I’ve used Northern Rail on occasions and the longer trains (not the Pacers) are very comfortable between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport and from Ashton to Manchester Victoria - I’ve had their Pacers between Manchester Piccadilly on SailRail to Chester one afternoon in summer 2018 when going back to Ireland for my Dad’s funeral and it was sweltering hell on earth, with my having to wear a black suit and tie, although quieter, but at least I made my connection with Virgin trains Wales to Holyhead on time for the overnight Irish Ferries sailing to Dublin

Wow!! Those trains look so nice inside!! Lovely exterior and interior! Look how fast they go as well! Much faster than in the UK! The food looks absolutely declious, and it's so useful you can book in advance online! One of my pet peeves with trains is when the window alignment with the seat is poor, like on some of the trains including the Pendolino and the IET. Oh, I'll also mention when you stopped at Zaragoza, I believe that's where the CAF Civity's, 195, 196, 197, 331, 397, etc were constructed! On the whole, I really enjoyed watching G!

Spanish high speed trains are fantastic! The state run operator RENFE has the original AVE trains and their low cost alternative AVLO. There are 2 other operators: Iryo and Ouigo. You can get single tickets from Madrid to Barcelona for 7 euros! The fastest journey time is 2 and a half hours. As a Brit living in Madrid I really notice the difference between intercity trains in the UK and Spanish high speed.

Spain has the largest high-speed network in Europe. But note that, as with budget airlines, that low €7 price quoted may be limited and restrictive. UK's equivalent to low cost trains is Lumo but the latter is so successful that its prices have risen !

The Train in Spain runs Mainly in the Plain. There is a price to pay for being first. Britain invented rail travel and we had the first rail network in the world. That means that tunnels, bridges, cuttings etc were designed to a specific loading gauge. Not only that, all the other infrastructure in cities and towns was built around the railway. So we are now in a position where a century of under investment leaves us with a network that is hopelessly out of date. In Europe, much of the network was completely destroyed during WW2 and was hence rebuilt in a more modern fashion. Cheers G, this was a brilliant film, I enjoyed it and it looks like you had a great time.

Yes, these trains don't even need to be compatible with anything designed before the nineties. The downside is that a lot of the stations aren't in great places - Zaragoza is no where near the city centre, and some others are literally out in the country.

Most, if not all high speed lines in Spain run more or less parallel to older conventional railways, some of which also are over 100 years old. It’s just underinvestment, nothing else. The UK should be able to build and operate high speed trains just like other European nations are able to.

Coming home and I was in the queue early to get a window seat again. Phew! I got one. Went to the seat and it was a wall not a window. And the annoying part was the seat in front pulled their blind down, and the one behind did the same all the way home. I sulked for 8 hours. LOL You need to get a free app that shows you your speed so you can see in mph how fast you are travelling. 👍

Great video. Those trains look great. But you mention something in your video that is a pet hate of mine. When you reserve a window seat, and then you get on the train only to find that the seat you've reserved doesn't line up with the window very well, and you only get about half(or less than half!) a window view or in some cases no window view atall! A lot of times this happens with me, and in most cases I'm able to find a decent unreserved window seat instead, but this isn't always possible! The train operators website and booking engines need to be more helpful in people being able to reserve decent window seats with a full window view.

4:43 And you wouldn't be too far from the truth, I learned this off of the Ryanair flight that I came back on, in a plane you roughly travel at 200 miles per hour which works out at 320kph so 286kph is not that far off of that, probably looking in or around that 175mph range

If a plane went that speed, it'd take about 4-5 hrs to Barcelona from North West England, they go around 500mph

A Boeing 737 take-off speed is 250 km/hr so you were going faster than a plane! The empty glass was for wine (which is non vegan). Did you get to try a gauge change on a Talgo train?

You guessed right with the hot towels. Uncommon on trains though. More in long haul flights. Luxurious! 😊. Wasn’t you a bit surprised by the amount of graffiti all over Barcelona? I was. Much cleaner back home. As I wrote a couple of videos back I recently was in Barcelona too. First time in a long while. Bet the weather is even. Nicer now 😁.

Dare I say it, that train's interior is very plane-like. Very, very nice, or should I say "muy bueno" out of respect to where you are?! Saw that "Frecciarossa" branding on the side of the train - that is Italian, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that means "Red Arrow" in English.

Europe puts the UK rail system to shame with faster nicer trains, and much cheaper prices! It really is sad how our rail network has gone. Despite living in the south of Spain for the last 17 years i've never actually had a need to get the Fast AVE from Malaga up to Madrid, but I will do it one day! Spain has recently been allowing other TOCs ending the monopoly of Renfe and prices are incredible now.

Notice that Frecciarossa is an italian train , not spanish . Frecciarossa started its international carreer with the connection Milan - Paris - Milan , now they are already in Spain ! Frecciarossa can run in many of the European Countries . It's a sucess ! Frecciarossa deserves it because provides a very good service to their costumers . Nice work , Gloves ! From 🇵🇹 Portugal .

@@user-hq6hb2xv4n Hello ! You may say that because Hitachi bought Bomardier Frecciarossa business in 2021 . Although , Frecciarossa is a Treneitalia train . Frecciarossa was born from a partnership between the canadian Bombardier and Ansaldo Breda ( italian company from Genoa ). The design was by Bertone . No one connects Frecciarossa with Japan . Frecciarossa is an italian train . Rolls Royce uses BMW motors but no one says that Rolls Royce is a German car . It's all very British . That's how things work nowadays . Cheers from 🇵🇹 Portugal .
