Ex gf got me into Richard . She'd always play his music when i was at her place . One of the few times ive bought everything available by an artist all in one go on itunes in lieu of buying everything again on cd . We went to see him play at Whitley Bay Playhouse ( Standing at Skys Edge tour ) where he played a great version of The Ocean in a nod to the fact the Playhouse was a stones throw from the north sea . My gf was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer a short while afterwards and succumbed 5 years later . It took me two years to even be able to listen to music after that and awhile longer before i could listen to Richards again but i can now and she would still be listening now if she'd made it through . To all the times the music pulled us through - thank you Mr Hawley

Is it not possible to get a copy of this gig on CD/DVD ? These acoustic versions of the songs are incredible and Richard's voice is stunning. Anybody sharing my opinion ?

Was in some whine bar dandy bar int Piece Hall over yonder in Halifax last weekend. I’m not from round them parts, but me mate Chris is (well now he is) and the bloke from the bar put Now Then ont record deck. They sell records there too as well as booze so three drinks in I bought the Album. Got caught int moment I guess. Anyway I get back to Bolton the next day (felt like a pig had shat in my head) and noticed that the bloke who’s album I’d bought had also done an album live int Piece Hall…….so I bought that too. Been a steep learning curve, but I’m getting there 6 days in listening to someone I’ve never listened to before. Oh I also bought Mazzy Star for my Mum on vinyl. She’s 83 next week.

You are still expressing your thoughts, feelings and emotions in your work and for this I applaud because I believe it is sincerely important for all to express how you are feeling. Your work resonates with me deeply and my own life and being a Sheffield lass myself I know how proud we are when it comes to hiding one’s own thoughts. Some people idolise Brando and Dean. Usually the sort of people that are the opposite of the angry confused young men they were. When they do meet such young men, they are usually repelled by the reality of the messy all too human expressions of pain and chaos that result. I wonder if Richard is the sort to understand the foundations of such anguish, or if he would settle on the bottom with the ones that curse such young men for their despair. Be interesting to know whether this everyman persona translates into the genuine article, or if it's just an artfully crafted pose. Whether he is the draught or the beaker? But Heart of Oak is magnificent.
