This isn't the kind of trick you do in a family setting. This trick is to be done in a SHOW setting, it's not a "pocket trick". You can do it for your family as a parlor show, but in a SHOW format where your family would be instructed and hopefully respectful enough to not be shouting out or badgering you in the middle of the show. You have to learn to "control" or manage your audience even if it's your family. When you have a full set of rings, there are a couple that can be freely handled, and you work from there with your audience. You can let them examine them freely, but then you can learn to do some tricky moves etc even with those, and end up with a magical result. After that, you work into other routines and the audience is less suspicious of the rings because they've already seen you do something with rings that they were able to examine. In a normal Show environment, the audience doesn't have a chance to examine all the rings after you're done, but if in a family setting where you have people who are going to badger you to see stuff, you either simply tell them you don't allow your magic equipment to be examined and they need to respect that if they want to see you show them fun things, OR, you find a way to "ditch" the dirty ring behind a table, and show them the last set of rings you did a trick with, such as the set of 2 or 3 linked rings. Once you do the trick and show the rings linked, they can look at them all they want and will find nothing, But you have already ditched the dirty ring before you get to the point where you show the set of rings that have linked. If clever enough, you can also hold back one of the solid ungimmicked rings behind the table and do a SWITCH with the dirty one at some point before allowing them to be examined. You have to learn to anticipate and outsmart your audience. I guarantee you if I did the trick for them (in a SHOW environment), they would THINK they have examined the rings and would have no idea how it's done. You don't show the rings ahead of time, because you do the trick in the middle of other routines and simply bring out some rings and introduce the next trick, and if you do the routine the way it's supposed to be done, you are introducing them "one at a time" so they appear innocent, then proceed to to the trick, It will be AFTER the trick is done they will want to examine them closely, and by then they can examine all but the dirty one. So find a way to ditch it, and even if they suspect you still have a gimmicked one somewhere, it won't explain to them how you apparently LINKED ALL THE OTHERS. so there will still be mystery they CAN'T EXPLAIN,.
