He's funny in The IT Crowd. PBS 🇺🇸 ran that sitcom for 3-4 years, weekends. It ended, US airing around 2021.

I'd watch it if they cast Richard 💯, and I'm not interested in it at all as it is , far better as a spoof.
Richard is a genius. i can't tell if his whole personality is an act, which if it is is an insane level of skill and commitment I'm certainly incapable of, or if it is just who he is as a person that exudes the level of perfect comedic timing do to awkward delivery, but which ever it is, I deeply respect the man for all the laughs he's bestowed upon me.

Very likely to be a persona that has elements of his real personality, but when you seem him interact with someone like Chris O'Dowd or Noel Fielding, you can tell that he is trying to keep the awkward persona up and to not break.

not gonna happen. He would not be the Doctor he would be Richard Ayoade. Brilliant but not right for the show.
Richard’s one of those people who seem endlessly funny due to a substantial amount of both wit and intelligence, I’ve missed him since Travel Man. Would pay any sum of money to see him and Holness resurrect Darkplace. And damn, he’s looking really good, like, hasn’t aged a day in the past 20 years.
Richard Ayoade is a great speaker. 😊 Great host.
He will always be too damn funny
When you realise his whole public persona is an act, and that he might actually be the best and most committed actor in the room...

A little bit, but Richard is so so so much more aware of the social conventions and unspoken layers to things. He flouts them deliberately, with full knowledge of what he's doing.

Ricard truly makes the best of it. I am a fan of Richard Ayoade he is cute. He is also great in The Mandalorian season 1 as Zero. It's cool he got to work with Disney. He has done more than he gives himself credit for.

I totally agree. They consistently get it wrong: Fry was funny for a few years and then became tiresome; Jonathan Ross and Joanna Lumley were dreadful. I didn’t see the Rebel Wilson broadcast but she seemed an odd choice. But you can bet they won’t give RA the gig - too obviously the best option and too ironic for the Hollywood gang.

He's one of my favourite comics. Rebel was a really random choice, and Joanna was painful. Fry was ok, I thought, but at this point, I think I'd even appreciate Tom Allen hosting. Cuz they did always fail to choose a good one. 😓

He is very famous! And I think the socially awkward nerd thing is maybe something he plays up but not entirely made up. When you listen to him in e.g. radio interviews about films he's directed, he's still quite reserved, but there's a definite difference in how he speaks.
