Very cool! This explains why we’re got 5 days of rain next week! The Britt’s are here 😂. If you’re planning a long ride on the Empire State trail outside of NYC, please post a heads up on social media. I’m sure a lot of us followers will tag along 🤟

Get out for a sunrise ride before traffic picks up, particularly on a weekend day. Nothing like being "alone" riding the streets of the city with the sunrise hitting you and the bike. Also, take a ride over GW bridge, North through Fort Lee Park, and up 9W to Boxer Donut & Espresso Bar in Nyack, NJ. Locals took me this way and loved the route and donut/coffee. Looking forward to seeing your adventures. Enjoy the visit!

Great idea… in fact ride all the way up along the West Side Highway, check out the light house, then wind your way up the ramps to the Bridge. My old neighborhood!

Riding across the GW Bridge is a thrill ride all by itself. Cross into NJ and take 9W to Piermont and have coffee next to the river. It’s the most popular out-and-back for cycling groups. If you can include River Road (ask any cyclist) on that ride, you’ll be well rewarded. One last thing: Ride in the city like nobody cares if they hit you. Cause they don’t. 😆

I was a bike messenger in NYC back in the day, when there were no bike lanes. Things have changed. I'm in Hanoi now but my family is still in Brooklyn. If you are near Prospect Park, go to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and the Brooklyn Museum--two of my favorites when I'm visiting NYC. Have a great trip!

Hot laps in Prospect Park are always allowed, but after about 8-9 AM it gets a bit dodgy with the number of people. There definitely is a sweet spot around 1-2 PM during the day it clears out, but most of the 'fast' riders start there between 5:30 - 6:30 AM. The Weis guys sometimes run night laps around 8:30 / 9 PM during the week. Hope you enjoy your stay man and maybe I'll catch you on the road out here! If you want cycling, 9W is the route here everyone does. West side highway, up the GW, around to the left and through the Henry Hudson Drive, that FUN climb to the Ranger Station, and then you can head back on 9W or loop Piermont / Nyack for some more miles.

Great ride to go around Jamaica Bay through the Wildlife Refuge. You can go at a good pace on the cycle only lanes to Shirley Chisholm and Jacob Riis Park as a loop around southern Brooklyn. Enjoy the rides you two (and let us locals know if you're up for a group ride or coffee)!

Nyc has a ton of bike infrastructure but it’s such an unaccommodating place to ride road bikes. Cars park in bike lanes, mopeds/motorcycles will drive in them, people bike in the wrong direction, the list goes on and on. If you end up crossing the George Washington Bridge, do Henry Hudson Drive. It’s right next to where you crossover the bridge and more than half of it is car free. There’s some barriers that stop cars from going on it but just go around those. From there you can link up with 9W and go as far as you want. Have fun in the city, looking forward to the upcoming videos.

Welcome to New York Francis, its a great place to ride, if you want some fun trip around NYC on bike try going up to Van Courtlandt Park and up the Empire State trailway to the new Tappan zee Bridge (Govenor Mario Cuomo bridge) or down to coney Island and far Rockaway and Jamaica Bay. Or maybe across the George Washington Bridge and up route 9w! There are many fun places to ride in the area. (my handle on Strava is "Fennec Ravontulet" if you want to see some examples) I hope you and Daisy have fun.

Shirley Chisholm is a cool one a little further out for some good footage. Can also bike out to flushing to the kissena velodrome, some parts are sketchy but that's true NYC riding for you. Looks like you're in Williamsburg, you should swing by my way across the Pulaski Bridge and check out Gantry Park for nice views, that's where I am. Also if you head towards Greenpoint, try biking over the Kosciuszko Bridge into Sunnyside. Very big bike lane on that Bridge and Sunnyside has some great food spots, like Peruvian, Bolivian and Himalayan food if you're into that.

Welcome to NYC! Happy to have you and Daisy in the States once again. May I suggest an excursion across the Hudson to New Jersey where on Thursday evenings there is a big weekly club ride at Warinanco Park. (Pronounced "War-nay-co" by us locals) (Clearly visible on the Strava activity heat map) You can take NJ Transit from NY Penn Station to Elizabeth and it's a short ride (about a mile) from there to the park. Check NJ Transit when/where bikes are allowed on the train. Or get an Uber from the city (30-40 minutes). Gorgeous park. Friendly people. Have fun, FC. Cheers, Daisy.

OMG I used to do laps in Warnico park back in the 90s! Come south, lots of flats, tiny towns, scant traffic and clean air. Also, Hunterdon, out of Oldwick or Sourlands are to die for. It's hilly there but the vistas are wonderful. Keep your eyes open there's lots of history in these parts. I meet lots of foreigners in Sourlands. They seem to know about it I guess.

Looks like most of the good NYC rides are covered here. A fun one, but with a lot of stops for lights, is ocean parkway from Prospect Park to Coney Island. Eat at one of the Russian places in Brighton Beach. Another longer one is go up the Hudson River greenway in Manhattan, across the GW bridge and back down River Road and port imperial blvd into Hoboken (beers/lunch in Hoboken) and take the Path Train back to Manhattan. You can also continue down through Jersey city into Bayonne and take the Bayonne Bridge into Staten Island and take the Richmond Terrace (stop at Liedy's Shore Inn for a beer break) to the Staten Island Ferry back into Manhattan. Another fun and relatively short one in Brooklyn is from Brooklyn Bridge pier 1 Park down to Red Hook, some good bars and restaurants in Red Hook to try out (mostly along Van Brunt St). These aren't fast routes and have some traffic, but a good way to see the city as well as some spots not on the main tourist track.

Since you’ve previously done the obvious stuff… I always used to like to pick things to do in less frequented neighbourhoods. Means you have somewhere to go but also get a flavour for different parts of the city. - The Cloisters up in Washington Heights - Bronx botanical gardens are amazing - Greenwood Cemetery is really worth a visit - Coney Island/Brighton Beach - Check out what’s going on on Governor’s Island (worth a trip there even if there isn’t) - Check the Summerstage line up. There are free concerts happening all the time across the city, some big names too - The East River ferry is a commuter ferry really but it’s great as you get to go under all the key bridges and get great views of the city Have fun - I miss it.

@@Cade_Media OK JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT ME REMINISCING… here’s some other things to consider. - On the museum front, there’s the Morgan Library and the Cooper Hewitt. PS1 on a Friday might be a good shout as they have DJs on a Friday. - For a fancy drink, check out The Campbell in Grand Central. - For a fancy meal, check out Sakagura. It’s a Japanese restaurant housed in the basement of an office building. Think you’d still have plenty to choose from as a vegan. Not cheap but was probably our favourite restaurant in NY. - I think of Queens as kind of third visit material. We used to live there and I love it, but it isn’t as immediately accessible as Brooklyn (read: less hip). That being said you could ride your bikes over the QB bridge and then basically follow the 7 train elevated tracks, which would take you through all the major Queens neighbourhoods, ending in Flushing where you could get some of the best noodles you’ll ever eat. It would take you passed the Mets stadium and Flushing Meadows where the US Open takes place.

Last time in new york we rented some really bad braking bikes (rim brakes were gone) but still it was amazing. And because of out biking experience in Amsterdam it was just fine. Have a good look ahead and anticipate of traffic (lights). Wanted to rent the bikes for 1 day but ended up biking 3 days as a main way of transport during the day. Looking forward to biking in the post corona time. It looks like a lot more bike infrastructure!

In Manhattan you can't go wrong with John's Pizza on Bleecker St. Ange Noir Cafe in Williamsburg is a great spot, and close to Roberta's (another great pizza joint) and House of Yes. Breweries include: Finback Brewery in Queens, Interboro Spirits & Ales and Kings County Brewers Collective in Brooklyn. Recommend the Manhattan Loop...round the island, start on the Hudson side via the Hudson River Greenway, maybe near W79th at the yacht club, head south to Staten Island ferry terminal, then N along the East River with a detour across the Brooklyn Bridge for a crazy bridge crossing double back then carry on up N along East River as far as you can, which is at about E 111st where there's a pedestrian bridge to get you into town, squiggle N on 1st then thru Haarlem to St Nicholas, carry on N until you get to the Harlem River, left along the river then across on Dyckman to Riverside Drive which will take you back on to the Hudson River Greenway and S back to the start....about 65km's in all including the BB excursion!!! A great tour of the Island! Oh and for Manhattan sunsets, you cannot go wrong with the rooftop bar of the 1 Hotel (Brooklyn side) next to the Brooklyn Bridge....spectacular!!!!... and for something very different, the PDT (Please Don’t Tell)...you'll have to Google that one and be patient trying to get in..... then pick up a show...Sleep No More....be ready to participate..... After the show, eat out in a garden....Gallow Green, same location as the play!!!! Stroll the Highline...early to avoid the crowds... Don't miss Central Park strolls.... And Grand Central but there's more the GC than meets the eye.... Try get a game of tennis at the hidden court there and look for the hidden bar inside Grand Central Station....The Campbell.....a real time warp back to the industrial age. ENJOY NYC, you will leave sad and vow to return!

There's much better riding across the Hudson River by crossing the George Washington Bridge up north. Do not recommend riding fast past 8 AM in Prospect Park. The risk of fall is higher from the pedestrians entering the park, especially on the weekend. Personally, my partner suffered a severe traumatic brain injury from a clueless pedestrian crossing the bike lane suddenly when she was on the downhill on the west side of the park. Miraculously, she's recovering well (Her Recovery Journey - kzread.info/dash/bejne/no2sz5tved2wmrQ.html&ab_channel=KatherineDeng). Safety for riding a bike in the NYC streets is progressing but there's still so much work needed on building the proper and safe infrastructure for riding for everyone.

Take Flatbush ave Brooklyn out to the beach Atlantic Ocean and then go left, head back through Queens over Crossbay blvd , Woodhaven blvd to Queens Blvd to Queensboro bridge into Manhattan. A big loop! Go very early in the morning, sat/sun to avoid traffic and stop lights. Beware of the after hours people leaving clubs at 6am especially Brooklyn Flatbush ave. When on Cross Bay Blvd in Howard Beach stop at New Park Pizza. I've been going to that Pizza place since the 60's.

Yes, only short sections of bad tarmac. It's paved all the way. There are a lot of beautiful riding in Westchester. Metro North welcomes bikes if you buy the pass. A lot of great suggestions here already. Climbing Bear Mountain would be another nice ride.

@@Cade_Media Definitely rideable on road bikes. It was just recently refurbished, and my old boss at the messenger company said it was so smooth that you could perform a Briss at 20 mph no handed on it.

I suggest you go over the GW bridge into New Jersey and do some riding there. River Road along the Hudson is very nice. Go over the bridge and make a left on the sidewalk against traffic and go down the hill into the park which starts river road. At the end after the police station bear left and you can make a left onto 9W which get you back towards the bridge.

Ranger station on river road. Take Williamsburg bridge then go west to westside highway ride north forever..cross a bridge and you're golden. Nyack is cool if you take the train up first then start the ride from the bridge.

What to do in NY… now, I do recall Electric Lady Studios used to do tours, so I’d do that if I ever make it back over there. I guess you may like Hendrix, as I heard your guitar before and the tone was leaning in his direction 🤘

Wow, Daisy in a dress-who knew! Enjoy your trip guys and we can enjoy the video’s. It’s 25 years since I was last in NY so the only-very touristy-suggestion I have for you is a helicopter ride out to Staten Island and Liberty.

Try to make it to Central Park as well! Very pretty. And agree going over the GW Bridge to 9W is worth it too. If you're staying in Brooklyn, try to go to Oxomoco for some great Mexican (Michelin star!). Enjoy your time here!

In both Prospect Park and Central Park too many pedestrians during the day, but watch out CP gives cyclists tickets for going through lights later in the day. Also look up Roy's bike shop the best in Brooklyn
