Presently I wear a Swiss lace system- it’s what I started with several years ago and it’s what I’m used to- always looks great and I get compliments all the time about my beautiful hair (😘👍🏽😉) but I’m thinking about trying a system with a poly front hairline and surrounding border with open lace in between. My scalp needs the openness of the lace due to some psoriasis, which I keep in healthy condition with topical liquid medication… so I need the lace over most of my scalp, but the poly borders, ESPECIALLY the front, interests me. Thoughts?

Rob, I did Swiss lace right at first. Taped the back, glued the front. I like the lace but cleanup for me was harder and took more time. I clean up the poly in no time at all. I don’t feel it on my head at all. I have a video on SUPER HAIRPIECES WHERE I TALK ABOUT IT. The way your wanting to go sounds great. Do you tape or glue?

@GacktSama1992 that is high. I spend about $300 for a system and pay $100 for install and cut in. Then do maintenance and re-appy myself until my next unit. I get 4-6 months out of a unit depending on several factors.

@GacktSama1992 I order mine online and take it to the stylist who specializes in hair systems/wigs. I purchase my system from Lavivid or TopLace. Lavivid does a 20% discount for your first order. If you've never had a hair system before I strongly recommend a lace unit with poly perimeter around the sides and back for your first one. There's a steep learning curve on maintenance and you can essentially expect to get it wrong with your first one but a lace unit will at least give you more mileage until you get it right. Then, if you want you could change to a thin skin unit.

Is this a lace front or is it all poly? If all poly, did you specify the front graduation of density in percentages? Or should I say it differently, is there an option to do so in the ordering process? I ordered from a popular competitor (don't want to mention it here but I will disclose in private) and I specified the front to gradually recess over a specified area and length, I think around 2.5 inches from the front. They did not do anything. I was pretty disappointed. It is anything but "natural"...Also, I'm around your age and even though I specified grey percentages 40% sides, 60% top, etc. they sent me a system that was, and is, age inappropriate with about 2% grey overall...Total waste of money! Personally, I think it was a "stock" system they sent me and not the custom system I expected.

Some people can tell right away as the lace is visible, swimming, riding a motorcycle…lol…ok…when you’re in the sun …etc. Having to steer people’s hands away from your hair…haha….surely the tape and solvents used are not good for you. My advice…take it off and be the person you’re meant to be, you’ll save alot of money and embarrassment. 😊
