16:33 is literally the SAME pun I was thinking when I heard the name of the line😂
Fun fact: This line was supposed to all be opened at once from Nagasaki ~ Hakata but Saga Prefecture didn't agree to the shinkansen line being built in their prefecture. The reason is that for Saga prefecture there isn't much of a merit for a bullet train line because the shinansen will only be 15 minutes faster from Hakata ~ Saga than a regular express train...

It's not that Saga doesn't want the Shinkansen, at least necessarily. It's a cost thing. They're hoping to get a better deal from JR where they can pay less for its construction and where more of the total cost is covered by JR.

@@TheZenomeProject hmm interesting. I heard that Saga didn’t want the bullet train from a Japanese KZreadr by the name of Suits Train (スーツ交通) where he got the info from some credible sources such as news outlets and JR themselves.

Rationally speaking wouldn’t the main benefit not be the faster trip from Nagasaki to Hakata but rather a one-seat ride to the other Kyushu Shinkansen stations? Or are they still going to require transfers?
I knew it! There is NO way that this video was all about the Shinkansen! Kuga didn't disappoint with a good segment devoted to food, oh so delicious! Thanks!
The absolute best thing about major Japanese train stations is that you can't step one foot in the door without being hit with the smell of delicious local food. It's a sensation that is practically impossible to find anywhere in the world. Usually the rent in these shops is too expensive for anything besides major chains to buy, but one difference is that the local Japanese city governments are very steadfast about making sure that their local flavors are marketed up front.
I'm always amazed at the width of Shinkansen trains. I didn't think you'd be able to fit that much on standard gauge!
@heavyhauler426
Жыл бұрын
11 feet 2 inches (3.4 meters) is the width of their loading gauge. In the USA, the most common width allowed is 10 feet 8 inches (3.25 meters). Im surprised our 20ft (6.1m) double stack container trains dont tip over sitting on standard gauge.
That's really cool that they sponsored you, and let you take a preview journey!
Classic Kuga video! The joy of discovering a new train, the mouthwatering food, and then some historical background as the cherry on top! Perfect! And congratulations on the sponsorship, Kuga San!
Travel videos like yours makes me wish we lived in Japan. A beautiful country indeed.
You do such a good job at explaining the local history and culture. Thank you for this video, I was so excited about the new shinkansen though I don't know when I would be able to visit Japan :)
The train looks amazing! I wish we had super fast trains in Western Australia, but that's all a pipe dream for now.

Agreed, they make the trains here in the U.S. seem so ghetto (and slow). Not holding my breath we're gonna have something this cool here anytime soon though.
Dear JR Kyushu, mission accomplished! I now want to visit Kyushu next time I go to Japan. I mean, I did before watching this video, but now I extra-extra want to. Kuga-san, I've been watching your videos for the past two years, and they have proven a wonderful comfort, and a reminder of how amazing Japan is. Before 2020, I traveled there more or less yearly, and I've been missing it so much! I hope that in 2023 I can make the journey back to Japan once more. I hope you keep making your fantastic videos!
what a recognition to be invited! congratulations!
This is a great video and Japanese trains are amazing along with European trains. Our family had the opportunity to ride the first Japanese bullet train in 1972. Our father used to fly at captain on Flying Tiger Line and spent a lot of time in Japan on trips. Our trip went from Tokyo to a town outside Tokyo and stayed in a Japanese Rican and there was no English there, but my dad did know enough Japanese to get around spending so much time there. Japan some of lowest crime compared to the United States.
We got a cool train, delicious looking food, and a history lesson all in one! Love it!
I watch a bunch of Japanese train KZreadrs so I'm looking forward to their videos about this new shinaknsen line when it opened to the public! :)
The more I watch your channel, the more I realize half the fun of being there will be taking the train to travel across the country.
That train looks like a Mazda Rx7 !!
How exciting for you! Thanks for taking us along on your trip! ❤
1:15 Not to sound rude but the last Shinkansen line was the Hokkaido Shinkansen from Shin Aomori to Shin Hakodate Hokuto which opened in 2016 so it’s been 6 years since the last Shinkansen line…
Every time I see that Kamome's front end, it always reminds me of an Alfa Romeo's front end, especially the shield... That said, high-speed rail enthusiasts will mark this new Shinkansen train in their bucket lists.
Looked like a smooth ride.

Great trip. Finally new Shinkansen route, and brand new train.
Imagine being sponsored by a whole railway company!
I love the look of the reserved class seats. Especially all the wooden details what is used there. It looks so nice.
Welcome back from Europe. Looking forward to seeing your tour.
Fab review, loved the history part, very interesting. This is what makes you better than some others, always bring something new :)

Very beautiful red and white bullet train 🎉👍🥳🌷
Thank you Kuga san! It’s really nice to add some sightseeing and introduce some local specialties to us. Nagasaki castella is the best!
What a cool new train.. looks like a fancy sports car. Thanks for the video👍 greetings from USA
I love Shinkansen KAMOME. Nice movie. Thank you.
Beautiful 🌿and it looks so cute as well! Can almost feel the smell of a new train. We always travel around Kyushu by car, but definitely have to try this one the next time.
Superb video with superb Shinkansen! 😊Awesome video.. ❤ love it!
Superb! Amazing!
It's a real beauty!
Thank you for posting this amazing vídeo. I'm afraid I'll unfortunately never take that beautiful Kamome Shinkansen, but at least I can enjoy your ride.
Look how smooth at speed 👍
gorgeous!
Unbelievable cleanliness and order
EXCELLENT!!!
I just love how much effort you put into your videos! And as a german person to see that japan also has such a big train culture. When I was a little child I had a model train and always went to train stations just to watch the trains .3.
Hello from 🇵🇹 really nice food tour 😋
nice livery, i love it
I love your train journey

Hi Kuga- Your Bullet trains are sleek and beautiful. Nice :D
NICE TOUR...
You captured some really beautiful shots in this video! Great work! Keep it up! Thanks so much!
I like the live music that was a nice touch!
Very nice video!
Kuga's videos, especially this gives you a insight into the historical and traditional aspects of Japanese culture. The Modern and contemporary facets of Japan are well illustrated. Wonderful how the SHINKANSEN is revolved around contemporary Japan.
Awesome
They stop too perfect omg
A beautiful train
I love your channel but I miss the snow! I hope this coming winter you are able to do a lot more snowscapes and walks through snowy cities.
I was surprised how wide they were as I expected them to be narrow like Concorde
A Shinkansen in my favorite color, now i need to go to kyushu
Bullet trains in Hihon are like smartphones - always newer and newer. Shinkansen ga daisuki desu! 💓💗💕💖💝
Looks so much like an Alfa Romeo!
Beautiful design in the reserved seating with a subtle Japanese cloth motif. However the non reserved seats and floor look like a kitchen area. What were they thinking!. Yellow and grey; not restful or easy on the eye. As always beautifully filmed and uniquely Japanese train design. 👍🏻🏴

Wow, a sponsorship from the railway itself!
Castella Fukusaya. One of my favourite treats whenever I'm in Japan. I've tried other brands, but I'm yet to find one anywhere near as good. That said, they've been making it for several hundred years now.
Mr. Eiji Mitooka, who is in charge of designing the white painted express type Kamome "Series 885" in the video and the West Kyushu Shinkansen Kamome "N700S" in JR Kyushu's corporate color of red, has designed almost all of JR Kyushu's trains and is the most famous person in the Japanese railroad industry.

Not sure if I have to object here - because we have to agree on what part of "design" we talk about. The outer shape of the 885, as for many Hitachi trains was made by fellow German Alexander Neumeister. He has worked for both, Hitachi and Siemens for about 30 years. That's why the ICE3 / Siemens Velaro and many members of Hitachi's A-Train series look so similar. He also worked some projects for Talbot (later Bombardier), that's why the first generation Talent regional trains look very similar to the ICE-T tilt trains. I think however, that Neumeister does not really contribute to paint schemes and interior designs of these trains.
Congratulations on the sponsor 🙏🏻
Looks so familiar, doesn't it. Looks almost like the CRH ordered more CRH2 railcars
Thanks

Dream to go by such train
Nice to see Hakata station. I miss Fukuoka
This cake at the end looks to me like a sponge 🤪
Very enjoyable video. What camera did you use?
Awesome video, as always! Isn't the limited express Kamome the same type of train as the British Class 395? They do look similar.
Recently travelled on this line from Nagasaki to Hakata station. I was concerned about the 3 minute allowance to transfer trains at Takeo-Onsen station. I didn't need to worry. The train was sitting there waiting for the shinkansen, and I literally only had to walk across the platform onto the new train. Took all of 10 seconds.
And the worst thing about the kamome is that the line is only 66 km so we can’t experience it for that long 😭
❤ Kamome❤💚💙🧡💜サイコー👌🇯🇵
Man I'm so jelous of japanese high speed rail. The US has such a limited amount of fast trains and where I live there are none. I would love to experience going on one in Japan at some point in my life.
The acceleration on this train is unlike any I've ever seen...
Wow this looks amazing…are you back from Europe already? Still waiting for some of the videos from your other channel to be loaded here…😁
