RICK AND MORTY 3X09 "THE ABCS OF BETH" REACTION

MY PATREON (EXTENDED REACTION PART, FIVE EPISODES OF ADVANCE, NO ADDS) : / laurareactions
Hello !
An entire episode with Rick and Beth living an "adventure", in which they talk about her childhood and their relationship ? Guys, you had to know that I would love this episode. We learn during it that Rick created that sweet world for his daughter BUT it was also to have time on his own, he made all of these things for her BUT he didn't understand she just wanted to spend time with him… And, ok she surely blocked Tommy on this land but Rick, as an adult, let him here. Clearly, miscommunication and misunderstanding have been issues in their relationships since the beginning.
Beth learnt things during this episode, about herself. Yes, she acts like her father, not admitting her faults, she can be as cruel and violent, and she confesses it to Rick at the end, she's tired of lying to herself about who she is. Watching that end, I was like "okay, she decided to stay, she loves them too much", but during the editing, I began to have doubts. Just know I'll begin season 4 with that doubt.
I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

Probably my favorite episode of Rick & Morty. Some great jokes, clever word play, and I really enjoyed getting to learn more about Beth; I like how she's shown to be such a very different person than Rick but at the same time *very much* his daughter.

Very funny: "Cross your sociopath" "I'm sorry, did apologies *change*?" And also really interesting: "Oh my god, I'm my father" And I really liked Rick's speech to Beth, both his response "I don't know, maybe you matter so little I like you; maybe I love you". I like how he kind of straddles a line there, being his nihilistic self while also allowing that he loves her. Because nihilism - nothing matters - shouldn't only be "if nothing matters then why do anything?", it should also be "if nothing matters, then why not do something, why not care about people?" Also, her not being sure she wants to leave and his response, something to the effect of "okay, then stay and be content in the knowledge that you *made that choice*" is a really good response, again in line with his nihilism: if nothing matters, that doesn't mean you should be indecisive; be decisive and embrace your choices; right or wrong, they are *yours*.
