Thank you for the really nice comment Michael. Glad to hear you are having a good time with us. Very much appreciate your taking the time to write in and also for watching the ride on the rails video my friend.
Wow! Took a ride down memory lane with this video. I grew up in a coal town. Name was Beadling , Pa. About 15 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, Pa. As kids we would play in the slate dumps. The slate dumps were always smoldering. My mother would pour Tide in the bathwater to clean me up. After a while the slate dumps quit smoldering. the piles of tailings were about 20 feet high. After the dumps quit smoldering the tailings turned red. They called it red dog. People would take the Redog from the dumps and put down the red dog on their driveways.. Many happy times roaming the hills around our town.

Lot of township roads around here were red dog Matt. Can't hardly get it anymore but you are right, it was cheap and well used back in the day. Slate dumps were perfect place for kids to play....:-) Thank you for the nice comment and glad you enjoyed the video my friend.
This has been a truly fascinating series. Who'd have thought there would be so much of interest to see on a 17 mile railroad. Thanks again for the ride.

As I said before, this was like taking a Sunday joy ride with my dad or with Gramps. Felt like a kid again, going "sight seeing"! Thank you for putting the track ride videos out; I love watching your videos. The tidbits of this and that are always neat and informative. Boy, are there LOTS of curves! Thanks for sharing!!

We have rock cuts everywhere by me in the driftless area of Wisconsin. Sometimes we have rock falls the size of dump trucks! They have to come with giant jack hammers to bust the rocks up to clear the road. The road we take to town has boulders falling all the time, but they usually don't make it to the road. That spray would work great around here! Maybe some time you could attach a camera to a magnetic mount and stick it to the front of one of the locomotives. It would make an awesome 'cab view' video!

We were all surprised at how well that Mandosill worked (spelling?) it was an experiment they did, wish they had did a lot more. Thanks for the suggestion, I've got several possibilities may do in the future. Hopefully the leaves will be much better this fall, it is beautiful when that happens. I'm watching shoot position as I answer this! is that serendipitous or what!

@@ccrx6700 If you film with a GoPro, try the 'TimeWarp' mode. It will give you a time-lapse video with ultra smooth motion. The entire railroad tour would take like 5 minutes and appear like the camera is flying. Give it a try some time! Just swipe right in the settings, and TimeWarp is right above TimeLapse 😊
What a way to start my day! Morning coffee with views of Whiteley Creek and my wonderful Creek Road! 😍Mapletown and crossing Route 88! And riding the rails with Dave into the Harbor and to the end of the line! Thank you, sir!

Well now it's official: I have no life. I just watched all four videos covering the entire track, plus I followed on Google Earth to see the surroundings. The most interesting thing is that the track sank due to cave ins far below. Crazy stuff! Thanks, Dave, for the videos. Very interesting, and I don't even like trains much.

Wow cool Clarence. Really appreciate your riding the track with us tonight. Glad you enjoyed track traveling. Thank you so much for the very nice comment my friend. What a fun time it was for us trying to keep that track surface up to grade from those long wall drops. it was incredible to see that track drop 2 or more feet in such a short distance. A very intense time for us with a lot of extra days involved.
I am always reminded of how much you know about the line. What is cribbed, what needs to be cribbed, what bridge had guard rails, and which ones didn't. A scenic ride on top of all that knowledge :)

Pretty scenery, we have nothing but rocks in Phoenix area, some people claim it's pretty landscape here and I just don't get it. Hey Dave, thank you so much for sharing this! I haven't commented on the last video or two, but I'm still watching these and enjoying you talking about your rails. It's so impressive how much you know about the track and the land surrounding it, but I guess that comes with all of the blood, sweat, and tears you've put in during your time there. It's a beautiful area and I'm so glad to see it through your "office!" And I've been putting quite a few hours recently into getting the footage all together - I'm trying something a little different myself with a little narration to add to the visuals. It's taking a while but I'm happy with what I've come up with so far... hoping to have something to share very soon!

I will remember to do that sometime, yes it is really nice when everything is coming out after a dull drab colorless winter, it's something I look forward to every year T R. Very much appreciate your taking the time to visit with us and check out the riding the rails video my friend.
Very good Dave thank you for the entire track, now we know what both ends look like and lived the rock cuts and bridges, but didn't expect a literal wall at the end of the harbor. But thats cool to see it. Great series...
