    why too many dislikes? I love this acoustic version. He plays the song almost exactly as in 1993, and he is able to sing it too! So, this is amazing, he is a great musician

    Bret Michaels did actually a brilliant move on Ritchie's audition, he tests his songwriting skills rather than on the guitar skills it self, sometimes a band needs teamwork on making a good material rather than showing off mostly skills.

    Whilst Richie’s talent is undeniable, CC should never have been fired from a band that he helped make super successful and was in fact the main songwriter for, and Blues Saraceno, when given the opportunity, was far more respectful of Poison’s sound and fan base. Bret’s generosity towards Richie’s creative input inevitably led to a record that didn’t sound like Poison and didn’t connect with most of their fans and bombed in comparison to their previous releases (even though a Poison bomb = Gold in the US and 1/2 million copies sold). Richie was obviously very young at the time so his narcissism and arrogance can be forgiven in retrospect, but honestly, who goes to an audition for a multi-platinum selling band but doesn’t show the respect of even learning the material (which even he insinuated was so basic)? And not just any band, a band that don’t need you per se, and are going to make you more famous than you previously could have dreamed of and pay you better than you’ve ever been paid before? All the Poison haters can do one. Richie knows that he was afforded a golden opportunity that millions of others would have died for, and at the time he acted as if he was entitled to it rather than being grateful for it. I’m glad he’s become more humble, wise and grateful as the years have passed - as most of us do. I was around him on a number of occasions during my association with Poison and he was a nice guy and I recall Bret seemed to almost look after him like a little brother. Wishing Richie well but some of the RK brown-nosing fanboys need to get a grip.

    this is a well thought out and mature comment. Being a musician myself I've seen how egos get too big and bridges are burnt and talented msucians leave themselves without an audience. People have to recognize the work Poison had done to get to where they were by the time RK auditioned for them. He rode Poison's coattails not the other way around

    that's right, ritchie was so young and inmature back then bret had a lot of patience to ritchie due to his natural talent for almost everything (you can see him in every concert and interview giving to ritchie almost all the credits for), but he couldn't withstand more

    I believe he also married that girl and had his daughter with her. Anyway, he was the best thing to ever happen to Poison, the best album they ever had, brought a little legitimacy to them (C.C. Deville ???), but it probably embarrassed the fuck out of Bret Michaels with his songwritng, AND blew Bret away with his singing! They must still be saying "why the fuck did we fire Kotzen?"

    willie donovan Give us a break,this whole story was just an excuse for Brett Michaels and the rest of the hacks from Poison,to fire him.They never liked him,because they knew,he has more talent in his pinky then the whole band combined.Their management was the one who hired him,back in the day,because they knew a band needs at least one member with some actual talent.99% of the material in ''Native Tongue'' was written by him and it's by far the best Poison album. Getting fired by these douches,was the best thing that happenend to Kotzen,afterwards he recorded albums with Greg Howe & Stanley Clarke,not to mention his highly acclaimed solo-stuff or recently the Winery Dogs.Meanwhile Brett Michaels is making a tv-show about home decoration.

    +greekfreak1980 Yeah, they fired him "because they knew, he has more talent" and THEN hired a probably even better guitarist - Blues Saraceno. Makes sense... And how could the management be responsible for hiring Richie Kotzen, if even he says how it looked like (in this video) :D

    Majestic12 Blues Saraceno a ''better guitarist'' then Kotzen?!In which universe?The guy is a competent bluesrock guitarist,Richie Kotzen can play literally any music style,from neoclassical shred ala Malmsteen to flamenco/latin guitar.Just listen to the albums he did with Greg Howe,to see where Guthrie Govan get the majority of his licks.Plus,he can write songs and sings better then that bandana hack and plays drums and keyboards and bass.Hell,the guy actually records his studio albums entirely by himself,like the late Prince did.

  • @CaptainFantastik1

    @CaptainFantastik1

    LOL. Blues Saraceno?! Haven't even heard that dude's name since probably an issue of Guitar Player from 1992. Can he even write a song? Richie's solo career and Winery Dogs (where he's the primary songwriter) speaks for itself. Not to mention the fact that Native Tongue (also primarily written by Kotzen) was the only half respectable record Poison ever put out.
