I was lucky to briefly meet Richard Chamberlain in 1972. My senior English class was at the Kennedy Center to see a play. We were in the cafeteria line for lunch when I saw him a few people in front of me. I started whispering to my friends who I thought it was. The teachers were more giddy than we were. I can't remember who, but someone finally had the nerve to ask him. He was very gracious and took the time to sign his autograph on paper napkins for us. He was in another play there, not the one we were there to see.

The overall views towars being gay has not changed. The only difference is the media has "come around...to be more progressive"....i think because it's become trendy. o more TV programing are now including gy relationships e.g. NCIS:Hawaii/lesbian relationship...with kissing. Didn't happen till this show....on prime time. Most straight people will always think it's wrong. It's why they are straight. :) the "acceptance" is just the trend. the polite thing to do. Not treat a gay person like a lesser person. But in private "...it's wrong" to straight people. No one is born gay.soemthing happened in their lives usually that "turned them"...gay or lesbian...girls who become lesbians usually do so becaue they weren't attractive to boys...but wanted to be loved. Likewise boys who weren't "manly enough"...for whatever the reason...of course there are exceptions e.g. attractive gay men who do attract women...etc.

He is lying here definitely. Being a gay actor and not let anybody know about it needs tremendous effort to also act in your relationships and real life. That creates a double secret life which is psychologically a terrible life to live. So, he did suffer, and lived in fear and lie and pretentious and anger, for sure. It is easy now to say it openly, but it wasn’t back then. And anybody who lived such a double life, confesses that it is ruining the essence of it. He may not admit it, but this is a fact. That is why perhaps he was very successful in acting in general, and particularly in torn bird as a cardinal who had to hide his love and sexual desire for a much younger girl whom he was supposed to be a father figure. He did well in that series, because he was living such a life in reality.

Perfectly stated. The interviewer was patting himself on the back for acclaiming his perspective. Richard transcends such little minds. ❤

those cheek bones...wow
SO DAM BEAUTIFUL
Wonderful man! I really respect you! Stay healthy Richard! Gay or otherwise, I still love you a lot! .........and ALL PUSSIAN WOMEN,,,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Richard owes no explanation to anyone. I was impressed he would speak with anyone related to Fox News. Rather surprised that O'Reilly didn't go off the rails...and it doesn't matter. However, I cannot believe I like O'Reilly in this interview. He's more human than I thought.

I really thought it would be worse. I think Richard is so intelligent and articulate that it took "Oreally" by surprise. Kudos, Richard!! ❤
Richard Chamberlain I accepted you with all my heart. You have a beautiful soul and human being. I admired and adored you since I was a teenager. I will always love you forever ❤️❤❤ 7:47

He is not only very handsome but he is also highly intelligent and a gentleman.
How gracious and intelligent Richard Chamberlain was! And he really was so beautiful I never realized that he was gay. He was absolutely gorgeous!❤️❤️❤️
I love him so much, i wrote a book about him
He is so lovely... Like him very much
Richard Chamberlain simply glows as a Human being.
Don’t understand why people posted that Bill was being mean spirited. It’s an interview and Bill asking tough questions but guess what, he is letting Mr Chamberlain speak and explain. That is the art.
The absolute sound of disrespect in his voice is disgusting to hear. Bill O'r isn't fit to scrap the gum from Richard's dirtiest pair of sandals. This was only 2003. We still love Richard. We know what o"r really is so he is no one to judge some one else. #failedoreilly
I loved Richard Chamberlain as composer Tchaikovsky!

Hes aged well. His voice sounds the same
"your partner or whatever" ? what kind of an insensitive/ignorant comment is that? and that's just one of them but Richard Chamberlain is such a GREAT ACTOR and a wonderful respectful human being that he continued with his nonsense I loved Chamberlain back then, I still love him now, I dont care what his sexual orientation is BTW: what does el-kaida has to do with anything? what an @ss
I had to stop watching. Mr. Chamberlain is upfront, calm, and personable. O’Reilly keeps interrupting, contradicting, trying to assert that his opinions are the only truth while ignoring the opinions of his guest. Richard Chamberlain is a classy man. O’Reilly is the exact opposite.
I believe that Richard Chamberlain and Rachel Ward truly fell in love with each other parties in "The Thornbirds until someone came between them.

If that's what they want to do and they are happy who am I to judge.
And REMEMBER folks, ONLY 2 LEADING MEN ARE GAY IN HOLLYWOOD! (......Oreilly, GEEEZZZZZ )

I love Richard.....very poor journalism and interview though
I think it matters to the dignity of the human race and the dignity of the ends of sexual intercourse (i.e. new life), but what it doesn't matter to is to those who use the act of sexual intercourse as a means for sexual gratification, whether straight or gay.
A great actor and undoubtedly a very handsome man who now feels it is time to inform the world that he is GAY,personally I do nor believe it is at all relevant, have enjoyed watching Richard ongoing and really do not care what his sexual preferences was or is,not my business now or ever, you are what you are ENJOY and continue to entertain your appreciative fans ongoing.HECK YEAH,
The overall views towars being gay has not changed.

I think so: "No one is born gay.soemthing happened in their lives usually that "turned them"...gay or lesbian..."
Why did Richard Chamberlain think he had to "come out?" Who hadn't figured that out?

He didn't have to. He wanted to! He had reached a point of understanding and accepting himself and felt freed of his own chains on the matter. His book is wonderful and speaks volumes about the character of the man. Despite the fact of it, he is not measured by his sexual orientation. ❤
All the love scenes that puckd up Shogun (TV series) and the dudes gay!!!!!
Yeah , Bill, SO WHAT!!? IT is NONE of ANYONE'S BUSINESS ! Get a life.
O'Reiily was ssssssoooo rude, Richard Chamberlain was an amazing gentleman, talented, smart, cool, human, soooooooo amazzzzzzzzzzzzzing, i luv u Sir Richard, may u rest in peace XoXoXo

He is still living!!! He is 89 but he is still alive as l write! 🙏❤
This man talking too much not allowing RC to speak.

What a wonderful comment! Thank you.
Bill O' has lost major points with me. Even in this now dated interview, Mr. C exhibits class to Mr. O's crass!
Exactly..if you are a talented actor..i dont care about your sex life. Its none of my business
What a waste!
