    He's so right. I've loved his music and song writing from the start, but now I'm into my 50's, so much of the soundtrack to my life touches me on a much deeper level and I've found myself increasingly shedding a tear as I truly feel the emotion and the meaning in my favourite songs. Thank you Richard and all the great musicians for giving me those gifts.

    Mate, I was just saying this to my wife. Like you I’m in my 50’s and I can’t listen to any track of Urban Hymns without getting emotional. Not that my youth was traumatic, it’s just us as a generation.

    Seen him in Malahide castle 2018 he was unbelievable, that voice was quality, he was supporting Liam Gallagher and the minute he came on stage he lit my world. He was the only 1 I hadn't heard from that special decade I grew up listening too, being an oasis fan all my life it completed me. Truly Truly a special talent and preformer, so thank you RICHARD ASHCROFT

    Im also a huge oasis fan and i agree that the verve completes oasis. Oasis and the verve are my favorite bands, period. Even a band like coldplay with such talented musicians dont have a sound like Lucky Man or bittersweet symphony.

    Urban Hymns is a masterpiece! I listened to that album so many times and smoked copious amounts of weed to it (not that it needs anything to enjoy it). I would give my left teste to be back in my mams garden in my teens with that album cranked up just chilling with my mates... good times.

My friend and me looking through her red box of memories, faded I'm sure but love seems to stick in her veins you know...I love that song so much! Thank You Richard we are feeling it! "I can't change my mode" would seem to have been one of Richard's most sincere lyrics. The Verve were the band of my formative high school years in the mid to late 90s, and for better or worse, it doesn't seem like Richard has changed since then, in terms of his outlook and horizons. It seems like most of his answers have been practised over and over in his inner monologue (dialogue?!).

  • @theoutlaw5806
    @theoutlaw58062 жыл бұрын

    Urban Hymns was the first Album I bought. The Verve was the first band to really grab my attention & my introduction into music. When we all grow old, sitting in our favourite arm chair, pipe, slippers and all that… It’s US & our generation who’ll look back nostalgically reminiscing about proper music, “When I was a kid ..😂” Just like my parents with The Stones & The Beatles in the 60’s We had The Verve & Oasis in the 90’s… and I’m absolutely fine with that.

    The Verve's "Urban Hymns" (1997) and "Forth" (2008) are my favorite albums. However, when it comes to Richard Ashcroft's solo material, I absolutely love ALL of his albums. From "Alone with Everybody" (2000) to "Natural Rebel" (2018). I'm always waiting for his next masterpiece. So fucking excited for the release of his new album "Acoustic Hymns, Vol. 1" (2021). If the first volume is as phenomenal, then imagine just how smashing volume two can be. Music is Power! Thanks Maestro Ashcroft!

    He treats the legacy of The Verve with such contempt its laughable. They broke up 3 times for a reason: Him. The fact of the matter is ANY Verve record beats his own 2x over. Richard was best when he was part of a group, co-writing with McCabe, rather than this Ed Sheeran type solo career he's embarked on with his record company yes men.

    He knows who he is and what he can do and he does respect them but he loves music more and meaning behind it. Plus has made better music on his own. Human Condition Keys to the world. Plus he sings the songs anyway so it's a no brainer. He could just do all of their parts anyway so he wouldn't even need them. I will always defend Mr Ashcroft that's just the way it goes. When I think of the verve I think of Richard Ashcroft. I dont even know the names of the other guys........

    @@rainbowrose9299 That's ridiculous, he has not made better music on his own. That's simply not true. I'm not even being subjective, The Verve records are objectively better than his solo output. Show me how Richard Ashcroft could play guitar like Nick McCabe, or play the drums as skilfully as Peter Salisbury
