Even well past his prime, Sheik took a young Steamboat and turned this event and the crowd completely on its head. How the crowd parts like the red sea when Sheik merely walks amongst the people is crazy.

Ricky Steamboat was a former NWA U.S. World Heavyweight Champion, and NWA World Tag-Team Champions with Paul Jones, Jay Youngblood and Dustin Rhodes. He was already a Wrestling veteran when this match took place.

I hated the shiek when I was a kid 😁 What an absolute legendary performer.

Yes, definitely a mismatch of styles. But I think the Sheik must have respected the hell out of young Steamboat; I can't recall a single time the Sheik gave anyone that much offense during a match.

Greatest wrestling heel of all time IMO

You would never see a match of this calibre in North America.

If you wrestled the Original Sheik, you were pretty much guaranteed to bleed along with him during the match. His opponents never had a choice in the matter.

I concur - I think he possibly hit an artery. And that goes to show how much of a professional The Sheik truly was . He really put Steamboat over in this match. This proved to be a good move . Rick showed that he could wrestle in any types of matches and the future proved that the he was going to be a superstar .
