For real, the way he navigates and hunts was presented in a near realistic way. He tests his environment, understands the strengths of the terrain, and the creatures that inhabit it. His injuries show that he's human, but his mental and physical abilities/strengths prove he's a true alpha of the species.

The first part of the movie with Riddick living alone with his alien dog was actually sweet and entertaining,,but it deteriorates fast when the bounty hunters arrive on the scene. Vin Diesel can actually carry a whole movie on his own. Hope he gets more chances to do this someday.

What made this movie incredibly great was back to basics personal view. No huge production like Chronicles or that crazy Fast n Furious stuff. The movie was up close and personal without huge props. Great Movie.

Am I the only one that really loves these Riddick movies? Maybe it's a guilty pleasure, but they are so darn good... and entertaining. Very few actors "commit" to a character as much as Diesel.

"Don't know how many times I've been crossed off the list and left for dead. Guess when it first happens the day you were born, your gonna lose count. So this, this ain't nothing new."👏👏👏💪💪💪💪💪💪💪. Vin got the perfect voice I swear

This is one of the most intense openings to a film I've ever seen. So much that when the bounty hunters come for him, you understand why they are no match for him.

This movie is awesome, I don't understand why it didn't get better reviews or make money in the cinema. it's like no amount of careful creativity will satisfy people. the bar has been raised so high that no one knows how high it is or when it's met.

People just complained we didn't go into the UnderVerse or see Furya instead of appreciating the fact that we were able to get any new Riddick adventure AT ALL. It wasn't likely to happen again after Chronicles (I liked the movie but it didn't make enough money for the studio) and they struggled for years to get budget approval for Riddick 2013, and it was only approved a smaller budget than Chronicles, so they couldn't do the epic space adventure shit again necessarily and do it justice... So I think they made the right call just doing another "Pitch Black" type of movie, with sprinklings of the Necro and Furyan lore thrown in there to still develop the overarching story as well a bit. Some people though apparently would have rather had nothing... and I think that's a shame, and a bit silly, if you ask me. I still fairly enjoyed Riddick 2013, being happy that we even got any new Riddick at all considering I thought one of my favorite franchises was sadly dead for years. I hope it comes back again too, eventually, even if it has to be smaller budget again, or done in a different medium (the games were good too, but I'd even take Riddick comics if they offered.)

Reviving John's storyline from the first movie, with his father in this movie, was an absolutely brilliant move to keep viewers hooked. I've watched all 3 movies many times, but I think the 3rd one was way more incredible and exciting than the first two movies, with characters that kept you hooked throughout the film.

Man I need a new Riddick movie before Vin Diesel gets too old to play him. He's the one true Riddick.

Always will be my favorite Vin Diesel character. Shame he didn't make more movies in the series.

I love this movie. The other two were great films but I think this has to be my favourite of the trilogy.I love how he survives all these dangers through sheer will because hes used to surviving and uses good intelligence and by the end of it sort of gains a right of passage to live on the planet and uses the dangers it poses against his enemies that come totally unprepared and have no knowledge or same level of stubbornness to survive.Great film.

I want more of Riddick. Can't wait for another ten years of under development.

One of the best first 10 minutes of a movie.

This franchise was great and really only place I could watch Vin without losing viewer submersion.. He played the furion part and role great.

The first 10 minutes is my favorite. A closer look at this insteresting foreign planet and the hostile life that inhabits it. Really great atmosphere too.

definitely the best character thought of..the anti hero who always plans ahead and knows how to use a blade

Pitch Black and Chronicles were class imo. This one shouldn't have happened at all....same as pitch black. Stranded on an alien world with monsters trying to survive. They should've jump straight to Furya. Hopefully we wont have to wait till Diesel is close to his 60s to get it done. Vin confirmed in May this year that they are working on the script already so fingers crossed.

I watched this movie. It is a keeper. There is real potential with this series. It isn't "dark" in the sense that there is hope in these films. It could be said of Riddick...He isn't safe, but he is good.

I see some differences from Pitch Black, in that he is out on his own now, and rather than being hunted by nocturnal beasts while racing to a shuttle, he is actually surviving, all while being hunted by mercs who have come to claim him or speak with him. The ending also provides a different story. Two more movies are supposed to be made, and I hope that they do, and I am confident that the new stories will be more superb, one is to be in the Underverse and the other on Furya.

The idea of having that particular feature for eye shine is really interesting.

He tamed a wild beast and injected venom every day so he could withstand a bite by one of those things. This movie was surprisingly badass lol

Said it before and will say it again David Twohy is an incredible visual director.

Never realized how lucky he was that the alien things weren't in the water both of those times.

God I love this Chronicles of Riddick universe

2:33 he sounds like a dying crow 💀😭

Only problem i have with this is the dog following the frisby when a real wild animal goes for the food first then the toys. They dont see things as a game like pets do. We bred the possibility of eating us out of dogs's biology and train them so they see things we throw as interesting. A wolf if it were to set its eyes upon you as food and had you cornered and injured wouldnt chase a frisby it would possibly flinch but then it would attack and not relent till it was defeated or fed.

Not trying to justify this scene but Riddick has a thing with animals, hence in Chronicles of Riddick he manages to hypnotize or tame a wild animal (those jaguar looking things with spikes as fur). So maybe the animal saw him as another animal and when he threw that piece of armor the dog just thought he threw away something worth ingesting like food. Again, it might be a reach but still worth noting

Pitch Black was a game changer

I started crying in the theater at this part, I was vaguely aware of adults shaking their heads at me with a sad smile, I knew I was causing a bit of a distraction, but I was 5 so I don't carry much guilt over it

Loved the survival act of this film. The rest of it with the bounty hunters was nowhere near as enticing. Vin Diesel makes a great Riddick.

This movie is a step up and above mediocre action films when it comes to at least 5 things: 1: It's concept(space cast-away action film, only other one i can think of is Pitch Black. It's okay to rip a little off if it belongs to you anyways) 2. Wit(Gears saying no, bitch/ Riddick hilariously comparing Vaako to a baseball player) 3. It worked up excitement through random jump scares and testosterone. Methodically that is. You might also say: Properly 4. It further explores Riddick's character and his motives towards helping others and being an egocentric survivalist. Protip: If you don't like that character you're watching the wrong movie mate, film's called Riddick after all. 5. The dog wasn't actually that bad on a second viewing.

I actually like how Vin took it back to the Pitch Black style horror/monster setting. It moreso expanded on the Universe of Riddick. First was Biorapter monster planet M6-117, then big fancy planets like Helion Prime (theres also Two through Five), prison planets like Crematoria, Butcher Bay, and now another monster planet dubbed Not-Furya. The best thing they can do now is keep making it bigger. More creativity. More extravagant. Maybe tie in all the other planets mentioned throughout the series or where certain monsters and creatures in the series come from.

I want more of the missing Kira years.

When people say they have a bad day,then show them this video. This is what a bad day looks like. A Riddick day.

Many actors want to speak or just interact with other actors to shine ,this is not the case. Great acting for real
