Riding Recumbent Trike on the Walmart Razorback Greenway in Arkansas
My friends Ben, Dotty, Richard, and their puppy Teddy took a few recumbent trikes out on the Razorback Greenway Trail in Arkansas. It was built by the Walton foundation and is a great ride thru several beautiful landscapes.
We took this as a chance to test out a series of trike models, the Catrike 559 and the new Terra Trike Spyder.
Thanks to Dogwood Junction for loaning us the trike for the trip!

Hey Jayoe, haven't watch your channel for awhile and wonder if you have a video explaining what happened to you? Where is your bike? Why are you back in the US? What is your direction for your channel? Im curious if you will Vlog the US and show us the difference US vs Asia? keep up the good works!
Occasional visits to trike shops and quick rides like this while travelling and building out the van will be neat. I bet those bike/trike store owners have some interesting tales to tell.

Matt needs to be invited to give trike-travel lectures in retirement community clubhouses everywhere especially in Florida. They have tons of trike trails there. Most seniors are unaware of the world of trike riding that awaits them. If they can't travel themselves, they can do so through Matt's videos. A Win-Win formula for sure!
That's a great and a terrible question in one. The thing with the trike adventures is you get to see so much detail. So there is obviously the great scenery and unique perspective. But it's the detail the cracks in the tar with little plants sprouting from them. Perhaps the not focused on glimps of some idiosyncratic thing that appeals to an individual that the leisurely pace allows. I saw so many things in the passing that probably meant nothing to anyone else , I would often rewind and watch certain scenes over so I could focus on another aspect. Watching every episode as they came out was often the highlight of my day.
Trike riding can never get enough visibility! You have become the Johnny Appleseed of trike touring. Trike riding is still in its infancy. Bored seniors are just waiting to be introduced to the exciting world of trike riding. Ahhhh! Hi-Ho! JaYoe!
Fantastic video in so many respects. A theme that remains interesting and can be repeated again and again around the country. Your hosts were quite gracious and informative. Arkansas is a fine and proud example for getting these marvelous trails in place.
I really miss those trike tours of yours, they were quite relaxing and interesting! Maybe you should get a trailer for your van to store a trike :)

Safe triking is made much more possible now because so many dedicated trails are going in everywhere.
This summer, you need to come up to Missoula, Montana. We have a paved trail between Missoula and Hamilton. It is called the Bitterroot Trail and is an approximately 50-mile paved trail. Study it and plan to be there! Ahhhh! Hi-Ho! JaYoe!
I loved Japan and Korea most so far - and I miss your rides! Thanks for triking again ;-)
I got a catrike Expedition 3 weeks before Christmas 2021 love it ! Very light !
Enjoy your ride - I have a Catrike Blue Road just like your friend is riding today. I'm 84 years young and been triking for 7 years. Not electric yet! Still enjoying my youth!
What a beautiful trail.
Lols, fond memories of my time living in Springdale and Fayetteville, AR. Thanks.
Miss the trike days. F--- covid ruining all the plans. Was hoping you would end up here in Scandinavia some day too.
Good to see you back on a trike man. I don't know if I found you by looking at Trikes or if I looked up trikes because of you. My favourite was those miserable 100km slogs you did. I can imagine the despair of how much further you needed to go and relief at arriving at a comfortable rest area. That low high contrast was really entertaining.
Hello Matt and hello Ben! Hal out here in Tucson. Bought my first trike from Dogwood Junction in 2015 and cut my teeth on the Razorback Greenway. I recognized every one of the video segments including one background in particular. As you were commenting about the sign (trail under water....) in the background was the apartment where I lived while in grad school 1992-1994. 😉 The Razorback Greenway is a wonderful system and Ben and Dogwood Junction are the best for getting trikes and accessories. Pandemic messed up my travel plans for 2021 but I'll get there early fall of 2022!
Those big green fruits are called "horse apples" from Osage Orange or Bois d'arc trees. The wood of the tree is yellow to orange and makes great bows (for shooting) and fence posts that don't rot. It's been said that, for native Americans, a good bow made from Osage was worth a pony and blanket. A friend of mine makes bows from the wood and they're beautiful.
You have the most interesting channel, amazing what you do and where you have gone. Love your video’s God bless.
I saw the US news about tornado disaster near your area. I am glad all of you are safe and sound. Jayoe.
I couldn’t locate the episode where you adopted the injured bird. Either that or the one where old mate forgot his bag at the hostel were 2 of my faves.
This was a great video. Glad to see you back on a trike.
Thanks !
Cute dog!
I enjoyed the drone videos of the winding path and the trikes. That is something I don' t see everyday!
This felt normal. Good memories from watching you in Hokkaido and Jeju island.

Wow fun ride. You meet such nice people on your travels!
That was great! Miss these videos.
My Greenspeed Magnum XL is set up with FOUR flag poles! I want to find two multi-colored windsocks that will fill with air and dance around to catch the eyes of car drivers. That spiral tail in this video is perfect for establishing maximum visibility, And you can put blinking lights all up and down on the flag poles. Having my four flag poles is great.

You don't mind all the extra wind drag then, or you don't really get into the need for speed? I have 12volt led blinkys on my Magnum big wheel that are pretty bright so I'm considering replacing my stock Greenspeed flagpole with more rear leds at head height. I saw the Bikes, Trikes and Razors video of how much drag a single flag makes, and that adds up during a 5 hour ride.

@@rossbrumby1957 - Safety over convenience always for me. If you are completely away from traffic, your need for flagpoles vanishes. Electric motors help a lot although I don't have one.
Sure wish I knew you were going to be in NWA I would have driven down from Kansas City to ride with you! Love Ben and Dogwood Junction. Riding with you is on my bucket list.

There is a dynamic and ongoing marriage taking place here. Between trike-riding, video technology while riding one, and the event-reach a van can make possible for driving to all these unique locations, events, and interesting people just waiting to be interviewed. I feel you have underappreciated retirement communities like those in Florida though. Their members can be introduced to trike riding on safe trails where possible and they can join JaYoe Nation and follow your latest travels to places like the Bitterroot Trail in Montana and Traverse City, Michigan. They'll get up in the morning anxious to see the world through you and check KZread to see if another video of yours is up yet. The trike PLUS an RV and studio comprise a marriage that is exponentially grandiose. So informative and so entertaining! The ideal place to ride a trike and hand out JaYoe Nation flyers is a festival like the week-long cherry festival in Traverse City. Ahhhh! Hi-Ho! JaYoe!
Matt the manufacturer of your trike in China should pay to ship it out to USA. I have learned so much from the brand and honestly a bit disappointed that you cant keep riding yours that has so much brand recognition!
I started watching you when you were triking thru Vietnam. I continued to follow you, even thru the C, your trip to US and return to China. I began to lose interest when your style changed to more talking head and less travel. I'm now revisiting you and I'm enjoying these trike episodes. I'm kind of over- saturated with van life from so many other You Tube content creators. You do excellent work. I trust you will create unique content as you have managed to in the past.
Traverse City, Michigan is the cherry capital of the U.S. They have a week-long cherry festival every summer! Study it and plan to be there! Ahhhh! Hi-Ho! JaYoe!
Really nice bike path....
Good to see you back on a trike Matt as your van life vids just ain't got the same pull for me.
I'm finally getting my trike on the road. I've rode twice now, fixin'to go for a ride this afternoon... weather permitting
Hedge balls like has been said. Squirrels, deer eat them. Also people say if you put hedge balls in your house they will keep insects away. They sell them here in "the city" at the grocery store. I appreciate your videos. This is the first one I have seen but won't be the last.
Well if you ever want to visit Catrike, you can come here to sunny Florida Orlando, and then I can come and see you

Take an old mattress cover and cut it into a small section and fold it to cover the bottom and sides of that milk crate. Better comfort for the little Papillon dog.
Well, I started following you after a certain Shenzhen individual showed you around that town where I used to live for 2 years (no names mentioned to protect the guilty lol.) But your trip through Japan was where I was most interested in having lived there for 5 or so years and subsequently worked in the Japanese inbound tourism sector in Australia (before the GFC). I especially enjoyed the live-stream from Mt. Fuji. 加油 !!!
Trike Hobo, a Spyder would be a fun ride on a supported tour where a truck carries your gear! I've done several of these over the years on my uprights, and always enjoyed them. My favorites included the Shoreline Tours, DALMAC, and MS 150 here in Michigan.
In Ohio we call those hedgeapples and horses love them ! Good to see you on the trike! Put Richmond IN on your bucket list, US 40 goes right thru the middle of town ( home to some of the 1st recorded Jazz in the US, Whitewater Gorge Project as my late Dad called it and some really cool history!)

You guys are looking great. Hope you escaped the tornadoes.
All of Japan s great, all episodes with King Kong! And the cave series with Matt 2.
Sorry Matt, long time subscriber, you need to mention Annie and Eva, some people have their hearts broken by family courts, what about you,?
Bit o' judder on the drone footage at 11:22-ish. Great to see you back in the chair, been a long time coming. Any chance yours is coming to the US?
Horse apples or hedge apples will keep bugs out of house.
Those Osage Oranges or horse apples are also called BODARK apples in Texas where I first saw therm in northeastern Texas in 1960. Not for human consumption.
Maclura pomifera, is the technical name for the Osage orange, hedge apples, or Horse apples in your video. Grown on the "Hedge Tree" which were commonly used to make fence lines with hence the "Hedge posts'" The apples are used in cosmetics and are generally sold to the ton to processors by property owners that happen to have the trees. It's a cash crop by happen stance.

That answer is wrong tristananedmunds4633. Lol. Those are actually black walnuts! You take a hammer (yes a hammer) and knock the yellow stuff off. Then the inside is the shelled walnut. That shell is also gently hammered off and the rich black walnut is inside. Yummy!
Unfortunatly trikes are always a storage problem. If you live in the city you have to store it in the appartment or the basment - so you need a foldable trike and those are pretty expensive. My landlord forbids big bikes parking in the backyard. :( My favorite trike riding was - testing a 26" HP Scorpion with Swissdrive. :-)
As soon as they develop a time machine, I want to transport a trike back in time and get Abraham Lincoln to ride one! He was tall so his X-seam will be long. Probably 45.

I ve been thinking about one of this but I ve never been on one but I worry about safety on roads ? There's a shop that has a used one for sale may ask for demo? I worry about sitting position aches . I got 3 reg bikes and 3 pedal assist e bikes able to squise tru slim spaces . But they look like fun .

miss you on the duck. 🤔you need your duck.
I'm a partially blind author and illustrator of children's literature. Due to my limited vision and poor stability, I ride a recumbent trike. I'm a substitute teacher, and can't afford a lot, but my trike is 20 years old and weighs 50 lbs. I'm also a bigger guy. What would you recommend for a limited budget and for someone who isn't short or skinny? I'm very open to a folding trike, but realize they have their limitations. Thanks!
If there was a lift mechanism that would allow folks with bad knees to sit on it at chair height and then lower down to riding height I could see more people wanting to ride an electric pedal assist with full throttle reverse trike. Add a weather proof locking climate controlled enclosure for a complete nap pod on wheels.
Those green things are hedge apples you don’t want to eat them.
