These buses are called camel buses or Metrobuses, the trailers are made with two old soviet era bus bodies welded together pulled by a semi truck rig, basically a 18 wheeler adapted for passenger bus duty Camel buses are known for their rough ride quality, noise and constant smell of the exhaust in the bus cabin, these don't have a suspension suitable for comfort in bus duties, no air conditioner systems, these came buses can carry up to 300 people, like if they where in a busy overcrowded japanese subway, all crammed up like sardines in a can Many of these camel buses operated in Havana's routes, many of these were gradually phased out and replaced with chinese made Yutong articulated and standard buses, offering more comfort to the passengers But' there's still a public transportation crisis ongoing in Cuba that might never be solved, so these units are still on the job despite their flaws and blessings these can bring Peace

5:00 Checking the remaining fuel by inserting a stick into the fuel tank reminds me of the Trabant. 😅 I'm curious about how the driver and bus conductor communicate on a trailer bus. (Of course, they can also talk loudly through the window.) Looking at the trailer's windows and roof design, I can tell that it is based on typical Eastern European buses from the 70s-90s. You can tell from the clean condition of the truck and the work done by the mechanic that they care about it very much! Although it's a bit old, Cuban buses are heaven considering there are worse roads and buses in many countries. 👍

@@bencefarkas3651 yes. It appears to have reused parts from the Ikarus 260 or 280. The difference from the original Ikarus is that the windows are installed reversely. The original Ikarus had windows that opened upwards. However, for seated passengers, downward-facing windows are obviously easier to open.

Incase anyone forgets, it is the Ameriguards sanctions and hate for Cuba that left some aspects of Cuba trapped back in time. These articulated buses were common in various parts of the world in the 50s and 60s but have since been replaced by more modern means of transport. Cuba gets by with what they have and use their ingenuity to innovate and improvise to get by.

Castrol is respected here in Africa, he helped many nations during the fight for independence. Ask anyone from South Africa, they will tell you how huge Castrol was.

Camel buses trailers are made with two old soviet era bus bodies welded together pulled by a semi truck rig, basically a 18 wheeler adapted for passenger bus duty. Camel buses are known for their rough ride quality, noise and constant smell of the exhaust in the bus cabin. Many of these camel buses operated in Havana's routes.
