Today’s guitar villain is Rick Graham. Rick is easily one of the most humble guitar players on the planet, and you know what that means when the word humble is used to describe a guitarist: that’s right, they’re an absolute monster player. Rick can play things most people would think is impossible to do on a guitar, and yet his musicality is what stands out most-he’s a true maestro and an even better person, and throughout this episode you’ll understand time and again why Rick is one of the most respected guitarists on the planet, on today’s episode of Guitar Villains.

I have a question as. So i'm 10 years old, and i want to play the acoustic guitar. I was wonder if the fender CD-60 V3 dreadnought guitar would be a good guitar for me.
Rick Graham's playing is simply on levels that are just beyond comprehension. Always have been a big fan! Awesome!

@@perpetualbystander4516 Dude, I'd never actually put it down. Sometimes I get frustrated. Especially since I'm in my 40s, and I've been playing since the early 90s. That's normal. And after I'm done being frustrated, I pick it up and get back to shredding.
@joelcprice

@@perpetualbystander4516 Also, I've got countless hours on the instrument, and four years of college studying the guitar. Its not always hours. Some people are able to play more efficiently simply because of genetics. That's okay. I chase my strengths rather than try to be the people who inspire me.

It’s so good to see Rick getting the love he deserves
Amazing episode once again! Getting Guthrie Govan on this podcast would please me greatly and I think many others feel the same way.
Rick Graham's classical chops are the real deal. Most of the times when shredders play the classical guitar, the sound is not here at all, but this guy plays perfectly with the nails plus the interpretation is really researched . What a beast....

I'm pretty sure he went to school for classical guitar.
Get Andy Timmons also. I'm sure if he's got the time he'll do it. I wrote him a snail mail letter and the guy actually took the time to write back. True class.

Love Rick, been watching him for years and still enjoy listening to him talk and his humble wisdom. Killer player and person!
Thanks Tyler guitar villains is the coolest guitar chat show out there. Love the segments, ridiculously clever silly questions. Not only shit hot guitar player you really are a top shelf interviewer. Rick is great guy, great player and great sense of humour you guys connect like you’ve been great mates for years. I really enjoyed every second of this, it was a lot of fun.
Finally someone else besides Rick Beato shouting out Big Wreck! Ian Thornley is an absolute badass in every respect, whether it's his absolutely MAD guitar playing, his raucous voice, or his fantastic songwriting. It's amazing to see somebody as killer as Rick Graham acknowledge how amazing that group is!
Dude I’m so proud to be a Rick Graham supporter💜 “Fan” implies no love, but I’d do anything for this sweetheart, he could be such an egotist and is just…so bright and loving and supportive 🙌 Absolute LEGEND
Great to see Rick here. He is simply out of this world!!
Rick is truly one of the guitar GOATs; insane technique and great sense of melody and harmony
Well done Tyler! Rick is truly a Master Guitar Villain. Thanks!
Rick is a true phenomenon and all hes videos have this super positive friendly hot coffee vibe. Just bought 3 of his courses and they re simply amazing
There are beginners, intermediate, professional, world class, elite and then the Master Mr Rick Graham🤘👍. Fantastic interview with in my opinion the greatest guitarist on the planet
Jeff Loomis next please!
Think Phil X would be great on this series. Always seems like a fun guy in interviews.

Never heard of this podcast till today, but I loved watching it! 😀
Like this topic so much!Realy interesting to know the opinion and personal human qualities by the way!Great man!Great guitar player!Great person!
Currently my new favorite music podcast!
You can tell he genuinly loves music in how much thought he puts into his answers
Rick is the best! Loved hearing from him! 🤍
I'm so glad I learned classical technique as a kid in high school. It's damn near a cheat code.
That dude can shred and he is shredded
I'm surprised that you don't know Big Wreck and Ian Thornley. He's one of the best guitaris/singers in the world along with Richie Kotzen. Both of them absolutely insane. And both sound kinda similar to Chris Cornell vocally. Especially Ian Thornley from Big Wreck.

What a legend. Great episode
Fantastic, really enjoyed that

I love his work with Ployphia! Can't wait for more episodes Tyler 😊

Rick is a legend.
You kick ass Tyler. Rick, you are the ultimate guitar!
What a wonderful interview! Also, Big Wreck! :O
Rick is a incredible musician and one cool Dude!
This is my favorite series
The good ole Car Marin Plexitone... Love that one also.
Rick is a damn good player. Check out his cover of Satriani’s “Time”. Some of the cleanest playing and dopest tones.
Sounds like you already have your season finale picked out, but I've been loving this series and the originality of the interviews. Seeing Rick on definitely made me want to see Andy James. And Chris Storey might be pretty cool too!
Nice video! Rick is so amazing!!
one of the best episodes
Wile. E never gets enough credit for his awesome painting of tunnels! Genius.
hey tyler loved every bit of the podcast .... man it will be really cool if you could get mateus asato someday
That guy is insaaaaanneee! true inspiration for me.
Rick is a increíble teacher.
I was in a masterclass with Rick the week before he was scheduled to record the EJ dvd - some of us went for a curry with him after and he brought up needing to record it - he was stressed to death over it which is odd seeing just a monster of a player have normal player anxieties. But everyones personal accounts on what a top friggen lad he is are all accurate
Excellent interview Tyler...Rick seems such a real nice guy with such Alien like guitar Skillz!! Ive always thought to myself, if i could swap guitar skills with anyone it would prob be Rick.....ps....thats a great question to ask future Guitar Villains.... Brill stuff 😎🤘
Rick is such a great talent and I hope he is looking after himself as he doesn't look in good health here. A great, great guitar player!

I love this series
I have seen Big Wreck live! They are awesome. Had tickets to see them again but the show got cancelled due to covid.
Thank you What a great show
Good interview Tyler.. It's a bit strange to imagine Rick identifying with the misadventures and failures of Wile E. Coyote when Rick has been one of the most successful guitarists at untangling its idiosyncrasies and understanding its mysteries. I think that speaks to how hard he has worked to achieve his the impressive accomplishments. We get to see the successes, but rarely do we see or even hear about the failures. Thanks
I checked out Big Wreck and they are fantastic! New music recommendations should probably be a new segment for season 2.
Sorry Tyler I love Rick Graham but he is the worst villiain possible. He looks like the nicest guy!

I always get confused between Rick Graham and Guthrie Govan about who is my all time favourite! Both of them should share stage some day. 🙈
Big ups on Big Wreck. Ian Thronley is a monster player.

I can vouch for Big Wreck and Ian Thornley. Fantastic guitarist.
Rick is an inspirational person as much as a musician and composer. He's an awesome man. I've got a question for anyone out there. I played my 76 Les Paul professionally for over 25 years until it caused a spinal cord injury that caused the loss of feeling in my pinky and half my ring finger (well I couldn't walk but I didn't care as much about that).I couldn't fret a note for a couple years so I had to start over from scratch and although I'm able to perform again I've kind of hit a wall. Anyone know anything that might help? 🙏 Thanks. This is the perfect podcast for us all.
This brother is fiercely frightening fretboard lightning.
I would like to see Jason on here. He is the true master of all music.
Love Gram. Interview Andy James next please
Yes!!! Rick f’n Graham!!
I thought Rick was going to say "I identify with the Shredder character " : ) Thx for interviewing him.
Music is win I am a huge fan!!
Finale already ???😨😨 i need mooore
Nice
When are you gonna get the dooo on here?
Bro Tyler lives in Tennessee too? hell yeah
You should get Ruben Wan on soon. I’m sure he would have an interesting story to tell. Chinese and Born in Panama. Plays that funny fender offset pawn shop pink thing.
Yo, can you do a video on Colter Wall? His guitar play is absurd and I think you are the man to figure it out.
🙌
Tyler, how have you slept on Big Wreck?! Duuuuuude, one of the sickest rock bands, sickest vocalists, and sickest guitar players of the last 20+ years.
i dont know if tyler will ever see this but i literally just got an ad on youtube that just used the exact same intro music (minus the guitar solo)
I turn people on to Rick Graham all the time...
FUCK YEAH
Aaron Marshall or Plini would be great guests to have on here!
Rick Graham is the greatest guitar player in history
Fuck yeah baby!!!
Nice job !!!! Plz try and get Kirk Hammett, if you could pull of petrucci and satriani, than kirk should not be a problem ;) :P
Quickest 50 minutes of my life
You should get Angel Vivaldi on the show. I think it would be a hilarious interview knowing him 😂
