What an amazing horn player! She keeps it up so long. Horn is so hard to play, so easy to make a mistake. The toughest instrument in that regard. She makes it seem easy! And keeps going and going, without mistake. This whole performance is so hard, you don't even know. Incredible.

@@antonmuller4528 Agreed, and it's pretty demanding taking into perspective the repertoire, it would never be very easy anyway, if this was very easy then what would everyone be learning by the time they get to high school, Sea Eagle by Maxwell Davis? Horn is never very easy, only when you have been playing it for years you truly realize how never easy a piece is, be it Mozart 1st concerto or beginner tunes...

So I took a class called “What Is A Computer”, then thought well, isn’t that interesting, so took a programming class in Basic. And suddenly I was in a new field for my next career, from which I retired 10 years ago. Interesting coincidence that you should text me today ... I was digging through some old stuff to show my great-niece , and found recordings of me and three other horn players playing Richard Strauss‘s Konzertstuck , and on the flip side, me soloing with an orchestra in Strauss’s Concerto #1. I like the sound a lot. Listen to this and immediately after this Peter Damm's rendition. That will show you that the horn is not an instrument. The horn is a world. For me this is modern German horn playing. Large, shiny sound of an Alex, putting the hammer down without losing (much) intonation, magnificent, magnificent, magnificent.

After 10 years on brass instruments (horn and cornet) I graduated from high school and never played again. In the mid 60s music like this was not available to the masses in a small town. So I never knew how absolutely beautiful the horn was till I started surfing the net. One hopes that this exposure will nudge kids now playing into a more dedicated pursuit than most students of my time. The sheer number of OUTSTANDING hornists blows me away. Ms. Neunecker certainly numbers among them.

My favourite. I have listened to rather. a lot of recordings of this piece now and M-L Neunecker has a poise, musicality and expression, intonation and decisiveness about tempo that sets her apart IMO. She takes it slower than many but it gives the music additional gravitas and she has the smoothest leaps and perfect intonation. Of course the CD recording is clearer than the library acoustics but this video proves that she delivers in live performance just as well as in the studio. I wish you would come and give some concerts in Australia.

I rarely get to hear horn players own it like so. 3. I'm no fan of this Tuckwell arrangement or the speed at which the third movement is played, it's so fast it's not playful. 4. Search for Strauss: Horn Concerto No. 1 - Baborak / Charles Olivieri-Munroe / National Philharmonic of Russia, they just put it out on July 29, 2018, it us unbelievable and, as far as I am concerned, the absolute best version I've heard -- recording engineer's on this LOFT production were better, which you'll hear.

She looks so good and charismatic . And also the variety in her playing is great. Also the character of the parts has a good difference to each other. For example the introduction of the first movement is very heroic but the introduction of the second movement is very soft and carried. Also she takes her time and doesn't play through in the same tempo all the way what makes it really interesting to listen to it. The way she plays it make you feel like she is making art like in every moment you see and hear her play. The sound in the second movement is very soft and caring for every single note which sounds beautiful. I am not a big fan of her teaching style however. It's the east germany teaching style. Strict and you have to do it exactly the way the teacher tells you to. But if you survive that you become very good.

Avery fine performance, Berlin phill next stop. I used this work for ARCM and LRAM, It is full of good tone, flow , very good performance from a 65 year old horn pro horn player Berlin horns are good, shell will join Sarah and what a team, wake boys. Females play the horn now with such love and style, they are no longer horn blowers. WELL DONE GIRLTony Smith ARCM, LRAM,LTCL and LLCM HORN.

Good to see the beautiful architectural setting, but curious that the camera dwells on it so long that we don't get a close-up of the horn in the key opening fanfare. And an intrusive advert covering the orchestra in the final bars! Still, a fine performance.

What kind of horn is that, and what mouthpiece do you use?
