Sometimes we dig a cubic meter for sampling (1x1x1 perfectly cube of soil), the rocks & tree roots at deeper depths are a sun of a gun to deal with. Finally, I'm literally assigning two of your videos to my soil science class for extra credit b/c you work with soil so much (& it's obvi very entertaining + better than any videos I can produce for class). Imagining Ben launching over the hedge into the neighbor's yard. Next episode...HEDGE GAP!!! I'd call the extra line the 'Daisy Chain' or 'The Shortcut' because it's bypassing the shark fin. I think a proper low easy whale tail would be sick through there and give plenty of speed to gap into the berm and carry heaps of speed into the bigger features.

Off the second hip make an alternate landing where Ben went at around 45:08 and make a berm after leading into the third line. You could have two bail out options, one where you already planned after the cambered roller, and one before.

If you make some cob (clay and straw mixed together,) The sugars and starch will bind it together . Straw can be used to dry out wet spots too, by binding the water, it gets better the more it is stepped on or ridden. I have first hand experience from drying out festival dancefloors and of course dirtjumps. Cob is used for housebuilding still in the UK. Straw can make stuff rideable in less than an hour, but it needs to be stepped on or something to make the straw do it's thing.

Can you imagine what the neighbors would think if out of nowhere Ben goes flying over the hedge and crashes into their yard

The drone shots really show the beauty and flow of the whole thing. SO sick

Ben's line - triple roller set/one double into a left hip with lip close as possible to berm top, jumping over berm with the landing at the edge of where the grass is turfed to and will lead into second lip for chunkiest piece. The left-turning berm looks a bit sharp and might lose to much speed. Straighten out berm into left hipped takeoff, doubling straightish into a new landing parallel with the hedge.

Thanks to this awesome series, I've started renovating some old dirt jumps in my local park. Loads of people have been super enthusiastic and it looks like my childhood dream of getting a mini digger down there might come true! Cheers! :)

You should do a video on how to determine the distances of everything while building it. For example how to space out the features so there not too close or too far apart, how to determine the distance to build a landing after a takeoff stuff like that.. maybe not an entire video but during each video throw out some tips or tricks and stuff like that. Stuff that a new trail builder will take a lot of trial and error to learn. Thanks for the content it’s amazing

Matt dude you need to get a "tamper" it's a big flat metal square on a stick to compress the dirt down so your not cutting into your berms or soft dirt. Also layering the dirt might help, layer dirt tamp down soak then add another layer and repeat the water holds the layers together and tamping them down makes the dirt go rock hard.

I don't even own a bike, heck i don't even think i jumped one when i was younger...but i just can't get enough of these videos! typically came across them from the 'KZread recommend' and I've been hooked since. I think what i love most is the dedication Matt put towards this channel and the partnership (Clearly a Bromance) between him and Ben. Cheers mate for putting in such a shift these past few weeks for not only me but also the rest of the viewers who are trying to get through such a difficult time in the world right now.

Since watching this has inspired me and my mates to build trails so thanks for the inspiration

When everyone is locked down, you make it possible to vicariously live through you with the amount of fun you are having outdoors. 🍻

The third line 45:06 should be called “Doozy Daisy” just cause that slips off the tongue and cause Ben loves his bypasses and daisies. Also, I don’t think it should be something crazy cause you’re probably losing control going into that bypass third line, make a small jump into the berm just so you can recalibrate and still get enough speed for the straight up jump into the big landing.
