Well done on a comprehensive review. Based on your presentation I purchased the Aviator and am very happy with it. I like to carry my Aviator with the coin tray removed. With the 5 cards that I carry and the elastic adjusted to the tightest setting, this makes for a very slim arrangement. I can still insert the tray, if I want, at the tightest elastic setting - I just haven't found a need so far.

Thanks. Glad it was helpful! I tried your setup, but prefer with the coin tray where it belongs, as it has the channel profiled in its reverse that locates that pull tab, so that the pull tab is always centered.

I have both. Love the Ridge wallet, but the Aviator Slide is the one I now use day to day now. It's just about perfect. I keep gift cards in my Ridge wallet now and take it with me if I need it. Love the small footprint of both.

I just tried with a one dollar bill. If you fold twice it fits, and could probably squash a couple more in. It's easier to push folded cash in between the cards however, you can get at it easier, or you can use the dedicated cash strap on the reverse of the wallet.

So how do you like the AV.

Looking at both I will purchase the Aviator for my husband. Basically, it fits his needs better with the amount of cards he carries.

A lot of people use the cavity trays on the minimal wallets to carry few bank notes because they don't like having them on the outside so that they can then use the cash strap to hold a few buisness cards instead

currently shopping for a minimalist wallet, upgrading from what I would call a 'starter' minimalist to a true one..I think this type of wallet is why only 1 of my cards are embossed. I've had several cards now from banking to credit cards, the last embossed card I got was from 2016ish? I was even going to call to see if they can issue a non embossed one. If not Im just gonna use it for auto-pay and not carry it with me. this video was very detailed and talked about things I personally had questions about. Thank you for this.

I have both and the Aviator slide is definitely the better wallet

Just got my aviator with aluminium coin tray, it is in every way possible the best choice, holds coins/cash and up to 20 cards.

Not only is the aviator wallet easier to use, holds more cards, looks better and has a better quality finish but it's also cheaper. This is proof of how marketing is a BIG selling point for the ridge.

Do pound coins fit in the Aviator coin tray or are they too thick?

All I have at home is £2 coin to try. 2.5mm thick. It fits snug, so no rattle. New £1 coins are 2.8mm which is close. So probably. If not, then it will if you take the anti rattle felt out. I'll update when get one to try. You can also spec the Aviator with an aluminium coin tray of double depth.

Very good review, I bought an Aviator and I live in the USA. I believe it's shipped from the maker in Germany? Anyways I wanted to ask I didn't order a money clip on the Aviator, does it still hold cash ok? Thx for feedback if any!

Yes, it will still have the cash strap. I prefer to use mine with the clip removed, as I find it's easier to lift to get the bills under the strap.

I'm trying to decide to buy either of the wallets.I'm not a fan of having exposed cash on top of either wallets(Cough, Cough.. OCD 😂) Can I place or squeeze my little cash in the coin tray of the aviator wallet instead?

If you fold the bill you could. You can also push a folded bill in between the cards, which is what I like to do.

The coin holder is needed, as it's an integral part of the structure. Instead, you can save money and buy the Aviator Classic, not the Aviator Slide version. Hope this helps.

Aviator wins on all sectors, it completely destroyed Ridge Wallet on all relevant fields.

Does paper currency fit in the coin tray with ease? I have yet to find a video or anyone able to confirm if paper money can easily fit inside the coin tray and not be damaged when pulling it out. and if it does about how many bills can be folded in and fit without over loading it?

Yes you can put cash in the coin tray 07:20 but it's not designed for that. Maybe one or two folded bills.They're safe from getting damaged when push/pushing the tray. Of course, there's the dedicated cash strap on the back of the wallet, and I like to push a folded bill in with the cards too, as it's a handy way to eject it quickly.

Not a fan of the tray

The aviator looks a lot better for those of us that still use those funny metal discs they call "coins", whereas the ridge wallet seems to exist in a world where those don't exist.

Those discs along with their green paper counterparts will be extinct in the next 10-20 years. Seems like the ridge is living in the future.

@@dl-q3387 Credit cards are almost non existent too. Last 2 years I've only used cash in 2 places(Car wash and tips for people only accepting cash). I only use credit cards in restaurant/bars where you have to hand over a card. Everywhere else I'm using my phone or watch. Wallet of card/cash should just be for emergency at this point

RFID is not standard on the Aviator Slide shown in the video. But you can configure it with the aluminium inner space frame as an optional extra, to enable RFID protection.

aviator is much more better than ridge. it doesn’t look as interesting as ridge, but it’s much more comfortable and functional
