You can tell that despite richie being richie, he cares for stan. Like he was literally the only loser at the bar mitzvah and when he silently cries when stan is in distress after the woman got him. the book does showcase their friendship a lot; I think the movies do a good job of showing that they're really tight as well, maybe in a more subtle fashion, but it gets the point across.

This is the most beautiful friendship I had seen in my whole life.

No joke if Stan and Richie are besties I so think Bev and Eddie are besties.
