RIDGID R86346B 18V Sub Compact Barrel Grip Jig Saw Review

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The new RIDGID R86346 Sub Compact Barrel Grip Jig Saw delivers a 1-inch stroke at up to 3,200 SPM. This cordless jig saw has a 6-speed dial with the addition of Auto mode as well. The Auto setting starts at a lower SPM, then ramps up as it senses the saw is under load. During our testing, we agreed that the RIDGID jig saw is perfect for general-purpose carpentry and woodworking. However, if you're looking for thicker hardwoods, bevel cuts, and decent dust extraction, then you may want to look to a more expensive jig saw such as the Festool. You can get these at the Home Depot for $179 for the bare tool. #review #tools #homedepot #jigsaw

Solid looking tool from RIDGID. I am glad to see them adding several new tools this year.

Great review, now waiting for Milwaukee to release their new M12 Fuel barrel grip jigsaw to compare with this one before I make my decision! Thanks again Tim!

Any chance you might be doing a review of the new Milwaukee jigsaw 2545?

Good review on this tool Tim, throw a 21700 battery on there…best ones a 3ah octane, easily Ridgids best battery they’ve released, sans the 8.0 or maybe 12….I genuinely and generally love your videos with one exception. Tthat is the mhpt wr36de mid torque video, it was a disaster imo and just not representative of how the tools compare to the rest at all, and essentially by default insinuated the m18 mid torque is able to break free tighter bolts than the 36de when as small and great as the m18 may be claiming more torque than the chunkier mhpt is just not the case….the wr36de has a decent bit more power, now it’s not dcf891 or flex levels of power but noticeably so…not trying to be a dick, I appreciate what u do but just something to keep in mind when you test the new impact wrenches Metabo hpt /hikoki released recently..Id like to see you use the 4AH battery and how does it compare to the results with a 2.5ah…I’d love to see you give the new high torques 1/2” wr36dg and 3/4” WR36DF rated at 1500 & 2000 ft /lb as well as the wr36dh compact a fair shake….you’d also be the first I’ve seen to test em on yt…torque test channel hasn’t even tested it yet but their available on Amazon now

How does this compare to DeWalt's DCS335B barrel grip jigsaw that's several years old? Both are about the same price right now if you find that on clearance. Does the DeWalt quality give that an edge, or does this have newer technology and innovations making it the better buy?

I love ridgid but the on off switch is annoying to get used too. Even my under cut has the same stupid toggle.

Does the barrel grip give you more control/precision? Would you buy the traditional if you had to do it over again?

@@Darkcruzer23I don't know about accuracy. But it feels more comfortable in the hand. I prefer my d handle just because plunge cuts are easier and where you distribute the pressure. I also love having a trigger instead of a switch. Check out the corded bauer jigsaw. It's 50. I've used it for almost a year. Pretty good deal. The hercules blades are good unless you can get the diablos

What if, now hear me out, what if someone came up with a hand held bandsaw similar to a jigsaw in that the blade rotates on small wheels instead of a fixed blade?? Hmm……

Maybe they could call it a portaband or something

Ridgid needs to get out of the past. They keep releasing old tools with small upgrades, that nobody's been asking for. I love my Ridgid stuff, but they keep adding drills, jigsaws, and angle grinders. This year's new tool? A 6 3/4 saw. Wow. Same old, same old every year.

Especially when you consider all the rest of the brands in the house have things like that. Maybe excluding Hart.

Isn't the right angle impact new? The extended ratchets are new and in thankful for both so I didn't have to get a different brand

    1. They already have them 2. You wouldn't be able to cut more than a couple inches from the edge of a board
