i hate to burst your bubble Kevin but Dawkins advocated for mild pedophilia. Did you know that? He freed your mind? Maybe you should reconsider.

While some people have commented that Dawkins is looking quite old(and I would agree), keep in mind that his father lived to the age of 95 and his mother is currently 103. I would imagine he still has quite a few years to live.

At about the 12 minute mark, when Richard mentions being told that his work inspired others to enter the sciences, I felt a flutter in my chest. I got a chance to meet him in Boston in 2015, and I made sure to tell him exactly that. I discovered his work around 2009, and after a few years I made a firm decision to go back to school and study science. I'm mere months away from receiving my MS in geology.

If God were to come right now in all His Glory everyone would ask for forgiveness and this man too... and if He were to leave us for while as with Adam and Eve or Moses and the Israelites or a strict father and his son, or a strict employer and his employee... most of us would start to claim that there is no God because we only believe what we can prove and what we can see... and So God has left us in a form we can neither see nor touch but for awhile so that he can test our loyalty... If you knew that those that you love were going to suffer and die if you go ahead with YOUR PLANS/design would you do it? Would you go ahead with YOUR PLANS if you knew that they would suffer and die for YOUR design? Is that love? Would you give your daughter the keys to the car if you knew for a fact she was going to die in a car accident? No you wouldn't. Because you love your daughter. That's what true love does. But it doesn't stop there. So this god that people believe exists doesn't just design people his way that results in ubiquitous death and pain...knowing it is going to happen...but this god adds to his design of pain and suffering by instituting eternal torment as punishment for the results of his design. Yes, free will, but if you exercise that free will then you will go to hell. If you sin, which you inherited by god from one person's mistake, you go to hell. The bible says no one can come to the father but by him. It says ALL have sinned. It says whosoever believes in him shall not perish. It says: Romans 5:12 12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men[a] because all sinned- So sin came into THE WORLD because of one man. All the terrible things that come with sin...death, pain and suffering, starvation, disease is cruel and barbaric. Adam and Eve were destined to never die. Not the case for everybody else! So people suffer for something they had nothing to do with. Not righteous. Why did this god murder all people in the flood? Babies are not wicked. They're babies. Young children are not wicked either. And the idea that every person on earth could ever be wicked...not one good person, everyone is an a**hole and nobody helps others or takes care of their families, all are selfish and malevolent is just not realistic. It amazes me that if you take the many abominations condoned by this god in the bible, if it was Satan who was committing them Christians would scream out EVIL! But if those same atrocities are committed by a god and then it's okay. This is the poison of religion. It can get people to get behind the most horrific and barbaric acts as long as it is done in the name of God. Christians burned women alive because of an ancient book that told them to do so. This book said that there was such a thing as witches and to kill them. The bible preaches fear and guilt. The fear that if you don't do what this religion says you will go to hell. The day of judgement you go to one of 2 places. The guilt that you are a sinner. You are wicked and unworthy. There is nothing about you that is redeeming, you are like rags and your only hope is Christ. Otherwise...damnation. And the idea of free will. Is it free will? I don't think it is free if there is a price for exercising it. So there is a gun (hell) to your head, and the mob boss says that if you don't do what I say I will pull the trigger. But if you do what I tell you then you will be rewarded. Christians say god doesn't kill with malice. What do you call murdering all of Egypt's firstborn just because one man, the pharaoh, was stubborn? This god seems to have a pattern of killing people who don't have anything to do with what someone else does. I believe humanism is far superior. With humanism those innocent people would be alive. With humanism no one would be a slave. With humanism a girl who is raped would not have to marry her rapist. With humanism gay people wouldn't be killed. With humanism people who have sex outside of marriage are not executed. I could go on and on.

Thank you Richard Dawkins for helping me come to terms & find the courage to express my Atheism in a small town with small minds. My Christian beliefs changed while I was in a college English class. We were made to read the book of Job. I found a hideous, cruel god. A god that I could never, ever worship. THAT completely changed my views. But I kept that to myself. Only after watching & listening to Dawkins on KZread beginning a year ago, I now feel confident in expressing my non-belief to whomever will listen. Science truly is a beautiful thing ❤️

The book of Job teaches that you cannot force God to make what you want just complying with rules. In other words, God is no teller machine: I do a good a thing so I am entitled to be saved. All religions, but Christianity, has this so human rule: You do this and that and you have the favour of your God. In the old testament, in the Book of Job, there is the firs knowledge that tis idea of a Teller machine God was false. Jesus explained that you are saved not for your works but by the grace of God.

Nearly everything about Christianity is associated with morbid death. 1. They praise a dead person and are actually HAPPY he supposedly died in massive pain on a common cross (common execution method, last used in 2018 recently in Saudi Arabia) 2. They wear (most of them) the symbol of this death execution method. (Can you imagine if this Jesus were actually true? He'd be like massively pissed off). 3.Their churches either have an actual grave somewhere in the boundary OR the church is close to a graveyard. Churches are not presented as happy fun places, they have the view of darkness and horror. 4. Most Christians feel that the end times are coming (LOL). Its suppose to be hours or days of massive pain followed by death for everyone! Plus they look forward to this!!! 5. Their Jesus will NEVER come to them on a sunny day at the beach with the kids playing whilst you sip tequila sunrises. Nope. The ONLY time their Jesus is claimed as showing is in grey dark clouded days (or nights) that only depression itself can relate to. 6. Blood sacrifice and wanting death, is their main beliefs!! That's why ;) Generally when I try to help them Recover From Religion, I'm aware they are definitely NOT in a good way! All that morbid death + feeling they were born faulty!! I am an atheist and a Hitchens/Dawkins/Sam Harris admirer too. But I do support the Hindus in that Ayodhya case. Because the non white washed history of India doesn't mention the thousands of temples getting demolished by the Mughals. Islam is farm harmful and insidious than Hinduism.

Great to see Dawkins supporting vegetarianism and veganism. He states he loves nature including animals therefore, he cannot continue to eat and harm sentient beings because they are on a farm. I know Richard would make the leap to a whole food plant based diet which benefits health, animals and the environment.

Or the animals that are just trying to survive that are poisoned trying to eat our plants. Now which of these groups of animals should we be killing less of as you stated .

All animals are killed with intention, animals that are bred for the sole purpose of being killed for the intention of being our food like it or not just like crops are a commodity that helps our economy. Millions of Sentient beings are purposefully killed with the Intention of preserving crops . The pesticide /poison industry is a 15 billion dollar a year entity that exists for the sole purpose of keeping our food free from non human sentient beings . unintentional i think not whether it's meat or plant animals must die to make these industries profitable, and that's the bottom line Money!

He is awesome. I never forget him. I stopped believing in god at early age. And years after I found him. Listen to him talk gave me so much joy and I realised that it's ok to not be religious because people around judge me because of it. I hope there is a lot of new Richards growing up.

I absolutely love that RD has done a dumbed down version. Earlier in my life I'd have loved that, and needed it. Man's a real educator.

I wish people in governments would listen to Richard Dawkins, if they did the world would be a better place. A great interviewer as well far more intro than the one on BBC Newsnight.

So wrong - to deny and belittle the Christian heritage and culture of the west is a shame - "Christmas", "Halloween", "In God we Trust", "Easter", Universities, Hospitals, the Sciences (astronomy, physics, biology, etc.), etc. all made the west so progressive compared with other pagan cultures - although because of these guys like him are destroying this culture - today we have - 40 millions/year abortions, 39m HIV infections/year, 1.1m AIDS death/year, fatherless children, etc. all brought about by the secular sexual revolution - their right to be "happy" and have sex whenever, with whoever, anytime and without accountability - (even the wild animals practice chastity to protect their family) scary for those who care for their family and children - A sick comparison with the sanctity of marriage and the family vs fornication and lust

After losing the likes of Carl Sagan, Christopher Hitchens & others, Richard Dawkins has filled that void & has been the voice of reason, rationality and sanity in a world filled with superstition and nonsensical religious ideology. Thank you RD for all that you have done & continue to do! We need you now more than ever.

Really inspiring. He is beautifully aging, Michio Kaku is also aging, David Attenborough is aging. I hope many young leaders like them are following 🤒 Brian Cox for example.. the world needs such people.

I have much more respect for Richard Dawkins than I have for some other prominent atheists like Bill Maher, Lawrence Krauss and the late Christopher Hitchens. With those guys, while they may have the right arguments, I get the feeling that they enjoy bringing people down more than they enjoy sharing knowledge. I could of course be wrong, but their public personas always struck me as rather smug. Not exactly the people I trust to bring about positive change in the world. Dawkins appears to me as much humbler than his compatriots. Sure, he probably enjoys winning debates as much as the next person, but it's clear from his polite, soft-spoken nature that he's more interested in uncovering scientific truths, inspiring others to see the beauty of the natural world, and helping humanity along on its path to becoming a rational, kind species. Go Dawkins.

Everything you stated is either something no scientist has ever claimed, has been completely debunked numerous times, or is completely outlandish. When doing research, especially on the internet, it is imperative that you get information from multiple sources. Those sources should also be as far removed from each other as possible. Obtaining information from a handful of websites that only cite each other, is a common mistake. When trying to find out if something is true or not, the best way to go about it is to try to prove your own beliefs wrong. Beware of biases, they are the enemy of anyone seeking the truth. According to me, Professor Richard Dawkins is most voluminous , vociferous and voluble atheist in the world. Kudos to his no-nonsense approach.

I wish this book was around when I was a teen in Sunday school. I would have secretly read and studied it with all other children and teens. I only hope most of my fellow ex-sunday school mates made it out of the irrational domain of magical thoughts and dangerous fundamentalism.

I'm sure He wouldnt be cool with us doing something something like that to children. He gave us a brain for a reason, and a major part of utilizing wisdom and discernment is not just believing everything you hear from other people without verifying the accuracy of the information. 500 years ago, people who thought like you do would ask, "Where does the lightning come from? Why are there earthquakes?" Their answer was (honestly), "I don't know." But they pretended to know, and plugged in a god as the answer. So to ask a question that we CURRENTLY don't know the answer to, and to suggest that the answer is a god, is just more of the same "god of the gaps" argumentation. Don't make the mistake of thinking that the state of our knowledge today is the same as it will be 100, 500, or 1000 years from now.

Once again, I am in awe after quickly crunching the numbers to reveal the % of viewers that "like" this video verses the few that don't, or "dislike" the discussion. At the moment, the equation is: 236/3016 X 100 = 7.8% disapprove, or by definition 'dislike' the presentation, or stated as equally true, 90.2% of viewers approve, or 'like' the presentation. This observation can be seen with the relatively same outcome on all of "Dawkins Talkin's" , here on KZread... based on my experience. Although these data points only prove that a specific number of people clicked on the one of two icons, and a statically greater number of those that clicked "liked", what they experienced. Assumptions can be made, but I believe a critical argument would suggest that it really doesn't "Prove" anything significant. I am a man of very little brains, a very large belly, and 7 years without a haircut. Having said that, I suppose assumptions could be made. I wonder if anyone understands the riddle I just posed? Just for shlits and giggles, I'm proud...honored to say, "I've loved Richard Dawkins and all that he argues for 40 of the 59 years my heart has been beating".

I’d like to see Dawkins delve into current consciousness research e.g. multiverse theory, non-physical realities and so on. I’d like to see his take on all of that.

He was pretty much proved to be wrong in all origin of life questions. Intelligent Design discoveries put all Darwinian assumptions to rest. The latest I heard about him when cornered about the impossibility of life starting in a warm little pond, he demurred and stated that maybe everything on this planet was created by an intelligent design race from some other planet. Then he states that of course those guys must have been evolved. Nonsense. What if those guys were also designed and the chain never ends? It is the same in cosmology with quantum fluctuations, string theory, Boltzmann brains and of course entire universes coming into existence from nothing.

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!!!!! Not you Dawkins. Just keep doing what you are doing.

The thing about Atheism is that it allows no quarter in tolerance to accommodate the many ways we have to adjust to for the sorrows that can befall the lives of people. Atheism does not come with means of forgiveness, which is an essential component for coping with the many pitfalls that can trap the lives of people. We can have all smart-ass pontifications in the world about how the physical world came about, but that offers no answers to remedy the demons that can haunt people’s lives, and lead them down paths they where they have no control? In fact, by making people believe that’s all there is, they inhibit their motivation to search for meaning.
