Richard III - The Judicial Review Decision

High Court upholds Ministry of Justice licence that was granted to the University of Leicester, permitting reinterment at Leicester Cathedral.
The University of Leicester has retained the right to proceed with the reinterment of King Richard III in Leicester.
The University had pledged in 2012 that, should Richard be discovered, he would be reinterred in Leicester. The Ministry of Justice granted the University an exhumation licence to proceed.
When the University of Leicester confirmed that its archaeologists had discovered King Richard III, the University announced it would proceed with the reinterment at Leicester Cathedral.
But the licence was then challenged by a group of pro-Yorkists called the Plantagenet Alliance who stalled the reinterment process leading to a protracted wrangle in the Courts.
Now the High Court has decided to allow the reinterment to proceed.
Representatives of the Cathedral Quarter Partnership Board (including Leicester Cathedral, Leicester City Council, University of Leicester and Leicestershire County Council) met with media at a press conference at Leicester Cathedral to comment on the outcome of the Judicial Review.

There is no room at Westminster Abbey which is where his wife is buried. The last Monarch to have a burial there is George II in 1760. At least Richard III has finally had a burial befitting a King. May he rest in peace.

It is an ongoing historical shame that Philippa Langley was not sitting at that table when the announcement was made. Because it was Philippa Langley who FIRST had the idea and dream to try and find King Richard III. Without her vision, and drive, none of those men would have been at that table, because she was the person who actually found the king. On the first day, in the first trench, and within the first four hours she actually found the leg bones of King Richard III. None of this would ever have happened without her. None of these "hanger on's" and "johnny come lately's" would have ever been able to sit at this table without Philippa Langley. It is to all of their everlasting shame that they did not rightfully, and respectfully, honor and show respect, to Philippa Langley. Doctor George Whitehead
