrifying. It's both beautiful and disgusting at the same time because of how perfectly made it is.

My favourite director, love even his lesser appreciated films like Black Rain, Body of Lies, American Gangster, Kingdom of Heaven, The Duelists . A long with all the classics, Alien, Bladerunner, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down etc... so many works of art.

All his films are visually stunning!! the way he films is 5 star! just a few script problems here and there :) I love Black Rain and I could say a lot about all his films but one that impressed me was Black Hawk Down! it was so busy!! loads of action going on but he was able to film it in a way that you knew what was going on!! and who was who!! unlike directors such as Michael Bay! who creates a bunch of mess and you lose track of whats going on

He Directed so many Great Films! Sir Ridley Scott, Clint Eastwood and Christopher Nolan are my Inspiration not Only in Filmmaking but in Life there Mindset are Amazing!

WOW!!! He was 42 when he directed Alien (1979). And that movie is what made him BIG in the US!! Usually some young directors quit in their 20s and 30s because they can never make a movie, but his BIG BREAK came @ 42!! That's cool!! Which is awesome because Im 34 and I still have time to make it big as a director. Morale of the story, NEVER GIVE UP YOUR BEAUTIFUL DREAMS!!!!

Ridley Scott is the one overlooked director. I know he's not a filmmaker to win an Oscar but I still hope he'll win a competitive Oscar which will be for his career at this point if he gets an honorary Oscar to me that's a Booby prize, Oscar. If he stops making those awful Alien prequels then the DGA and Academy will take him more seriously he's the best director working today.

My favourite director he's amazing, just wish they allowed him to speak on Prometheus and Alien Covenant but other wise this is amazing

My favorite filmmaker together with John Carpenter. Always interesting hearing him talk about his movies.

This man is a master of his craft. Underrated. Also, RIP Rutger Hauer.

Ridley Scott is Not Underrated but acknowledged by all - as one of the very best directors !

I've taken a genuine interest in many of the films that Ridey Scott spoke about. He certainly gave a pretty sanitised version for some of his films.

He is one of my most favorite directors of all time and to be still doing movies in his 80s is amazing

He directed Blade Runner? What?! How did this man direct so many poignant films?! I'm just learning of him as a director. Amazing

This is a great series. Do one with David Lynch. He has such a unique personality and some great stories about his films that would be great to see.

christopher plumber's green screening into all the money in the world is SEEMLESS and deserves a watch just for that alone (it also happens to be one of Scott's best movies).

Love this director & love the movies he’s directed such as Bladerunner and Alien.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see how many in the comment section remember Black Rain. Very good, gritty action/cop thriller. I love the chemistry between Michael Douglas and Ken Takakura.

Wish this was longer and gave him an opportunity to touch on each of his films.

Great stuff but it missed the movie I wanted to hear him talk about the most: Kingdom of Heaven. It would also be interesting to hear him talking about his "failures" like Legend and A Good Year or Robin Hood.

Vanity Fair, you guys could easily get an intern to do the closed captions for your videos. Even regular KZreadrs get captions done.

He's not saying there haven't been books written about how to direct actors. His point is that there isn't one definitive way to direct, no cookie-cutter methods that apply to every scenario. You have to be adaptable and flexible as a director and apply different tactics based on the situation, but the same could be said of actors.

You forgot the iconic Hovis Boy on the Bike advert.

Sir Ridley, what a big and better brother forever. I watched The Counselor and it scared the bejesus out of me. You see, a long-long time ago I had a problem with that powder up in my nose, and I have even been to Mexico many times too.

Is there a full version that I missed?

I wish this was longer, i wouldve loved to hear him talk about the other movies he did, too. Like Exodus, American Gangster, Prometheus, The Counselor, Alien Covenant. His not so great movies should be accounted for! Lol
