A really good interview with Richard. Had no idea that him and Gary had been so close back in the early days. As far as I’m aware, it’s not something that Numan has talked about before. Not entirely sure I agree with his comment that Gary hasn’t reinvented himself. Okay, so it wasn’t to the extent that Bowie did, but he did. Admittedly, Numan has been in his NIN phase for the last 10 years or so, which he seems happy to stick with, simply because it’s bought him renewed success. In my opinion, he does run the risk of some fans getting bored because the last few albums have all been very similar. Judging from ‘Intruder”, which is the debut track from his forthcoming album, he’s sticking to the formula, thanks mainly to Ade Fenton. Trivia fact. Richard Jobson lived locally to me and was in a long running dispute with a local pig farmer who was his neighbour. He lived just outside a village called Toddington, which is just outside Luton.

Another Jobson/Numan link is courtesy of the band Half Man Half Biscuit, they mention Numan in their song "Numanoid Hang-Glide", and in their song "Hair Like Brian May Blues" there is the line "The Armoury Show’s entire back catalogue"
