Happened to me once, lace on my Kodiak work boot. Fortunately, I was strong enough to break the lace. After that happened, I taped them with duck tape. Yeah I looked like a dork, but it worked.

@@EdTrollington I always double knotted, but I think the loop in the bow got caught on the shifter. Now that I"m not dirt poor, I got some Alpine Str SMX 6 V2 boots with Velcro. Problem solved.
