Seems like a recent decent urban commuter. Spritely, Honda-reliable, economical, roomy. There are still the RE 650s, though... Gotta say, double front mudguards look absolutely stupid, no matter what bike they're on! Dumping the high, white one would help a LOT with those looks.

I said down below in response to Duncan, that I didn't like the white accessories. As the video progressed, they started to make more sense. Possibly a replacement for my 390 Duke as a second bike, behind my big scrambler.

If you want to dye plastic, it's easiest when it's white and basically impossible with dark colors. So if you're only gonna offer 1 color plastics that's the best one to do IMO

Couriers used to ride all over the UK on CX500. Heavier bike with 50hp. You cant ride many places anymore at 120mph+......so, its enough.

Just test rode one from Honda, very light, extremely light clutch, which after a TT900 for 12 years is a bonus, good in traffic and again quite torquey even after being used to a 900, obviously hasn’t got the acceleration but lots going for it. Not keen on digital speedos, can’t really see it in bright sunlight. All round quite fun!

I definitely prefer the look of the scram 411… I keep thinking that give it a year or two and there will be a load of accessories for the Honda, especially if rally raid get their hands on it

I can see many reasons to buy this over a Scram or Hymalayan.. mainly the extra power of course… but it’s not a looker. Without the accessory bodywork it just looks like a jacked up cruiser (which it is).. personally I’d look at the Benelli Leoncino 500 or the Fantic Caballero 500.. both much much nicer looking and both equally bargain price.

  • @user-sw2lv3zp6o

Nothing wrong with jacked-up cruisers, although this isn't because the Rebel is only a normal bike in cruiser clothes. I don't like the white accessories. I do like the Fantic, but the Benelli is a bit lardy for a 500. And it will depreciate like crazy.

I disagree with that. It follows the metro-cruiser aesthetic, which blends the classic stance with practical and futuristic (punk even?) design. Admiring both bikes, I imagine that one day when we’ve moved onto another planet, there’s a random collection of space-craft materials around and someone builds these machines. My eyes see my imagination coming to life with these bikes design.

I love it. Love the retro looks. My budget was 5k but I am tempted to stretch to this. I think this will be fine for the motorway. If traffic is doing 70 I'll probably not be looking to overtake anyway.

The look is the entire reason this and the rebel got those sells :v..... Well, that and everyone and their grandma, promoting it as a beginner bike. Not sure where all the hate for these beautiful bikes is coming from , lol. I want it, but from what I'm gathering, it won't do so good at 70mph on the highway.

This bike with the white mudguard and other white accessories looks horrific. I've seen the bike without these white attachments and it looks rather nice, nevertheless I imagine that this bike is going to bomb because 46 HP is too little for anyone to be interested due to the fact that beginner riders are going to go more towards either the Rebel 500 or the CB500F. This is something in-between that simply seems lacking in every respect. The LCD dash is just about useless if it's sunny, the amount of HP is insufficient for highway speeds and those looking for a city bike just for commuting will probably go for a scooter or a 125 to 300 cc bike. I don't see a target public that will be interested in this bike because it's neither here nor there.
